  • Earn points fast by doing faction quests and bounties in each region.

How to Use Contribution Crowns in Crimson Desert

The Contribution Crown is one of the best-kept secrets in Crimson Desert. It looks like a cosmetic item sitting at the top of the Contribution Shop. Most players either ignore it or buy it thinking it’s just a fancy hat. It’s not. Equipping the right crown in the right region unlocks hidden inventory at select vendors — including some of the best horse gear in the game.

This guide explains exactly what the Contribution Crown does, how to get one, where to use it, and which vendors are worth checking. For a full overview of everything in the game, visit our Crimson Desert guide hub.

What Is a Contribution Crown in Crimson Desert?

A Contribution Crown is a wearable headgear item you buy from a regional Contribution Shop. It costs 70 Contribution Points, which is the highest-priced item at most shops.

The crown’s real function is to act as a key. When you wear it while visiting vendors in the same region the crown belongs to, certain vendors will show new items in their stock that are otherwise invisible. These are hidden “prestige” items that you cannot see or buy without the crown equipped.

The game gives you zero explanation of this. Most players discover it by accident or through community discussion. Now you know.

All Contribution Crown Locations in Crimson Desert

Every major region has its own version of the crown. Each one costs 70 Contribution Points and can only be purchased at that region’s Contribution Shop. The crowns confirmed in the game are:

  • Hernandian Crown — Hernand Contribution Shop, inside Hernand Castle. Unlocks hidden vendor stock in the Hernand region, including the Baltheon Plate Armor at the Hernand smith.
  • Delesyian Crown — Delesyia Contribution Shop, inside Delesyia Castle. You need to wear the Visione Helmet to enter the castle grounds. Unlocks premium horse gear at Rondelle, the Delesyia saddler, including high-stat horseshoes, a champron, and a saddle with a large HP bonus.
  • Demenissian Crown — Demeniss Contribution Shop, inside Demeniss Castle. Follows the same regional unlock pattern. Worth checking Fiona’s vendor stock after equipping it.
  • Varnian Crown — Varnia Contribution Shop, in the town of Varnia in the far northeast of the map. Unlocks gear at Zara, the Varnia saddler — including the Hagmund Champron, Hagmund Saddle, and the Hagmund Barding, which is reportedly the strongest horse armor in the game.
  • Pailunese Crown — Pailune Contribution Shop. Only accessible after liberating Pailune in the main story.

How to Use a Contribution Crown

Using the crown is simple once you have one. Here’s what to do:

  • Step 1: Buy the crown from the Contribution Shop in the region you want to unlock. It costs 70 points.
  • Step 2: Open your inventory and equip the crown to your head slot.
  • Step 3: Stay in that region and visit vendors, especially saddleries and blacksmiths.
  • Step 4: Check each vendor’s stock carefully. Hidden items will now appear that weren’t there before.

The crown must be equipped — not just in your inventory — for the effect to trigger. Some players report that simply owning it can sometimes work, but equipping it is the safest way to make sure hidden stock appears.

Not every vendor will have secret items. The saddleries across most regions are the most consistent places to find premium unlocked gear, particularly top-tier horse equipment. It’s worth visiting the blacksmith, armor vendor, and stables in each area when you’re wearing the crown.

You may also need to have maxed out Trust with the vendor for some items to appear. If a vendor’s hidden stock doesn’t show up, try building their trust first before checking again.

If you want the best horse gear in the game, the crowns are essential. See our guide to the best horse and horse gear in Crimson Desert to know what you’re aiming for.

Can You Refund the Contribution Crown?

Yes. This is important to know before you spend 70 points.

Contribution Crowns are fully refundable. You can sell any crown back to the Contribution Shop it came from and receive all 70 points back. No penalty, no durability loss, no waiting period.

This means the crown is essentially a zero-cost unlock tool. Buy it, check the vendors, buy whatever hidden items you want with silver, then sell the crown back and reclaim your 70 points to spend on other things. You don’t need to hold onto it permanently.

How to Earn 70 Contribution Points Fast

Contribution Points are region-specific. Points earned in Hernand can only be spent in Hernand. You’ll need to grind each region separately. Here’s how to do it efficiently:

Do Faction Quests and Bounties

These are the fastest methods by far. Faction quests and bounties reward a large amount of Contribution XP in a short time. Bounties in particular are short tasks that are easy to chain together. Check our guides on bounties like the Sigrid bounty, Aera outlaw bounty, and Wolfe outlaw bounty if you want to farm Hernand Contribution fast.

Liberate Enemy Camps and Strongholds

Clearing bandit camps and occupied strongholds gives a solid chunk of Contribution XP in one hit. These are efficient because you’re getting combat rewards, loot, and Contribution progress all at once.

Complete Side Quests and Notice Board Commissions

Any quest done for a faction or its residents earns Contribution. Notice board commissions are repeatable and stack up over time. They’re not as fast as bounties but work well when you’re already in the area.

Equip Frostcursed Plate Boots

The Frostcursed Plate Boots give a flat 10% bonus to all Contribution XP you earn. This may sound small, but it adds up quickly when grinding bounties. Equip them before any Contribution farming session.

Give Coins to Beggars

This is the slowest method, but useful when you’re just one or two points short of the next level. You can donate coins to beggars once per day in each region for a small Contribution gain.

Avoid Criminal Actions

Stealing costs you 5 Contribution Points per item — even if you’re not caught. Attacking or killing non-hostile NPCs costs even more. If you’re grinding toward 70 points, avoid crime entirely or use the Great Thief’s Gloves, which give a 30-minute window where theft won’t trigger the penalty. If you need help cleaning up a bounty, see our guide on how to remove a bounty in Crimson Desert.

Contribution Crown vs. Other Contribution Shop Items — Is It Worth It?

Seventy points is a lot. The question is whether the crown’s hidden vendor unlock is worth spending that much when you could buy several pieces of solid armor for fewer points.

The answer depends on the region. In Delesyia and Varnia, the unlocked saddlery items are genuinely among the best horse gear in the game. If you care about your mount’s performance, those crowns pay off immediately. In Hernand, the unlocked Baltheon Plate Armor at the smith is another strong reward.

The refund system makes the decision much easier. You don’t have to permanently commit 70 points to a crown. Buy it, unlock and purchase the vendor items using silver, then sell the crown back. You get the hidden items and your points back. It’s one of the best value plays in the game once you understand how it works.

Contribution Crown Tips and Notes

  • Each crown only works in the region it belongs to. The Hernandian Crown does nothing in Delesyia and vice versa.
  • Contribution Points are region-locked. You can’t transfer them between regions.
  • The maximum Contribution level per region is 100, so you can earn at most 100 spendable points per region.
  • If you’re trying to unlock the Delesyia shop, you must wear the Visione Helmet to enter the castle grounds first.
  • The Tashkalp Contribution pool covers both Tommaso and Varnia, so work done in either location counts toward both shops.
  • Hernand and Scholastone share the same Contribution pool, so you can grind either location to fund the Hernandian Crown.
  • You can use Contribution Points to hire workers for your camp as well — keep this in mind when planning your spending.
