Approach the crane controls at ground level and interact with them.

Lower the claw down toward the rock slab on the ground below. Move it carefully until one side of the claw locks onto the edge of the rock.

Then ease the other claw arm into position to fully lock onto the slab. The camera will zoom in slightly once you have a proper grip.

Press up to pull the rock slab upward. It will lift clear and reveal a hidden shaft underneath.
