Control Resonant: All Artifacts Guide – Locations, Effects, and How to Craft Them

    By Sacheen · October 1, 2026 · 11 min read
    All Control Resonant Artifacts

    TL;DR – Key Takeaways:

    • Artifacts are passive equippable items in Control Resonant that give Dylan permanent bonuses like extra damage, better healing, faster Power recovery, and status resistances.
    • You cannot equip Artifacts straight from the world. You first collect an Untapped Artifact, then craft it into the usable version at the Artifact Formation station inside The Gap.
    • Dylan can equip three Artifacts at once during a standard playthrough, rising to four in New Game Plus.
    • There are over 30 Artifacts in total. They come from Resonant boss fights, side quests, vendors across Manhattan, story missions, and exploration.
    • Artifacts are split into four types: Combat, Survival, Exploration, and Special.

Artifacts are one of the most important parts of building your Dylan in Control Resonant. They sit on top of your abilities, talent trees, and Aberrant configuration as a passive modifier layer — and getting the right three equipped can make a significant difference in how fights play out. Some Artifacts are straightforward damage boosts. Others reward specific playstyles, like staying at low health, using Gravity Anomaly constantly, or leaning into Falter to stagger enemies.

This guide covers every Artifact in the game, what it does, where to get it, and which setups work best together.

How Artifacts Work in Control Resonant

Artifacts are passive modifiers that Dylan equips from the Loadout menu. Each one provides a persistent bonus — some clean and unconditional, others strong but carrying a penalty or an activation requirement. They do not replace abilities or change your core combat loop, but they tilt how the rest of the build performs. A healing Artifact keeps you alive longer. A Power recovery Artifact lets you chain more abilities. A damage Artifact with a drawback makes every encounter a risk-reward decision.

Most Artifacts are divided into four categories:

    • Combat Artifacts — modify damage output, Falter, Power, and offensive mechanics.
    • Survival Artifacts — affect Health, healing, Shield, and status resistances.
    • Exploration Artifacts — utility bonuses outside direct combat, like marking resource crates on the minimap.
    • Special Artifacts — unusual mechanics, usually with a strong benefit paired with a significant drawback or activation condition.

How to Get and Craft Artifacts in Control Resonant

Artifacts in Control Resonant work in two stages. Most arrive in the world as Untapped Artifacts. Finding one does not immediately make it usable — it is essentially the blueprint for crafting the real thing. You need to take the Untapped Artifact to the Artifact Formation station in The Gap, provide the required materials and Source, and craft it into the finished item. The Untapped version is consumed in the process.

Once crafted, the Artifact appears in your Loadout and can be slotted into one of your three available Artifact slots. On PC, approach the Artifact Formation station and press F to interact and open the crafting menu.

Untapped Artifacts come from several sources:

    • Defeating Resonant bosses (main story encounters)
    • Completing main and side missions
    • Purchasing from vendors across Manhattan’s zones
    • Completing optional activities and exploration challenges
    • Pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses (two Artifacts)

Crafting Artifacts also contributes to two progression trophies — one for your first craft, one for reaching 30 Artifacts crafted — so spending materials as you go is better than saving them. If you want to adjust your equipped Artifacts, check our guide on how to respec in Control Resonant.

    • Bug Spray (Combat) — +30% Damage and Falter against Mold, but doubles Infected buildup. Sold by the Central Zone vendor.

    • Scrunchie (Combat) — +10% Damage with Primary Aberrant forms. Source: can be obtained via the Unsupervised Science questline — check our Unsupervised Science all experiments guide for details.

    Pre-order and Deluxe Edition Artifacts

    • Lockpick’s Tool (Special) — Your next combat ability after a Perfect Dodge costs no Power. Pre-order bonus.
    • Wallet (Special) — Combat abilities consume Health when Dylan has no Power; deactivates below 5% Health. Deluxe Edition bonus. See our full pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses guide.

    Best Artifacts for Damage Builds

For raw offensive output, Trusted Spanner is the cleanest option — a flat +15% Raw damage with no downside. Pair it with Fork (+15% Sharp damage) or Spray Paint (+15% Blunt damage) to boost your most-used damage type.

If you want more aggressive gains, Whetstone gives +20% Damage but cuts Falter by 20% — good for builds focused on eliminating enemies rather than staggering them. Brass Dusters takes this further: combat abilities deal +50% Damage but zero Falter, making it purely a kill-focused option.

For melee specifically, the Amulet stacks +5% Critical Chance on top of any damage-boosting Artifact.

    Best Artifacts for Falter Builds

Golden Earrings is the go-to Falter Artifact — +20% Falter across all attacks, at the cost of -30% Damage. It pairs well with builds using crowd control abilities rather than raw killing. Framing Hammer goes further: combat abilities gain +30% Falter but deal no damage at all, making it a pure stagger tool.

Practice Knot adds +15% Falter specifically against Heavy enemies, which is useful in tougher encounters. Medical Alert Bands can also deliver +25% Falter when Dylan’s Health is below 25%, making it a good fit for low-health builds.

Best Artifacts for Healing and Survival

Heart Monitor is one of the best emergency Artifacts in the game. It prevents death once and brings Dylan back at 20% Health — but it breaks on activation. It functions like a safety net, and the value is enormous in difficult fights. Lost Prescription rewards good play by giving each Perfect Dodge a 30% chance to restore Health, keeping you topped up if your dodge timing is consistent.

1996 Commemorative Coin increases what each Health element restores, which is effectively a passive healing multiplier. Coffee Cup provides slow Health regeneration outside combat, making exploration and looting between fights safer.

    Best Artifacts for Low-Health Builds

Control Resonant rewards risk-taking. Mother’s Locket gives +25% Damage when below 25% Health, and Medical Alert Bands adds +25% Falter under the same condition. Running both together creates a powerful low-health synergy — your combat effectiveness actually increases as you get closer to death.

The obvious risk is that you have very little room for error. If you go this route, pairing it with Heart Monitor as a safety net is worth seriously considering.

    Best Artifacts for Power Recovery

Bout Guard is the strongest Power recovery Artifact in the game — +50% Power recovery, but at the cost of taking +20% more incoming damage. Ornate Buckle takes a different route: executions restore a large chunk of Power, but again Dylan takes +30% Damage. Both demand that you play aggressively to offset the drawback.

For a safer option, Feeding Bottle gives +30% Power recovery whenever Dylan is suffering from Infected or Burn status effects. It works naturally in Mold-heavy areas. Lockpick’s Tool (pre-order bonus) eliminates the Power cost of the next ability after a Perfect Dodge, which rewards tight defensive play.

Best Artifacts for Gravity Anomaly Builds

If you use Shift constantly, two Artifacts are made for you. Fingerboard gives +25% Damage and Falter while using Gravity Anomaly — a direct offensive buff tied to your core movement ability. Shiny Pebbles passively restores Dylan’s Health up to 50% while Gravity Anomaly is active, giving you a built-in sustainability loop. Running both together makes Gravity Anomaly builds significantly more self-sufficient.

    Best Artifacts Against Mold Enemies

For zones heavy with Mold, Bug Spray gives +30% Damage and Falter against Mold enemies — but doubles Infected buildup, so you need to manage that status carefully. Molding Bar is the extreme version: full Infected immunity and even stronger Mold bonuses, but your maximum Health is permanently capped at 50% while it is equipped. Use it in Mold encounters you want to steamroll, then swap it out.

For a safer approach, Face Mask just slows Infected buildup passively — no penalty, no risk, just more breathing room when Mold enemies are hitting you. It is a solid default for The Park and any Mold-heavy side content. You can find more Mold-related content in our Power Lines walkthrough, which involves a significant Mold encounter at the Vanished Station.

    Artifact Slot Progression

You start with three Artifact slots during your first playthrough. In New Game Plus, a fourth slot opens up. On a second run, your crafted Artifacts carry over alongside your upgrades, abilities, and talent tree progress — so any Artifacts you missed or could not afford to craft first time round can be picked up and used straight away.

Crafting Artifacts feeds two trophies, so work through the list steadily rather than hoarding Untapped Artifacts and materials. Every Artifact you craft during your first run carries forward, making the fourth slot on NG+ immediately useful.
