The Deceiver’s Fedora is one of the most satisfying items in Crimson Desert. It turns the Duo card game from a gamble into a controlled system. Once you are wearing it at the table, you can peek at every opponent’s hand and make decisions with full information. No more guessing, no more losing Silver to bad calls.
Getting it takes a bit of work. There are two gates to clear before the hat even appears in a shop, and the shop itself is not marked on your map until you unlock it. Here is exactly how to do all of it.
What Is the Deceiver’s Fedora in Crimson Desert?
The Deceiver’s Fedora — also called the Gambler Hat — is a worn felt hat described as being favored by a legendary gambler. The golden monocle on its brim is lore-wise imbued with magic that lets the wearer see through the surface of things. In gameplay terms, it gives you a unique action called Steal a Look at Hand during card games, letting you view your opponents’ cards in secret.
It has minimal combat stats (Defense 2–9), so this is not a piece of gear you use for fighting. It is a utility item specifically built for the gambling minigames scattered across Pywel.

How to Get the Deceiver’s Fedora in Crimson Desert — Step by Step
Step 1 — Travel to Tashkalp and Find the Bonepit
The Deceiver’s Fedora is sold by a Mineral Dealer named Teratien at the Bonepit in Tashkalp, located in the Crimson Desert region. Specifically, the arena is in the small town of Tommaso within Tashkalp.
Head to Tommaso and look for the “Emperor of the Bonepit” quest marker. You will see a small circle within a larger white circle on your map. When you arrive, a Greymane will be nearby — speak to them and let the cutscene play. They explain that the reigning Bonepit champion is suspected of cheating, and Kliff needs to enter the fights to investigate.
Teratien and the Mineral Shop do not appear at all until you complete the Bonepit questline. Do not bother looking for the shop before that.

Step 2 — Complete the Bonepit Arena Fights
The Bonepit is a bare-fist arena. No weapons, no shields. You fight with your fists only. Before speaking to the Host to enter, open your Weapons Wheel and switch to your Ordinary Gloves so you are set up from the start.
There are three fights in total, escalating in difficulty.
Fight 1 — Drakane
Drakane is the weakest of the three opponents. He uses a few basic combos but is straightforward to handle. Mix Square and Triangle attacks with R1+R2 to bully him down. This fight is mostly a warm-up.
Fight 2 — Jaleel
Jaleel hits harder and absorbs more damage than Drakane. Apply the same approach — pressure him with combos and use Focus (L3+R3) to rebuild Spirit between bursts.
Fight 3 — Muskan (Arena Champion)
Muskan is the real challenge. He is much larger than a normal human and relies entirely on brute strength. The good news: once you beat Drakane and Jaleel, you can rematch Muskan as many times as you need without redoing the earlier fights. So if you lose to him, just come back and try again with no penalty.
Here is how to handle Muskan’s main attacks:
Charge and Heavy Punch — He pauses briefly then rushes forward with a powerful swing. You can block this with your shield raised, or sidestep in the opposite direction of his charge. Once he whiffs, close in and land your best combo before he recovers.
Instant Kick — He circles you watching for an opening, then fires a kick with little warning. Roll away the moment you see him shift sideways. Once dodged, attack fast and pull back before he chains another move.
Supercharge Combo — He charges energy with both hands then rushes in with a flurry of punches that launch you into the air. This is his most dangerous attack. When you see the energy charge-up animation, sprint sideways and keep moving until the animation ends, then punish the recovery.
Champion’s Combo (Super Armor) — During this invulnerable move he will kick and throw you into the air. While he is in super armor, stay mobile and dodge rather than trying to trade hits. Use the nearby arena pillars to put distance between you.
The most effective strategy against Muskan is to focus on Grappling (Triangle+Circle on PS5 / X+Square on Xbox) and Spirit attacks. Spam Grappling when he is open and use Focus (L3+R3) to counter his hits with L1 just before they connect. Heavy attacks followed by a Force Palm punch also works well to stunlock him briefly.
If you have Focused Insight (Focus Level 3), use it throughout this fight. It lets you press L1 during Focus to slow time and counter incoming attacks, which makes reading Muskan’s moves much more forgiving.
Beating Muskan completes the Emperor of the Bonepit quest. As a bonus, you also receive the Combat God’s Plate Gloves — a powerful piece of gear with Lightning Affinity and the Showstopper Abyss Gear. See our full Bonepit walkthrough and Combat God’s Plate Gloves guide for more detail on how to prepare and what to expect.
Step 3 — Find Teratien at the Mineral Shop
Once Muskan is defeated, the Mineral Dealer Teratien appears at the Mineral Shop in Tashkalp. He is now marked on your map. Head over and speak to him.
The Deceiver’s Fedora will not be in his shop yet. You need to reach 100 Trust with him first before it appears in his inventory.
Step 4 — Build 100 Trust With Teratien
Building Trust with Teratien works the same way as other merchants in Crimson Desert — gift him Copper Pouches. Each Copper Pouch gives 10 Trust points, so you only need 10 Copper Pouches to go from zero to 100.
Copper Pouches are a common drop from human enemies, bandit camps, and enemy patrols throughout Hernand and the Crimson Desert region. You can also loot them from bodies after fights. If you are short, pickpocketing NPCs is another option — just make sure you have a Mask equipped before attempting it. For the full pickpocketing method, see our guide on how to pickpocket in Crimson Desert.
Once all 10 pouches are gifted and Trust hits 100, refresh Teratien’s shop. The Deceiver’s Fedora will now appear in his Buy inventory.
Step 5 — Buy the Deceiver’s Fedora for 97 Silver
The hat costs 97 Silver. If you are short on funds, here are fast ways to get the Silver you need.
The Demeniss Wildlife Park is a reliable spot for quick Silver. Noble men and women in the park sometimes carry a Gold Bar in their pockets. Pickpocket one, take it to any bank, and exchange it for 500 Silver — more than enough to cover the hat’s cost with change to spare.
For more money-making methods, see our guides on how to make money fast in Crimson Desert, how to farm Silver with the five card game, and how to get Gold Bars in Crimson Desert.
Once you have the Silver, buy the hat. It is now in your inventory and ready to equip.

How to Use the Deceiver’s Fedora in Crimson Desert
Equip the Deceiver’s Fedora from your headgear slot using the Quick Slot. Once it is on your head, head to any gambling table and start a game of Duo.
After the sticks are dealt at the start of a round, look at the bottom-right of your screen. You will see a new action: Steal a Look at Hand. Activate it to secretly view one of your opponents’ cards.
A few things worth knowing about how this works in practice:
Timing matters. Activating it during your own turn can accidentally commit you to a high bet before you intend. It is safer to use it during another player’s turn so you can gather information without triggering an unintended action.
Watch for other cheaters. If an opponent’s thumb is pointing upward when they grab the Duo sticks, they are cheating. If the thumb points down, they are not. Catching cheaters at the table is a separate mechanic that matters for specific Challenges and Changes quest requirements.
The hat works at all gambling locations. The Duo card game is available at taverns across Pywel, including Hernand and a higher-stakes version in Beighen in Pailune. The Beighen game requires a 150 Silver buy-in but generally pays out more when you win — with the Fedora equipped, those odds shift heavily in your favour. For a full breakdown of how the card game works, see our Duo card game guide.
Tips for Getting the Deceiver’s Fedora in Crimson Desert
Stock up on Copper Pouches before going to Tashkalp. You need 10 for Teratien, and having them ready means you can max Trust in a single visit rather than making return trips.
Prepare for a unarmed fight. The Bonepit does not allow weapons. If your unarmed combat skills are underdeveloped, invest a few Abyss Artifacts into Unarmed Combat and Grappling before heading to Tommaso. See our best skills to level up first guide for help prioritising.
Do not go to Muskan underprepared. He is a genuine difficulty spike, especially compared to Drakane and Jaleel. Make sure you have maxed health and stamina before the fight. See our guides on how to get max health in Crimson Desert and how to get max stamina in Crimson Desert.
The Fedora pairs well with the Pirate King Hat cosmetically. If you enjoy collecting unique headgear in Crimson Desert, see our guide on how to get the Pirate King Hat for another standout piece.
Pair it with a good Silver farming method. The hat is most useful when you have Silver to bet. The Skyroot-based Tart Special Meal reduces stamina costs, which helps in extended gambling sessions — see our guide on how to get Skyroot in Crimson Desert to keep your cooking supplies stocked.
