Control Resonant: The Complete Set Walkthrough (Subwoofer Choice)

Control Resonant The Complete Set Walkthrough
    • Quest type: Side Story — available after reaching the Central region.
    • Find 4 SINKKI D50 speakers across Downtown, Central, and the West Incursion Zone.
    • Get the subwoofer from the Oldest House — speak to Langston first for the SR keycard.
    • Return everything to the Auction House and place each piece on the correct surface.
    • Shut down all 4 speakers quickly — if one reactivates, the ritual resets.
    • At the end, choose to turn the subwoofer off or turn the volume up — both give the same reward but the civilian’s fate changes.
    • Reward: Bout Guard artifact recipe.

The Complete Set is one of Control Resonant’s longest and strangest side quests. It sends Dylan across Manhattan chasing a vintage SINKKI D50 speaker system that has gone completely paranormal. Four speakers are scattered around the city, the subwoofer is locked in the Oldest House, and bringing the whole set together leads to a possession ritual with a moral choice at the end. This walkthrough covers every location and explains the subwoofer choice so you know what you’re committing to.

How to Start The Complete Set

The quest can be triggered in more than one way. The easiest entry point is the Museum of Curiosities in the southeast corner of the West Incursion Zone — read the note on the reception desk and the side story will appear in your log. You can also start it by walking into the Auction House in northern Downtown and picking up the collectible there.

Either way, you’ll quickly learn that four SINKKI D50 speakers are loose across Manhattan and a subwoofer is somewhere in FBC custody. Pick up the “There’s People in There” collectible inside the Auction House — it maps out the other locations and is essential reading before heading out.

    All SINKKI D50 Speaker Locations

Speaker 1 — Auction House (Downtown)

The first speaker is right here in the Auction House in northern Downtown, in the Dense Patterning area. Clear any Hiss on the rooftop before entering. Head inside and speak to the civilian on the balcony. The speaker will become active and start jumping around the lower floor.

Wait for it to pause, then run up and contain it. It will move again if you take too long, so go in during a lull. Once contained, you have Speaker 1.

Speaker 2 — Construction Site Near the Collector’s Apartment (Central)

Head to the Collector’s Apartment in southwest Central. Go to the second floor, enter the first door on the left, and interact with the phone to collect the “Pete, Nina and Lester” audio log. It tells you the speaker was thrown out.

Exit the building through the main entrance and cross the street to the Frontline Construction site. Check the dumpsters on the right side of the entrance — the speaker is sitting there. Approach it and it will flee deeper into the site. Chase it down, wait for it to stop, and contain it.

Speaker 3 — Atlantis Coffee Shop (Central)

Go to the Auction Buyer’s Apartment in Central — it’s marked on your map as part of the quest chain. Inside, find the Exchange Location Note. This points you to a nearby Atlantis coffee shop.

Head to the coffee shop. The speaker is inside but will bolt when you approach. Chase it outside and contain it when it stops. For other puzzles inside Atlantis, see our Atlantis Café appliance puzzle guide and our cash register code guide.

Speaker 4 — Museum of Curiosities (West Incursion Zone)

The final speaker is in the Museum of Curiosities in the southeast corner of the West Incursion Zone. There are Hiss Nodes attached to the door — clear them to get inside.

The speaker is on display at the back of the museum. Hit the red button and it will start moving. Chase it down and contain it. That’s all four speakers secured.

    Subwoofer Location — Oldest House

The subwoofer is not on the streets. It’s been confiscated by the FBC and locked in a storage room inside the Oldest House.

First, speak to Langston at the Field Office in Central. He confirms the subwoofer’s location and hands over an SR clearance keycard — you need this to open the locked door. If you need more context on keycard clearances, see our SR keycard clearance level guide.

Now head to the Oldest House in Downtown and retrace your steps toward Executive Research — the same area from the game’s opening. Take the first elevator up toward Executive Research. Near the bunker area, you’ll find a locked door marked SR. Open it with Langston’s keycard.

Interact with the subwoofer inside the storage room. This spawns a wave of Hiss — take them out. After the fight, the subwoofer will start moving around the room. Chase it, wait for it to pause, and contain it. You now have the complete set.

How to Complete the Auction House Ritual

With all four speakers and the subwoofer in hand, return to the Auction House in Downtown.

Step 1 — Place Everything on the Leather Couch

Find the leather couch near the Auction House civilian. Interact with it to place all five components on it. This is your staging area before the ritual. Do not skip this step — placing speakers directly in the room without staging them on the couch first can cause issues.

Step 2 — Place Each Piece on the Correct Surface

Read the collectible “The SINKKI D50 Speaker Set” inside the Auction House if you haven’t already — it tells you exactly which surface each speaker belongs on. The four speakers are interchangeable between surface types — it doesn’t matter which speaker came from where. What matters is the surface each one rests on.

Here is where to place each piece:

    • Glass surface: Place one speaker on the glass surface on top of the black boxes near the bottom of the stairs.
    • Stone/rock surface: Place one speaker on the black stone slabs on the stage on the north side of the room.
    • Raw wood: Place one speaker on the wooden bench on the upper mezzanine area near the generators.
    • Blue surface: Place one speaker on the blue tarp hanging off the edge of the opposite upper area.
    • Water: Place the subwoofer in the puddle on the ground beside the civilian.

If a placement doesn’t register, pick the item back up, return it to the couch, and try again. Make sure it’s sitting squarely on the surface.

Step 3 — Talk to the Civilian

Once all five pieces are correctly placed, go back to the civilian and speak to her. The ritual begins. The room will start responding — the speakers become active and will try to knock you back with pulses. Stay mobile.

Step 4 — Shut Down All Four Speakers Fast

Your job now is to shut down all four regular speakers before any of them reactivate. The subwoofer stays on for now — do not touch it yet.

Move quickly in a loop around the room. Avoid the pulse timing, move in during the lull, and shut each one down. A good route is to start at the glass speaker, go to the stone speaker, then the wood, then the blue tarp — a clockwise path keeps you efficient. If one speaker reactivates before you finish, the sequence resets and you have to repeat the whole step.

Step 5 — Interact with the Subwoofer for the Final Choice

Once all four speakers are off, walk up to the subwoofer. You’ll be given a choice.

Should You Turn the Subwoofer Off or Turn the Volume Up?

This is the defining moment of the quest. The subwoofer asks Dylan to make a decision, and the two options have different outcomes for the civilian.

    Turn the Subwoofer Off

Choosing to turn off the subwoofer closes the paranormal gateway it opened. The entity is shut out — but the civilian dies as a result. The power holding her alive is severed along with the entity.

    Turn the Subwoofer Volume Up

Choosing to turn the volume up allows the paranormal entity inside the subwoofer to fully enter the civilian’s body. The entity takes over — but the civilian’s body stays alive. She survives in some form, though not entirely herself.

    Which Should You Pick?

The gameplay reward is the same either way — you receive the Bout Guard artifact recipe regardless of your choice. The only difference is the civilian’s fate. There is no wrong answer mechanically, so pick based on how you want the story to play out. Most players consider the “volume up” route the kinder option since the civilian lives, but neither ending is clean.

Tips for The Complete Set Quest

    • Read the collectibles. The “There’s People in There” note and “The SINKKI D50 Speaker Set” collectible tell you everything you need. Missing them makes the quest much harder to follow.
    • Speak to Langston early. Get the SR keycard as soon as you know about the subwoofer. It saves a separate trip to Central later.
    • Stage everything on the couch first. Always place the full set on the leather couch before moving pieces to their ritual positions. Skipping this can bug the placement detection.
    • Shut down the speakers in a loop. Go clockwise around the room to hit all four fast. The subwoofer waits — never shut it down before the four regular speakers.
    • Don’t carry speakers across fast travel. If you’re managing multiple items, contain each one and come back for the next rather than trying to carry them in batches.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many speakers are in The Complete Set quest in Control Resonant?

There are four SINKKI D50 speakers plus one subwoofer — five components total. All five must be collected and returned to the Auction House to complete the ritual.

Where is the subwoofer in Control Resonant?

The subwoofer is in a locked storage room near Executive Research in the Oldest House. You need the SR clearance keycard from Langston at the Central Field Office to open the door.

What surfaces do the speakers go on in the Auction House ritual?

Glass, stone, raw wood, and blue tarp for the four regular speakers — and the subwoofer goes in the water puddle on the ground beside the civilian. The placement instructions are in the “The SINKKI D50 Speaker Set” collectible.

What happens if I turn off the subwoofer?

The entity is expelled and the gateway closes, but the civilian dies. Turning the volume up keeps her alive — possessed, but alive.

Does the subwoofer choice affect the reward?

No. Both choices give the same reward — the Bout Guard artifact recipe. The choice only affects the civilian’s story outcome.
