The festival in Deltarune Chapter 5 is one of the most packed Light World sections in the entire game. Kris, Susie, and Noelle head out together — with Kris awkwardly playing third wheel on Susie and Noelle’s first date — and the streets of Hometown are full of familiar faces, new interactions, and small moments that reward players who explore thoroughly. There are 15 activities in total. None of them are required to progress, but several are too good to miss.
- The festival runs from the school gate all the way to the beach. Explore left to right to catch everything in order.
- Talk to Noelle’s dad near the Town Hall before entering the festival gate for extra story context.
- Do not approach Asgore’s flower stall until you have done everything else. It triggers the beach scene and the festival closes behind you.
- There are 15 interactive activities across the festival area.
- The King and Queen vote, the Ferris wheel pairing, and the live performance are the most story-relevant stops.

Before the Festival Gate — Town Exploration
Once Noelle joins the group outside the school, Susie asks Kris to lead the way. Before you reach the festival gate, the town itself has new dialogue and a few important stops worth making.
Talk to Noelle’s Dad at the Town Hall
Head south from the school and look for Rudy, Noelle’s dad, setting up lighting for the Town Hall. He has been discharged from the hospital and is doing the decorations himself. Talk to him multiple times. The conversation gives meaningful context about Noelle’s family, her mother Carol’s absence, and the emotional undercurrent that pays off later in the beach scene. Rudy is notably warm and supportive of Susie, which makes the exchange feel particularly worth having.
Overhear the Flower King Conversation
On the path toward the school, you can stop and listen to Asgore talking about his flower shop, Toriel’s financial situation on a single teacher’s salary, and his hope to get his old job back if things go well with Carol. This conversation is easy to walk past but adds real texture to the family dynamics at the heart of Chapter 5. It does not affect progression, but first-time players should hear it.
Try to Visit Kris’s House
Pass by the Dreemurr residence and interact with the front. Toriel is visible in the garden, and the trio will comment on seeing her. You cannot go inside, but the short exchange is a small, cozy moment before the festival energy picks up. The house sits between the church area and the diner, so it is easy to trigger without going out of your way.
Inside the Festival — All 15 Activities
Once you reach the gate marked “Festival” and find the previously locked black gate now open, head through. The festival area stretches along a main road. Work left to right and you will hit every activity naturally.
1. Eat Fried Octopus Dough Balls
Straight across the road from the school entrance, the Librarby Monster is running a takoyaki stall — fried dough balls stuffed with octopus. You can have each character eat them for individual dialogue reactions. Susie notably says they taste like raw onion, which sets up a dark running joke given what is implied about where the octopus may have come from based on Chapter 4.
2. Try the Dunk Tank
Purpleguy is running the dunk tank just next to the dough ball stall. You can choose to dunk or be the one sitting in the tank. Each choice gives different dialogue. It is a quick interaction but a funny one, especially if you put a specific character in the hot seat.
3. Use the Strength Tester
To the left of the dunk tank is a strength tester run by Napstablook and the Wet-Nose Bandits. You pick two of the three party members to work together and hit the machine simultaneously. Each pairing produces different results and dialogue. Susie and Noelle swinging together is the obvious choice for the date dynamic, but trying other combinations gives you more character moments.
4. Get Scared by Alphys
Somewhere along the festival path, Alphys drops from the ceiling on a rope and quietly says “boo.” Noelle, despite being apparently used to church scares, jumps dramatically. Alphys then just dangles there awkwardly. The scene continues if you talk to Alphys afterward — Noelle keeps trembling for a while. It is one of the best comedy beats of the whole festival section.
5. Buy Mega Cinnamon Bunnies
On the next road up, outside the diner, there is a stall selling Mega Cinnamon Bunnies. Interact with it and Noelle will offer to buy them for everyone. It is a small, sweet moment that fits perfectly into the date atmosphere. Do not skip it.
6. Ride the Ferris Wheel
Head left of the diner and you will find Sans operating a Ferris wheel. You choose which two characters go on it together. This is Susie and Noelle’s date, so putting them together is the natural choice. The dialogue that follows is quietly romantic and one of the better character moments in the Light World section. If you put Kris on it and try to think about Susie, they end up wondering whether Sans is even qualified to be operating the machinery.
Different pairings produce different dialogue, so players who want to see every scene may want to save before this point and reload to try each combination.
7. Interact with the Teacup Ride
Sans is also running a teacup ride nearby, but it only has a single cup on it. If you point this out to Sans and leave the area, then come back, he has stacked a second cup on top of the first. Come back again and there are three stacked cups. Nobody asked him to do any of this. Interact with the giant teacup near the caricature stall for a short amusing dialogue as well.
8. Buy Ice Cream
Across from the Ferris wheel area, Sans is also somehow running an ice cream stand at the same time. Buy ice cream for the group. Each character reacts differently. It is a quick stop but worth doing before moving on.
9. Get a Caricature from Temmie
Just to the right of the ice cream stall, Temmie is running a caricature stall. She will draw the party. The results are exactly as chaotic as you would expect from Temmie. Interact with her fully and check the result for all the dialogue.
10. Knock on Napstablook’s House (If You Donated Tenna in Chapter 4)
If you donated Tenna to the Napstablook House in Chapter 4, you can knock on the door during the festival. Two different voices are audible inside, apparently watching television. You can choose between two options to hear what they are watching. This is a small bonus interaction that only appears if you made the right choice in a previous chapter, making it feel like a genuine reward for paying attention across the whole game.
11. Vote for Festival King and Queen
Head up another road from the caricature stall to find the voting station for the Festival King and Queen. You choose who gets your vote from a list of candidates, including the option to vote for Berdly. Voting for Susie as King and Noelle as Queen fits the date theme and is what the game leans toward.
The vote does not appear to have mechanical consequences in Chapter 5 itself. However, given that the Susie and Noelle relationship arc is clearly building toward something across chapters, many players believe the ballot results may shape future dialogue or even story outcomes. It is worth choosing carefully and keeping a backup save if you care about this for the long run.
12. Talk to Berdly
Head right of the voting station to find Berdly. The conversation that follows involves pity dates and Berdly being Berdly. It is a short but funny interaction that is very much in character for him. Checking in with him here also adds to the feeling that the whole town is present at this festival.
13. Watch the Live Performance at Noelle’s House
Head through the large gates to the left of the voting station to reach Noelle’s house area. A resident named Pizzapants is preparing to perform with his girlfriend Pizzarina in front of a small crowd. He is extremely nervous because people are waiting outside. You can talk to three girls standing in the crowd and send one of them to the stage to help him.
What follows is a chaotic performance that barely qualifies as one before it shuts itself down. The whole sequence is charming and ridiculous in equal measure. Do this before approaching Asgore’s stall, as the festival locks you out once you commit to the beach scene.
14. Buy Flowers from Asgore
To the right of Berdly, Asgore is running his flower stall as part of his plan to pay off debts and hopefully get his old job back. The trio awkwardly discusses buying flowers, and the implication is obvious — Susie and Noelle exchanging flowers as part of their date. The dialogue here is tender and a little clumsy in the best way.
Important: Asgore’s stall is the point of no return. After you interact with it, the game prompts you to go to the beach. If you select yes, the festival area closes and you cannot return. Make sure you have done every other activity first. Treat Asgore as the final stop on your festival checklist.
15. The Beach Scene
After the festival, the story moves to the beach where Susie and Noelle’s date continues. Susie grabs Noelle’s phone and throws it, setting off a moment that quickly shifts from comedic to genuinely touching. The scene ends abruptly when Noelle gets a call from her mom saying her dad has fallen off a ladder. By the time Susie returns to where Noelle was sitting, Noelle is already gone. It is one of the most emotionally effective scenes in Chapter 5. Take your time with it.

Does Any of This Affect the Story?
None of the festival activities are required to complete Chapter 5. Skipping them does not lock anything out in the current chapter. However, some choices — particularly the King and Queen vote and which characters you pair on the Ferris wheel — feel like they are laying groundwork for future chapters. Toby Fox has a history of making small decisions echo across chapters in unexpected ways, so playing carefully and exploring everything is worth doing on a first run.
