TL;DR
- There are 8 Shum III arcade cabinets in Control Resonant spread across all major zones.
- Cabinets are not marked on the map — you have to find them manually.
- Each cabinet requires a specific zone level before you can play it.
- Some cabinets also need specific traversal abilities or key items to access.
- The 8th and final cabinet only unlocks after you finish the main story.
- Playing any cabinet earns you the SHÜM! Bronze trophy/achievement.
Control Resonant is packed with side activities, and the Shum III arcade cabinets are some of the most fun to hunt down. These retro-looking machines are scattered across Manhattan’s zones, and each one launches a unique challenge — whether that’s surviving waves of Hiss enemies, defending a shipment, or sprinting through a parkour obstacle course.
The tricky part? None of them are marked on your map. You have to raise each zone’s level and then track them down yourself. This guide covers every single Shum III cabinet in the game — where to find it, what level you need, and what to expect when you start playing.
If you’re new to the game, it’s worth checking out our Control Resonant beginner tips before diving into these optional challenges, as most cabinets are designed for higher-level characters.
How to Unlock Shum III Arcade Cabinets in Control Resonant
Before a Shum III cabinet becomes playable, the zone it sits in must reach a certain Zone Level. Zones level up when you complete World Events, defeat Hiss enemies, and finish activities in that area.
To check what level your zone needs to reach, open the in-game map, hover over a zone, and press the details button. This tells you exactly which level triggers the cabinet unlock.
Some cabinets also require traversal abilities like Shift or Reach, or items like the Level 2 Keycard. We’ll note these for each location below.
All Shum III Arcade Cabinet Locations — Quick Overview
- Downtown — Zone Level 6 — Defend challenge
- Central — Zone Level 4 — Obstacle course
- Evacuation Zone — Zone Level 6 + Level 2 Keycard — Survive challenge
- West Incursion Zone — Zone Level 3 + Shift and Reach — Enemy waves
- The Park — Zone Level 4 — Enemy waves
- Underpass — Zone Level 5 + Maintenance Protocol quest — Timed enemy waves
- Unknown Zone — Zone Level 5 — Obstacle course
- Unknown Zone (Post-Game) — Complete main story — Combat challenge
Downtown Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 6
The Downtown cabinet is at the far southern end of the map. There’s a Fast Travel point nearby once you’ve unlocked it. At first glance, it might look like you need the Reach ability to access this area — but you don’t.
Instead, climb onto the rooftop and jump across the levitating platforms. This takes you to the Wear’Em & Wash’Em Laundromat. Head inside and you’ll find the arcade cabinet waiting for you.
The challenge here is a defend mission. Dylan must protect an FBC shipment from incoming waves of Hiss enemies. The less damage the shipment takes, the better your score.

Central Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 4

This is the easiest cabinet to access in the whole game. Head to the northeastern part of Central and look for an Urban Fresh Mart. No special abilities or key items are needed to enter.
The Shum III cabinet is right inside. The challenge is an obstacle course — sprint through it as fast as you can to reach the finish line.
This is also the best cabinet to play first if you just want to unlock the SHÜM! trophy or achievement, since the parkour format is far more forgiving than the combat challenges.
The Central cabinet is near the Patterned Factory. While you’re in the area, it’s also worth solving the Central Checkpoint power puzzle to keep your zone progress moving.
Evacuation Zone Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 6
Additional Requirement: Level 2 Keycard

This cabinet is hidden behind a locked door in the eastern part of the Evacuation Zone. You’ll encounter this area during a main story mission, and the Level 2 Keycard is actually obtained during that same mission — so you’ll naturally pick it up along the way.
After completing the relevant story mission, take the elevator down and use the Level 2 Keycard to open the door. The Shum III cabinet is right on the other side.
The challenge is a survival mission — Dylan must fight off multiple waves of Hiss enemies one after another.
West Incursion Zone Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 3
Additional Requirement: Shift and Reach abilities

The West Incursion Zone cabinet has the lowest zone level requirement of all, but you still need both the Shift and Reach abilities unlocked to reach it.
As you make your way toward the West Incursion Zone Resonant boss, you’ll pass through the Empire Avenue Fast Travel point. Right beside it is the Atlantis Cafe. Walk inside and you’ll spot the arcade cabinet.
The challenge is combat-focused — defeat multiple waves of enemies to complete it.
While you’re at the Atlantis Cafe, you may also want to solve the nearby puzzles. We have a full walkthrough for the Atlantis Cafe appliance puzzle and the Atlantis Cafe cash register code to help you grab every collectible in the area.
The Park Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 4

Raise The Park to Zone Level 4 and then head to the northern part of the zone near the Mold Factory Fast Travel point. There is a building nearby with an entrance along its side.
Go inside and look for the room with the red door. The Shum III cabinet is in there. Like most of the later cabinets, the challenge involves wave-based enemy combat — clear every wave to finish.
Underpass Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 5
Additional Requirement: Maintenance Protocol quest active

The Underpass cabinet is the trickiest to access. It’s located at the extreme southeast of the Underpass zone and can only be reached while the Maintenance Protocol quest is active. You cannot get to it outside of that quest window.
Fast Travel to the Deepest Underpass point and turn around. You’ll spot a Reach point — use it to climb up to the nearby door. Zoe will give you instructions on how to open it as part of the quest. Follow her directions to get inside.
Once in, the quest objective will point you to the right. Ignore it for now and go straight instead. The Shum III cabinet is ahead of you. Deal with any enemies in the area first.
This challenge is timed — you must eliminate all enemy waves before the clock runs out. It’s one of the harder arcade challenges in the game.

Unknown Zone Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location
Zone Level Required: 5

The first Unknown Zone cabinet is in the western part of the zone, near the Factory Island Fast Travel point. To reach it, you need to drop down from a Gravity Well to land on the floating landmark below.
Once you land, head through the doors on the roof of the building ahead of you, then walk downstairs. The Shum III cabinet is inside one of the lower rooms.
The challenge here is another parkour-based obstacle course — similar in feel to the Central cabinet, but more demanding.

Post-Game Shum III Arcade Cabinet Location (Dylan’s Apartment)
Zone Level Required: Complete the main story
The eighth and final Shum III cabinet only becomes available after you finish Control Resonant’s main campaign. Once the credits roll, you can continue exploring Manhattan freely.
This cabinet is located inside Dylan’s Apartment, which makes it almost impossible to miss when you return for post-game content. It unlocks automatically once the story is done — no additional zone level or ability is needed.
The final challenge is combat-based and somewhat different from the earlier ones. You need to eliminate all enemies to complete it. This cabinet is also tied to an Artifact reward — earning a high score here unlocks a unique item for Dylan’s build.
Tips for Completing Shum III Arcade Challenges
- Level up your build before attempting the harder cabinets. Most of these challenges are built for high Power Level characters. Even at Power Level 10, some of them are tough.
- Check your zone level often. Open the map and check zone details regularly so you don’t miss when a cabinet becomes available.
- Use Assist Mode if needed. There’s no trophy or achievement penalty for using Assist Mode. Our Assist Mode settings guide explains all the options.
- Respec your build between challenges. Combat and parkour challenges favour very different builds. See our how to respec guide if you want to swap before jumping in.
- Grab Power Upgrades nearby. Since you’re already exploring zones for cabinets, make sure you’re collecting Power Upgrades too. Our all Power Upgrade chest locations guide shows where every chest is.
Shum III Arcade Cabinet Rewards
Playing any Shum III cabinet for the first time earns you the SHÜM! Bronze trophy on PS5 or the SHÜM! achievement on Xbox and Steam. You don’t need to finish the challenge — just play it.
Getting a high score on the post-game cabinet inside Dylan’s Apartment unlocks a unique Artifact for your build. Artifacts are some of the strongest passive items in the game, so it’s worth coming back and grinding for the top score once you’re at full strength.
