Method 2: Ranch Farm With Surfent (Passive)

Wandering Merchants and the merchant at Small Settlement sell Leather for 150 Gold each. This is a solid backup when you are a few pieces short of finishing a recipe, but it is too expensive to use as a primary supply method. Early Game Leather Pals

These Pals spawn in or near the starting area and are easy to catch at low level. Great for building your first stack of Leather quickly.

• Rushoar — spawns in groups from the starting island, easy catch, consistent drop. Runs in a line from around (894, -551) up toward (76, -309)
• Foxparks — found in the Grassy Behemoth Hills near the Rayne Syndicate Tower, often alongside Melpaca
• Melpaca — same area as Foxparks, also drops Wool as a bonus resource
• Fuack — drops both Leather and Pal Fluids in one run, making it a good dual-resource early target
• Direhowl — travels in packs, drops 1 to 2 Leather each, and those packs add up fast. Found along the western shore of the spawn island and in the northwest autumn forest

Mid to Late Game Leather Pals

Once you move past the starting region, the Leather pool gets much bigger. These targets give higher yields per kill.

Best Leather Farming Location — Bridge of the Twin Knights

For a dedicated active farming run, the Bridge of the Twin Knights area, northwest of the Desolate Church, is the best spot in the game. It has a dense cluster of Direhowl, Eikthyrdeer, Fenglope, Melpaca, and Mossanda all in the same broad loop — every single one of them drops Leather.

Start near the fast travel point, sweep through the surrounding fields, and catch or defeat every Leather target you find. Do not wait at a single spawn point — keep moving through the area. The Meat Cleaver Trick — Double Your Leather Output

If you then take that captured Pal back to base and butcher it with a Meat Cleaver, the drop table rolls again — giving you a second round of drops from the same Pal.

You also keep the Paldex entry from the original catch, so you do not lose any completion progress. This effectively doubles your Leather output per Pal without any extra time hunting. Catch everything, bring it home, butcher the ones you do not need, and your per-run yield goes up dramatically.

How to Boost Leather Drop Amounts

Two passives and one Partner Skill stack together to dramatically increase how much Leather you collect per run:

• Service Minded passive — increases item drops by 50%. Keep a Pal with this in your active party during hunting runs
• Lavish Hospitality passive — increases item drops by 100%. The stronger version from the new Rainbow tier added in 1.0. If you have this, use it instead of Service Minded
• Katress Partner Skill (Grimoire Collector) — increases drops from Neutral-type Pals while Katress is in your active party. Many common Leather-dropping Pals are Neutral type, so this can compound with the above passives for serious output on the right targets

How to Make a Leather Farm in Palworld — Surfent Ranch Setup

Surfent is the only Pal in the game that produces Leather passively when assigned to a Ranch. Its Swift Swimmer Partner Skill includes a Ranch behavior that drops Leather at regular intervals, and the output scales with Surfent’s level. This is the endgame answer to Leather farming — set it up once and it runs indefinitely.

Here is the full setup step by step.

Step 1 — Unlock and Build a Ranch

The Ranch unlocks at Technology Level 5 for 2 Technology Points. To build it you need 50 Wood, 20 Stone, and 30 Fiber. Build it anywhere on your base. Step 2 — Catch Surfent

Surfent spawns along the coastal stretches of the Desiccated Desert biome. It is active during both day and night, so there is no need to wait for a specific time. Catch at least one male and one female so you can breed them. The more Surfents you eventually place in the Ranch, the more Leather you produce per cycle — output scales directly with how many are working.

Step 3 — Breed More Surfents

Assign the male and female Surfent to a Breeding Farm to produce offspring. Repeat this several times until you have a solid group of Surfents to work with. The more Surfents you have available, the more you can fill the Ranch and the higher your passive Leather output per hour.

Step 4 — Level Them Up With Pal Condenser

Use the Pal Condenser to push your Surfents to higher levels. Higher-level Pals in the Ranch produce more Leather per cycle. Condense multiple copies of Surfent into your best ones before placing them in the Ranch for maximum output. This step takes some time but dramatically increases the farm’s efficiency.

Step 5 — Assign Surfents to the Ranch
