Destiny 2: All Praxic Blade Dark Matter Crystals

There are 15 Praxic Blade Dark Matter Crystals in total as of the Monument of Triumph update (June 2026).
Dark Matter Crystals are purely cosmetic — they change the color of the Praxic Blade’s energy beam with no gameplay effect.
All crystals are account-wide once unlocked. Get one on any character and every Guardian on your account can use it.
The original 12 crystals came from the Renegades expansion. Three new crystals were added in Monument of Triumph, including the Vex crystal.
Most crystals are random drops tied to specific activities — Invasions, Lawless Frontier jobs, the Equilibrium dungeon, and Exotic Orders.
Three crystals (White, Gradient, Purple) are Silver purchases in Eververse. You must finish the Praxic Path quest before they appear in the store.
The Taken crystal has no weekly lockout — you can farm Equilibrium as many times as you need until it drops.

Destiny 2 Praxic Blade Dark Matter Crystals let you change the color of your lightsaber’s energy beam. There are 15 crystals in total as of the Monument of Triumph update. Three of them were added in June 2026 alongside the game’s final live-service content patch. This guide covers every crystal, where it comes from, and the best way to farm each one.

What Are Praxic Blade Dark Matter Crystals?

Dark Matter Crystals are cosmetic items exclusive to the Praxic Blade Exotic sword. Equipping a crystal changes the color of the blade’s energy beam instantly. The beam color changes in gameplay, in cutscenes, and in the inspect screen.

There are no gameplay differences between crystals. They do not affect damage, perks, or stats. They are purely about how the sword looks.

Once you unlock a crystal on one character, it unlocks account-wide. You can swap between any of your unlocked crystals at any time through the Praxic Blade’s weapon inspection screen.

How to Get the Praxic Blade First

You need the Praxic Blade equipped to use Dark Matter Crystals. If you do not have it yet, play through the Renegades campaign. The fourth story mission, Fire and Ice, is an Exotic mission on Europa that drops the Praxic Blade on completion.

After finishing the campaign, pick up the Praxic’s Path Exotic quest from Aunor Mahal on Tharsis Outpost. Completing this quest is required before Eververse Silver crystals appear in the store.

All 15 Praxic Blade Dark Matter Crystal Colors and Sources

Green Crystal

Source: Completing the Fire and Ice Exotic mission for the first time. Your Praxic Blade drops with either Green or Blue at random. If you got Blue first, run Fire and Ice a second time as part of the Praxic’s Path quest to unlock Green.

Blue Crystal

Source: Same as Green — Fire and Ice Exotic mission on first or second completion. You get whichever one you did not get first. Both are effectively guaranteed through the Praxic’s Path quest.

Red Crystal

Source: Random RNG drop from Invasion runs in the Lawless Frontier. You must use at least one Deathmark during your Invasion run. The drop comes from the rewards chest at the end of the activity.

The Invasion does not have to be a successful clear. You can fail and still have a chance at the crystal as long as you used a Deathmark and opened the chest. Wagering more Deathmarks does not improve the drop rate. Expect multiple runs before it drops.

Orange Crystal

Source: Random drop from Lawless Frontier jobs on Mars. Keep running Mars jobs until it drops alongside your normal end-of-mission loot.

Indigo Crystal

Source: Random drop from Lawless Frontier jobs on Europa. Same method as Orange — just play Europa jobs repeatedly.

Magenta Crystal

Source: Random drop from Lawless Frontier jobs on Venus. Same method as Orange and Indigo.

For Orange, Indigo, and Magenta: each color is tied to a specific planet. Running jobs on the wrong planet will not drop the crystal you need. Pick one planet, farm its jobs, collect the crystal, then move to the next.

Cyan Crystal

Source: Random reward from completing high-level Contracts in the Lawless Frontier. Standard Contracts will not drop it. You need the higher-tier contract tier available through Faction reputation progression.

Yellow Crystal

Source: Reward from the Praxic Professional Exotic Order. Exotic Orders appear in the Active Orders section of the Seasonal Hub. They drop at random when you complete standard Orders. You can reroll an Exotic Order with Glimmer to try to get the Praxic Professional specifically.

Once you have a Praxic Professional Order, complete it by getting Praxic Blade final blows in a Pinnacle Ops activity without dying.

A fast method: load into The Whisper Exotic mission, push forward until you reach the grassy room, then drop through the floor into the thrall pit. Infinite Shadow Thralls spawn there. Farm sword kills until the Order is done. Return to Active Orders to manually claim the Yellow crystal.

Taken Crystal (Black)

Source: Random drop from the final rewards chest in the Equilibrium dungeon. You must complete all three encounters in a single run to be eligible. The drop is available on both Normal Mode and Contest Mode.

This crystal has no weekly lockout. Unlike dungeon Exotic weapon drops, the Taken crystal is freely farmable. You can run Equilibrium as many times as needed per week. Normal Mode is faster per run, so farm on Normal unless you are also chasing the Contest Mode title. The crystal can drop with a fireteam or solo — no restrictions.

White Crystal

Source: Eververse Silver purchase — the Jewel of Power cosmetic set. Costs 1,000 Silver. The set includes a Praxic Blade ornament and the White crystal. The White crystal is account-wide on purchase.

You must complete the Praxic Path Exotic quest before this set appears in your Eververse store.

Gradient Crystal

Source: Eververse Silver purchase — a separate 1,000 Silver cosmetic bundle. The blade displays a gradient color shift rather than a single flat color. Requires Praxic Path completion to appear in the store.

Purple Crystal

Source: Eververse Silver purchase — a third 1,000 Silver cosmetic bundle. Same unlock requirement as White and Gradient. Requires Praxic Path completion.

All three Silver crystals were available before Monument of Triumph. In 2026, Eververse moved to a Daily Offers system. Check the Daily Offers tab regularly if the bundles you need are not appearing in the standard store rotation — Silver items now cycle through daily slots rather than staying permanently visible.

New Crystals Added in Monument of Triumph (June 2026)

Three new Dark Matter Crystals were added with the Monument of Triumph update, bringing the total from 12 to 15.

Vex Crystal

Source: The Vex Dark Matter Crystal visually transforms the weapon almost completely, giving the Praxic Blade a Vex-themed energy aesthetic. It is one of the three new crystals added in Monument of Triumph. The exact activity source is tied to Monument of Triumph content — confirm the current drop source in-game as Bungie may have adjusted drop locations post-launch via hotfix.

The two remaining new Monument of Triumph crystals are also confirmed as additions in Update 9.7.0. Check the Praxic Blade’s crystal menu in-game for their current unlock conditions, as some sources may still be updating with post-launch confirmed data.

Tips for Farming Praxic Blade Dark Matter Crystals

Start with Green and Blue. Both are guaranteed through Fire and Ice and the Praxic Path quest. Get these out of the way first.
Farm one planet at a time for Orange, Indigo, and Magenta. Stay on Mars until Orange drops, then switch to Europa for Indigo, then Venus for Magenta. Mixing planets wastes runs.
Do not skip Deathmarks for Red. You must use at least one per Invasion run or the crystal cannot drop. Carry Deathmarks into every Invasion run while farming this.
The Taken crystal is the most freely farmable RNG crystal. No lockout means you can run Equilibrium back to back. Go in with a solid fireteam, run Normal Mode, and repeat until it drops.
Complete Praxic Path before checking Eververse. The three Silver crystals do not appear in the store at all until you finish the quest. Do not spend Silver before reaching that point.
Reroll Exotic Orders with Glimmer to chase the Praxic Professional faster. You cannot force it, but rerolling increases the odds of seeing it appear over time.
All crystals are account-wide. You only ever need to unlock each crystal once, regardless of how many characters you play.
