How to Complete the Dante the Great Thief Bounty in Crimson Desert

Can't find Dante the Great Thief in Crimson Desert? Here's the full guide to unlocking, locating, and capturing him for the House Felix bounty.

TL;DR

  • Dante the Great Thief is a story-locked bounty tied to the House Felix faction questline
  • You need to reach Chapter 4 and complete Hernand Faction Quests before he spawns
  • Find the bounty poster near Muckroot Ranch or on poles around Hernand
  • Head to Inksworth Bindery southwest of Hernand, liberate it from Bleed Bandits, then catch Dante when he runs
  • Deliver him alive to the Hernand Constabulary for the full reward

If you’ve been staring at an empty Inksworth Bindery wondering where Dante is, you’re not alone. This bounty trips up a lot of players because Dante doesn’t follow the normal rules. He’s not just standing somewhere waiting to be caught. He’s story-locked, and you have to do a bit of prep work before he even shows up.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Why Can’t I Find Dante the Great Thief?

This is the most common question about this bounty, and the answer is simple. Dante the Great Thief is not a regular bounty. He’s tied directly to the House Felix faction questline under the Family Concerns questline in Hernand. If you go to the map marker before meeting the requirements, the Inksworth Bindery will be empty. No Dante, no bandits, nothing.

You need to reach Chapter 4 of the main story and complete the Hernand Faction Quests connected to House Felix first. Once you’ve hit that point in the campaign, the bounty becomes available and Dante will actually exist in the world.

Check your Crimson Desert main story quest progress if you’re unsure where you are in the campaign.

Step 1 — Find the Bounty Poster

Once you’ve progressed far enough, you can pick up the bounty notice in the southern outskirts of Hernand City. Look for it on a wooden pole south of Muckroot Ranch or on posts around Hernand’s surroundings. The poster can also appear near other wooden structures in the area.

Read the bounty notice after picking it up. This officially adds the Dante the Great Thief quest to your journal under the House Felix Family Concerns questline.

Step 2 — Head to Inksworth Bindery

The map marker leads you to the Inksworth Bindery, located southwest of Hernand City along the Nas River. It’s east of the Witchwood, across the river, past the Howling Hills area.

When you arrive, you still won’t see Dante. The Bindery needs to be liberated first.

Step 3 — Liberate the Inksworth Bindery

Speak to a bystander near the Inksworth Bindery. This unlocks the objective to clear out the Bleed Bandits who have taken over the building. The good news is that there are only a handful of common enemies here. It’s a small camp and shouldn’t give you much trouble.

If you’ve been working on your gear and building a solid early setup, this fight is over quickly. Clear the bandits and a short cutscene will trigger.

Step 4 — Chase and Capture Dante

After the cutscene ends, Dante rushes out of the Bindery and immediately tries to escape. Don’t stop to loot anything. Don’t look at the cutscene and then walk away. The moment it ends, sprint after him.

He runs fast but isn’t faster than a horse, and Kliff can close the gap on foot if you react right away. When you get close enough, tackle him (X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, or R on keyboard). Get him on the ground.

Once he’s down, hit him a few times — three strikes is typically enough — until the prompt appears to tie him up. Don’t go overboard. Dante needs to be delivered alive. If you kill him, you only receive half the bounty reward.

After tying him up, throw him over your shoulder or load him onto your horse.

Step 5 — Deliver Dante to the Constabulary

Bring Dante back to Hernand City and head to the Constabulary, which is the jailhouse. Walk inside and hand him over to the guards. That’s the bounty complete.

You’ll receive your silver and contribution points. More importantly, this completes two House Felix quests at once — the Dante bounty and the Liberating Inksworth Bindery objective — which opens up further House Felix quests in the Family Concerns questline.

What If Dante Doesn’t Spawn or Disappears?

A few players have run into issues with Dante’s spawn behavior. Here’s what can go wrong and how to fix it:

He spawns north of the Bindery instead of inside it. Some players find Dante about a hundred meters north of the building, already running south along the road. If this happens, just intercept him on the road. Chase and tackle him the same way.

He’s near the river and already dead. This is the worst case. If Dante dies before you reach him, you only get half the reward. Reload an earlier save if this happens and try again.

He’s not spawning at all. Fast travel to the Howling Hills camp, sleep until somewhere between 8am and 5pm in-game, then fast travel back. Stand on the path leading to the Bindery and Dante should appear. If the Bleed Bandits didn’t spawn properly, ride at least 500 meters away from the Bindery and come back. That usually forces the area to reset and re-phase correctly.

Tips for the Dante Bounty

Don’t loot the Bindery after the cutscene. You can come back for everything later. If you stop to check containers, Dante gains distance and can despawn.

Use your horse for the return trip. Carrying a captive while walking all the way back to Hernand takes a while. Mount up and ride. It saves a lot of time.

Capture, don’t kill. Like almost every bounty in Crimson Desert, killing Dante cuts your reward in half. Three hits to subdue, then tie him up. That’s all you need.

Check your journal for faction progress. If the bounty isn’t unlocking, it means your House Felix questline isn’t far enough along. Prioritize those faction quests before hunting Dante.
