Neverness to Everness: Every Playable Character Available Right Now (& How To Unlock Them)

Here is every playable character in Neverness To Everness (NTE) right now, their element and role, and exactly how to unlock each one — free and gacha. Ṁ

TL;DR

  • NTE launched with 16 playable characters — a mix of S-rank and A-rank Espers.
  • 6 characters are completely free — Zero, Mint, Adler, Haniel, Aurelia, and Chiz.
  • The Standard Banner features 6 S-rank characters: Baicang, Daffodil, Fadia, Hathor, Jiuyuan, and Sakiri.
  • Nanally is the first Limited banner character (April 29 – May 13, 2026).
  • Hotori is the second Limited banner character (May 13 – June 3, 2026).
  • After 50 Standard Banner pulls, you get a free S-rank selector to pick any standard character.
  • NTE has no 50/50 system — you are guaranteed the featured character at 90 pulls.

One of the best things about Neverness To Everness is just how generous it is with its characters. You get several Espers for free just by playing the game, and the gacha system — called the Scarborough Fair Board — works like a board game rather than a simple pull screen. This guide covers every character available right now, their element and role, and exactly how to get each one.

NTE is available on PC, PS5, Android, and iOS. Download it from the official NTE website, Google Play, or the PlayStation Store.

How the Gacha System Works In NTE

Before diving into each character, it helps to understand how you get them. NTE replaces the usual pull screen with a board game called the Scarborough Fair Board. You roll dice, move around the board, and land on spaces that reward characters, Arcs, and other items.

There are two types of boards. The Standard Board is always available and lets you pull the permanent roster of S-rank and A-rank characters using Fabricated Dice. The Limited Board features a specific banner character for a set window of time and uses Solid Dice.

The pity system guarantees an S-rank at 75 to 90 pulls, with no 50/50 coin flip — you always get the featured banner character. Pity and progress also carry over to the next banner, so you never lose your streak. After completing 50 pulls on the Standard Board, you also receive a free one-time S-rank selector to pick any standard S-rank of your choice.

Some board spaces are worth knowing. Ticket spaces give you a named character directly. Landing on the rainbow road space takes you to a fairy that guarantees the limited banner character. Purple and Legendary chest spaces can also drop S-rank characters.

All Free Characters In NTE (No Gacha Needed)

These six characters do not require any pulls. You earn them through story progression, login rewards, or City Tycoon advancement.

How to unlock: Automatically unlocked when you start the game. You choose between a male or female version at character creation. Both share the same abilities and stats. Zero is your main protagonist — an amnesiac Esper who inadvertently defeats an anomaly and gets recruited by the Bureau of Anomaly Control. As a Cosmos-type DPS, Zero is one of the most well-rounded fighters in the roster and works with Solid-type Arcs. Want to change the version you picked? Mint (A-Rank | Anima | DPS)

How to unlock: Free through main story progression. Mint is effectively the mascot of Neverness To Everness and the first character you properly team up with. She is a high-energy cat girl who guides you through combat basics and takes you to Eibon. As a Liquid-type DPS, Mint hits hard and her Ultimate can be significantly upgraded through awakening. Do not underestimate her just because she is A-rank — she is a solid carry early on.

Adler (A-Rank | Incantation | Survival/Support)

How to unlock: Free through main story progression. Adler is the calm, well-dressed butler of the Eibon antique shop. He is the second free story character you unlock and complements Mint and Zero perfectly. With high defense relative to attack, he is built to shield and protect the team. One of his passive skills increases his DEF stat by 20%. He uses Bose-type Arcs and works with Incantation DoT synergies, especially alongside Baicang.

Haniel (A-Rank | Psyche | Buffer)

How to unlock: Free via the pre-registration milestone reward — check your in-game inbox and she should already be there since the 30 million pre-registration goal was completed before launch. She can also be unlocked through story progression and by clearing Floor 10 of the Fracture Circle in Beyond the Rails, meaning you can get multiple copies to unlock awakenings. Haniel is a social media-obsessed delivery worker who buffs the team’s attack through her Skill and Ultimate. She is the A-rank equivalent of Sakiri in terms of support value and uses Solid-type Arcs.

Aurelia (A-Rank | Psyche | DPS)

How to unlock: Free via the login campaign event — specifically the Day 3 login reward. Simply log in on three separate days and she is yours. Aurelia is a Plasma-type character and one of the Plasma Espers who can activate the blue flame bike effect when equipped with the Raging Flames Arc. She is a straightforward DPS who is easy to pick up and works well in Psyche-focused teams. If you want to ride the flaming bike quickly, check our NTE Flaming Bike Guide.

Chiz (S-Rank | Cosmos | DPS)

How to unlock: Free through City Tycoon progression. Your first copy unlocks at City Tycoon Level 18. Additional copies are available at higher Tycoon levels, making it possible for free-to-play players to fully awaken her without spending a single pull. Chiz is one of the strongest free characters in the game. She is a Gas-type Cosmos DPS and fully maxed out Chiz with all awakenings unlocked is genuinely competitive with pulled S-rank characters. Rushing City Tycoon to unlock her early is one of the smartest things new players can do. Check our NTE City Tycoon Guide to level up fast.

All Standard Banner S-Rank Characters In NTE

These six S-rank characters are permanently available on the Standard Scarborough Fair Board. You can pull them at any time using Fabricated Dice, or select one of them for free after completing 50 Standard Banner pulls.

Baicang (S-Rank | Incantation | DPS)

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull or free S-rank selector. Baicang is a martial artist and fellow Captain at the Bureau of Anomaly Control. He is a Bose-type DPS who specialises in dealing damage-over-time through Incantation attacks. He is considered one of the hardest characters to play well due to HP management mechanics, but in skilled hands he can rival the very top-tier characters in boss fights. He works well alongside Adler, who has Incantation synergy.

Daffodil (S-Rank | Chaos | DPS)

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull or free S-rank selector. Daffodil is one of the most visually striking characters in the game, with a strong dual-blade combat style. As a Liquid-type Chaos DPS she has more basic attack options than most other Espers and strong Break damage capabilities that can chip away at enemy shields quickly. She is an excellent early DPS carry for new accounts.

Fadia (S-Rank | Psyche | Survival)

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull or free S-rank selector. Fadia is the third captain character you meet in the story’s opening and the only true healer in the current version of NTE. She uses a massive tombstone weapon and fights with a vampire-like martial arts style. As a Bose-type Survival character she absorbs a portion of the damage her teammates would take — a unique mechanic that makes her extremely valuable in high-difficulty content. With her A2 awakening active, she becomes a proper team healer as well.

Hathor (S-Rank | Lakshana | Buff/DPS)

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull or free S-rank selector. Hathor is a courier for Sterry Express with one of the most eye-catching designs in the roster — angel wings, tattoos, black and white colour contrast, and a gold amulet. She uses Plasma-type Arcs and can activate the flaming bike visual if you own the Raging Flames Arc. In combat she works as an energy battery and AoE damage dealer. She also has a valuable Life Skill that grants extra Cartridges and account resources per day.

Jiuyuan (S-Rank | Anima | Support/DPS)

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull or free S-rank selector. Jiuyuan is a refined, dual-wielding ranged fighter with an elegant old-school look. She is a Solid-type Anima character and one of the strongest supports in the current meta. Her value increases significantly with a second copy — the A2 awakening adds full-party healing, turning her into a hybrid sub-DPS and support. She pairs exceptionally well with Nanally and is widely considered the best support in version 1.0.

Sakiri (S-Rank | Incantation | Buff)

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull or free S-rank selector. Sakiri is an Eibon antique shop employee who is paired constantly with Nanally in the story. Her weapon of choice is Kiroumaru — a monstrous companion with a Kirby-esque inhale ability. She is a Gas-type summoner who calls Kiroumaru to fight alongside her, taunt enemies, and control the battlefield. As one of the few pure supports in the game, she offers excellent long-term team-building flexibility.

How to unlock: Standard Banner pull. Edgar is one of Eibon’s residents but tends to be overshadowed by the bigger personalities around him. He is notable for being one of the only Espers in the game with a healing ability — his Ultimate creates a domain that heals the active character for 10 seconds. His Skill damage can be boosted by 50% through a Level 1 awakening. He uses Liquid-type Arcs.

Skia (A-Rank | Lakshana | DPS)

He is a bruiser with high HP and solid attack stats who works well as a Gas-type DPS. He is one of the early characters the game lets you try out during story segments.

Limited Banner Characters In NTE

These characters are only available during specific time-limited banners. Once their window closes, you will need to wait for a rerun in a future patch.

Nanally (S-Rank | Anima | DPS) — Limited Banner

nte neverness to everness nanally profile page
nte neverness to everness nanally profile page

Banner window: April 29, 2026 – May 13, 2026. How to unlock: Pull from the limited Scarborough Fair Board called The Ichi-daime using Solid Dice. Nanally is the first limited character in NTE and by far the strongest DPS at launch. She is a Plasma-type cat girl who fires lightning attacks from her fingers. As a limited character with no 50/50 system, you are guaranteed to get her within 90 pulls. She pairs best with Jiuyuan as her support.

Hotori (S-Rank | Cosmos | DPS) — Limited Banner

Banner window: May 13, 2026 – June 3, 2026. How to unlock: Pull from the limited Scarborough Fair Board called Misty Tipsy Style using Solid Dice. Hotori is the second limited character in NTE and works as a Solid-type Cosmos DPS. She appeared in early beta tests and is expected to have time-related abilities. Pity carries over from Nanally’s banner, so any progress you built up rolls into Hotori’s banner seamlessly.

Lacrimosa (S-Rank | Chaos | DPS) — Upcoming Limited Banner

Banner window: June 3, 2026 onwards. How to unlock: Upcoming Limited Banner. Lacrimosa is one of the most unique characters in NTE — she can transform into a trash-can dog and spit flaming garbage at enemies, summon bats, and shift between a demon form. She focuses on sustained damage-over-time combined with AoE burst potential and strong survivability. Her kit makes her excellent against high-HP enemies, though less effective against weaker targets.

Tips For Building Your Roster In NTE

  • Get all free characters first — Zero, Mint, Adler, Haniel, Aurelia, and Chiz give you a solid foundation. Do not spend pulls trying to get characters you can earn for free.
  • Rush City Tycoon to Level 18 — Chiz is one of the best DPS characters in the game and is entirely free. Getting her early makes a huge difference. See our Hethereau Hobbies Guide to earn Fons faster.
  • Wait before using your S-rank selector — The selector does not expire. Wait until you have done some Standard Banner pulls to see what you get naturally. Do not accidentally select a character you then pull as a dupe.
  • Prioritize a strong DPS first — Supports have longer-term value, but a strong DPS carries your account through early content faster. Nanally or Daffodil are the safest early picks.
  • Pity carries over between Limited Banners — Never lose sleep about a banner ending before you hit pity. Your progress rolls straight into the next one.
  • Collect free redeem codes — These give you Annulith and Dice to pull more characters. Check our NTE Redeem Codes page regularly.

Final Thoughts

NTE has one of the most generous free character rosters of any gacha game at launch. Six characters require zero pulls, and the Standard Banner selector hands you a seventh S-rank for free after just 50 pulls. If you are new to the game, focus on unlocking all the free characters first, push City Tycoon to get Chiz, and then decide which Limited Banner characters match your playstyle before spending your Solid Dice.
