Crimson Desert Refined Palmar Pill Recipe Location
What Is the Refined Palmar Pill?
The Refined Palmar Pill is the upgraded version of the standard Palmar Pill in Crimson Desert. When you die in combat, it automatically triggers a revive — but instead of coming back at 30% health like the regular version, you come back at full 100% health.
That difference matters a lot. Against tough multi-phase bosses, getting back up at full health gives you a real second chance. The standard pill often just delays a second death. The Refined version actually keeps you in the fight.
If you have not grabbed the regular Palmar Pill recipe yet, check out our guide on how to get and use Palmar Pills in Crimson Desert first before moving on to the Refined version.

Refined Palmar Pill Recipe Location
The Refined Palmar Pill blueprint is found in an Abyss island called Ascetic’s Rest. You cannot get there by simply exploring. It is locked behind story progression.
You need to reach Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert and start the subchapter called Six Statues and the Beast. The specific quest that takes you there is called “Face the Inner Self.” During this quest, you will be sent into the Abyss through the Jijeong Temple Pagoda.
Once you arrive at Ascetic’s Rest as part of the main story, go to the top of the stairs and look for a bench on the right side. On that bench, you will find:
- The Refined Palmar Pill Blueprint
- 3 free Refined Palmar Pills to take with you right away
Pick up the blueprint and examine it to permanently learn the recipe. You can now craft Refined Palmar Pills at any Cauldron in the game.
If you are doing the Ascetic’s Rest Abyss puzzle as well, our Crimson Desert Ascetic’s Rest Abyss Puzzle Solution will walk you through it.

Refined Palmar Pill Crafting Ingredients
The Refined Palmar Pill uses completely different ingredients from the standard version. You cannot substitute regular herbs here.
You will need:
- Palmar Leaves
- Palmar Beetles
Both of these materials are found in the same place — a small grove just north of Pororin Village, near Crescent Lake in the Demeniss region. Head there and gather as many as you can. They respawn over time, so you can return regularly to restock.
Craft the pills at any Cauldron. If you need to set one up, our guide on how to get a Cauldron in Crimson Desert covers everything you need to know.
Regular Palmar Pill Recipe — Quick Recap
If you are newer to the game and still working toward Chapter 9, here is a fast summary of the regular Palmar Pill recipe to keep you going in the meantime.
The standard Palmar Pill blueprint is found in Shadow’s Whisper Cave, located just northwest of Hernand City near Three Saints’ Falls. Look for a narrow crack in the cliffside. Inside, you will find a witch’s alchemy chamber with the recipe on a table on the right side and a Cauldron on the left side, so you can start crafting immediately.
Two free regular Palmar Pills are also on the table next to the recipe.
Crafting requirements for regular Palmar Pill:
- 2x Water
- 15x of any single compatible herb (Rosemary, Peony, Lavender, Marigold, Pine Mushroom, Oakwood Mushroom, and many more — you cannot mix and match)
Buy water easily from the Grocer or Innkeeper in Hernand. Herbs grow all over the world. Rosemary can even be found hanging inside buildings in Hernand if you know how to steal items in Crimson Desert.
You also need to have unlocked Cauldrons first, which happens after completing Chapter 5 and defeating Kearush the Slayer. Our guide on how to beat Kearush the Slayer will help you get past that wall.
How to Use Palmar Pills in Combat
When Kliff dies in combat, you will see an “Instant Revive” prompt on screen. Select it to consume one Palmar Pill from your inventory and revive right where you fell.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Enemies do not stop attacking during your revive animation. If you get hit again before you fully stand up, the pill is wasted and you die anyway.
- Time your revive to a moment when the boss is not mid-swing or mid-combo.
- After reviving, immediately eat some food to top up your health further. Cooking a good healing meal before boss fights is always worth it. Our guide on how to cook best healing food in Crimson Desert covers your best options.
- Always carry at least a few pills before entering any Abyss area or taking on a major boss. Check out our Crimson Desert All Bosses Locations to plan ahead.
Tips for Farming Materials
For regular Palmar Pill herbs: Pine Mushrooms respawn near the hill by the Greymane camp. Peonies grow along roadsides throughout Pywel and can be farmed in bulk in a short time.
For Refined Palmar Pill materials: Head north of Pororin Village and gather Palmar Leaves and Palmar Beetles. The grove is reliable and respawns regularly.
Keep a steady stock of both types. The regular pills are great for earlier content, but once you hit the late game and start tackling harder Abyss zones, the Refined version becomes essential. Going through the late Abyss cluster challenges — like the Ice Cradle Puzzle or the tougher Abyss bosses — without a full pill supply is asking for trouble.

Where to Find More Pills Without Crafting
If you are low on materials, you can also find scattered Palmar Pills throughout the world. They have a faint green glow, so look closely on altars, stone ledges, tables, and inside abandoned tents. They are not marked on the minimap, but they are worth picking up whenever you spot one.
Pills also appear inside hidden treasure chests and as quest rewards from time to time. Check our Crimson Desert Best Items Early guide if you want to prioritize what to collect first.
