Soul Spear (Early OP Two-Handed Weapon) in Crimson Desert

TL;DR

  • The Soul Spear is a free unique spear with 27 base attack hidden in the Antumbra Ritual Grounds
  • Located in the Argent Peaks, northwest of Hernand — look at the “H” on the map
  • The dungeon entrance is set into a cliff wall and is easy to miss from ground level
  • You do not need to complete any quest or puzzle to grab it
  • Cold temperatures drain stamina faster — prepare accordingly
  • The Soul Spear cannot be upgraded or slotted with Abyss Gears, but carries you easily through Chapter 6

If you are in the early chapters of Crimson Desert and your weapons are not hitting hard enough, there is a free fix hiding in a snowy mountain dungeon that most players walk right past. The Soul Spear has 27 base attack — far above what most weapons offer in the first half of the game — and comes with a built-in passive that fires soul projectiles whenever you finish off an enemy. No quest required, no boss to beat first. You just have to know where to go.

This guide covers the exact location, how to navigate the dungeon, tips for dealing with the enemies inside, and everything you need to know about the weapon’s stats and limits.

Soul Spear Location in Crimson Desert

The Soul Spear is inside the Antumbra Ritual Grounds, also known as the Tomb of Frozen Souls. This is a concealed underground dungeon carved into the cliffs of the Argent Peaks, in the western mountains of Hernand.

On your world map, zoom into the Hernand region and find the large “H” in the word Hernand. The dungeon entrance sits right where the “H” is — specifically in the cliff wall near the gap between the two upper lines of the letter. The entrance is set into the rock face, which makes it very easy to miss if you are approaching from the valley floor below.

The best approach is to come from above. Approaching from Hoenmark Ruins is recommended. If you are coming from the bottom of the cliff, use Aerial Force Palm — jump and then use Force Palm — to propel yourself upward. This speeds up the climb significantly while saving stamina compared to raw climbing.

One important thing to know before you go: the Argent Peaks is a cold region, and the frost affects your stamina efficiency. It drains faster than normal up here. Take your time during the climb, find spots to recover stamina, and do not rush the ascent. Before heading out, it is worth reading our Crimson Desert ice resistance and frost protection guide so you are not caught off guard.

How to Get the Soul Spear

Once you reach the dungeon entrance, expect resistance. The Antumbra Ritual Grounds is packed with Antumbra Order soldiers — and these are not the standard weak bandits found around Hernand. They hit noticeably harder, especially if you are still in the early chapters with low-level gear.

Most guides recommend waiting until at least Chapter 3 with a Refinement Level 3 weapon before attempting this. You can try earlier, but the enemies inside will punish under-geared players quickly.

Dealing With the Flying Mages

The most annoying enemies in the dungeon are the flying mages. They hover out of melee reach and bombard you with dark magic from above while ground enemies keep you occupied. The best way to handle them is to use ranged attacks to knock them out of the sky first. The Focus Shot skill makes this significantly easier, as the mages move fast and are tricky to hit without it. For a full breakdown of dealing with airborne enemies, see our how to beat flying enemies in Crimson Desert guide.

Reaching the Soul Spear

From the dungeon entrance, head two floors down. The Soul Spear is on a platform on the south side of the lower level, floating at the center of the room. You will be able to see it as soon as you reach that floor.

The key thing many players miss: you need to sheathe your weapon before you can interact with the spear. If enemies are still nearby and actively fighting you, the pickup prompt will not appear. Either clear the immediate area or find a moment of calm, then put your weapon away (double-tap left on the D-pad, or press T on PC), walk up to the spear, and grab it.

Getting Out

Here is where things get a little clever. The game does not allow you to fast travel from inside the Antumbra Ritual Grounds. If you try to teleport out right after grabbing the spear, it will not work.

The simplest exit strategy is to die on purpose once you have the spear in hand. Let the remaining enemies finish you off, then select “Revive at Checkpoint” from the death screen. You will respawn outside the dungeon with the Soul Spear already in your inventory. Alternatively, you can fight your way back to the entrance and leave normally if you are confident in your build. You can also fast travel from outside the dungeon using any nearby Abyss Nexus point once you are clear.

Special Effect: Launches soul projectiles to strike nearby enemies upon defeating a target. Triggers once every 10 seconds.

The soul projectile fires in a fan-shaped spread when you land a finisher kill. The orbs do not track flying enemies well, but against grounded clustered enemies they are excellent. One clean kill in a crowd can chain additional damage into the surrounding group before a single swing lands. The 10-second cooldown resets fast enough to trigger multiple times across a longer fight.

With 27 base attack, the Soul Spear hits harder than almost anything you can find or buy in the first ten hours of the game, where most weapons hover around 10 to 14 attack. That gap is significant. Soul Spear Limitations — What to Know Before You Go

The Soul Spear has one major drawback: it cannot be upgraded. You cannot refine it, insert Abyss Gears into it, or push its stats any higher than 27. Pearl Abyss designed it around its built-in execution mechanic rather than stat scaling, so the ceiling is fixed from the moment you pick it up.

That said, 27 attack is more than enough to carry you through the main story comfortably until around Chapter 6, when enemies in central Demeniss and beyond begin scaling past what the Soul Spear can keep up with. At that point, you will want to transition to a weapon that supports Abyss Gears and proper upgrades. See our how to upgrade weapons and armor guide and how to reinforce equipment guide when that time comes.

For now, the Soul Spear is one of the best free weapons in the game for its stage, and the detour to the Argent Peaks is absolutely worth it.

Tips Before You Head to the Argent Peaks

  • Bring stamina food. The cold drains stamina faster than normal. Having recovery items on hand prevents a frustrating climb.
  • Unlock Focus Shot before going. It makes dealing with flying mages inside the dungeon much easier.
  • You do not need to clear the whole dungeon. You just need to reach the lower level, clear the immediate area around the spear, and pick it up.
  • Sheathe your weapon to trigger the pickup prompt. This trips up a lot of players.
  • Die to escape if needed. It is the fastest exit and you keep the spear.
  • Wait until Chapter 3 minimum if your current gear is still at low refinement levels.
