How to Beat All Bosses in Saros – Complete Overlord Guide

TL;DR

  • There are 9 boss encounters in Saros — Consort (tutorial) and 8 main Overlords.
  • Each Overlord appears at the end of a biome and has multiple health bars.
  • Blue projectiles charge your Power Weapon. Yellow ones need dodging. Red Nova ones must be parried or avoided entirely.
  • Use Overdrive and Power Weapons as soon as fights start to make the most of opening damage windows.
  • Clearing earlier biomes before facing a boss raises your Proficiency and makes every fight easier.
  • You need to defeat all bosses to unlock the true ending.

Every biome in Saros ends with a boss. These are called Overlords, and each one has a distinct set of mechanics, multiple health bars, and attack patterns that can shut you down if you go in without a plan. This guide covers every single boss in the game, how each fight works, and what to do in every phase.

Before you dive into boss fights, it helps to have the right tools. Check out our complete guide to all Main and Power Weapons in Saros to make sure you are carrying something worth using.

How Many Bosses Are in Saros?

There are 9 boss encounters in total. The Consort appears during the tutorial and does not count as a biome boss. The remaining 8 Overlords each sit at the end of a main biome. In order, they are: Prophet, Bastion, Rhabdom, Legion, Architect, Shepherd, Priestess, and King.

Eight of the nine bosses have trophies tied to defeating them. The final boss, King, is linked to three separate trophies. None of the Overlords are optional — you must defeat all of them to finish the story.

Bosses in Saros follow a consistent logic once you understand it. Blue projectiles can be absorbed with your Soltari Shield to charge your Power Weapon. Yellow corrupted attacks need clean movement and spacing. Red Nova projectiles cannot be absorbed — you must parry or avoid them entirely. Learning this system early makes every single fight more manageable.

General Tips Before Every Boss Fight

  • Run earlier biomes first. Going through previous biomes before a boss fight raises your Proficiency well beyond what a single biome can provide. Higher Proficiency means better weapons and more traits. This alone can make a boss fight feel completely different.
  • Reroll containers outside boss rooms. If your weapon feels weak, reroll before entering. Traits like Explosive Rounds or Weakpoint Feeder can carry a mid-tier weapon into a boss fight. See our weapon guide for what to look for.
  • Use Overdrive at the start of every fight. Most bosses give you a short window after spawning before their first attack. Pop Overdrive and chain Power Moves to deal free damage.
  • Never stand still. Saros boss arenas reward movement. Keep circling, keep dodging, and keep absorbing blue projectiles whenever they appear.
  • Know your arena tools. Jump pads, pillars, and platforms exist in most arenas for a reason. Use them to avoid wide sweeping attacks and Nova walls.

How to Beat Consort (Tutorial Boss)

Consort Saros
Consort Saros

Consort is the first Overlord you encounter in Saros, appearing during the tutorial before you even reach the main biomes. This fight is designed to teach the basics of combat, not to punish you.

The key attack to watch for is the homing light beam. Unlike most attacks in the game, you cannot absorb it with your shield. You must dodge it. Outside of that, Consort telegraphs its attacks clearly and follows predictable patterns. Aim for its torso to deal consistent damage. If Consort summons additional enemies during the fight, use the Dispiritor to manage them while keeping pressure on the boss itself.

For more on what happens after this fight, our guide on what happens if you beat Consort in Saros explains what to expect.

How to Beat Prophet (Shattered Rise – Biome 1)

Prophet is the first real Overlord fight and sets the template for how Saros boss encounters work. It has 3 health bars and a mechanic that forces you to earn the right to deal damage before you can shoot the boss directly.

Phase 1 and Phase 2

Prophet’s weakspot stays sealed until you destroy all the yellow glowing buds positioned around the arena. Focus on the buds first. Do not worry about hitting the boss during this part — you cannot damage it yet. Once the buds are gone, the large central weakspot opens. That is when you unload.

While the weakspot is open, Prophet fires barrages of blue projectiles. Absorb them with your shield to build up your Power Weapon charge, then use the Power Weapon on the exposed weakspot. Dodge the corrupted yellow waves by moving sideways — do not try to absorb them.

During the second health bar, Prophet can spawn large bulbs around the arena that fire projectiles. Destroy them if they are cluttering your movement space. Some of them drop Aether, so it is worth clearing them when you can.

Phase 3

The arena narrows in Phase 3. Vine walls appear on both sides and your movement space shrinks significantly. The attack pattern stays the same — destroy buds, expose the weakspot, absorb blue, dodge yellow — but the tighter arena makes spacing more important. Keep moving and do not let the pattern rush you.

Use Prominence as your Power Weapon here if you have it. Once the shield is drained, a direct Prominence shot deals heavy damage and keeps momentum going. For a deeper breakdown, see our dedicated guide on how to beat Prophet in Shattered Rise.

How to Beat Bastion (Ancient Depths – Biome 2)

Bastion is a stationary machine boss with its head exposed as the main target. The arena has several Jump Network Pads, and you will need them. This is a tankier boss than Prophet, so bring high Proficiency weapons and plan for a longer fight.

Bastion saros
Bastion saros

All Phases

The core loop is straightforward. Bastion fires blue and yellow projectiles throughout the fight. Absorb blue ones with your shield, dash to avoid yellow ones. The expanding yellow ring attack is the key move to watch for — when you see it coming, use the jump pads to gain height and clear it. Do not try to dodge it at ground level.

After each health bar depletes, Bastion retracts its head and spawns stationary bots around the arena. You need to kill all of them before the boss returns. Some of these bots may drop Aether, so clear them thoroughly.

From the second health bar onward, Bastion introduces red Nova projectiles. These cannot be dashed through. When a full wall of red Nova projectiles fills the arena, the jump pads are your only reliable escape route. Get to higher ground immediately when you see a full Nova wall forming.

The Annihilator Shotgun’s grenade alt-fire works extremely well here for phase transitions. Shotguns in general are strong against Bastion because the boss is a large stationary target with a clear head to aim at. For more on how to use the jump pads effectively, see our guide on how to unlock Jump Network Pads in Saros.

How to Beat Rhabdom (Shattered Descent – Biome 3)

Rhabdom is the easiest Overlord in the game by a wide margin. It has only one health bar and feels more like a buffed Alpha enemy than a full boss encounter.

Rhabdom Saros
Rhabdom Saros

Phase 1

When the fight starts, Rhabdom takes a few seconds before performing its first attack. This is a free damage window. Use Overdrive immediately and chain Power Moves during this opening. You can push Rhabdom down to around 50% health before it even begins moving if you act fast.

Once active, Rhabdom jumps toward you and launches red projectiles in all directions. Stay at range to make the pattern easier to read. Use the grapple ability to reposition around the arena and aim for higher ground so you can fire down on it. There are also jump pads on either side that help you avoid the wider projectile barrages.

On repeat runs with a few Armor Matrix upgrades installed, Rhabdom can be one-shotted with Overdrive. It is a reliable source of Lucenite for meta-progression farming.

How to Beat Legion (Blighted Marsh – Biome 4)

Legion is a flying horde boss — a mass of enemies moving together as one unit. The fight looks chaotic at first glance, but the mechanic is simple once you spot it. Only the central bright red enemy takes damage. Hitting anything else does nothing meaningful.

Legion Saros
Legion Saros

All Phases

Legion has 3 health bars. It uses a lot of red Nova projectile attacks throughout the fight. By Biome 4 you will have unlocked the parry ability, and this is the fight where it becomes essential. Parry red projectiles back at Legion’s central enemy for efficient damage whenever your Power Weapon is on cooldown.

Crossbows are the recommended weapon class for this fight. Their tracking alt-fire handles both the outer swarm and Legion’s central weakpoint far better than slower options. The homing projectiles cut through the noise and find the target reliably even when the horde is shifting position.

Keep moving and keep your eyes on the central red enemy. Do not let the surrounding horde distract your targeting. Learn what direction Legion is moving and adjust your angle of fire to lead the central target slightly.

How to Beat Architect (Desecrated Fortress – Biome 5)

Architect is an aerial boss that attacks from a distance. It stays in the air and punishes players who stand still. This is a fight where Power Weapon timing matters more than raw damage output.

Architect Saros
Architect Saros

Phase 1

Architect opens with a long red beam attack fired across the arena. Move laterally to avoid it — do not try to jump it, as the beam tracks horizontally. Throughout Phase 1, absorb every blue projectile you can to keep your Power Weapon charged. Power Weapon windows are how you deal significant damage to Architect.

Phase 2

Phase 2 introduces blue projectiles falling from above in a cone pattern. They land in sequence from the center outward, so watch the timing and move to the sides as they fall. Absorb what you can on the way out.

The hardest new attack is the square-shaped projectile tunnels. Architect fires them in sets of three, followed immediately by blue shots. Moving sideways is often not enough due to the limited arena space. The better play is to jump through the opening in the tunnel and then immediately raise your shield midair to absorb the follow-up blue projectiles. If you feel overwhelmed, you can jump off the platform on purpose and use your grapple to return — it resets your position safely. For more on this mechanic, see our guide to unlocking the Grapple in Saros.

How to Beat Shepherd (Acolyte’s Haven – Biome 6)

Shepherd is a tentacle boss. The core mechanic involves exposing a vulnerable head and then cycling through projectile responses while dealing damage in the window that opens.

Shepherd Saros
Shepherd Saros

Phase 1

Focus on exposing Shepherd’s head first. Once the head is exposed, Shepherd cycles through blue, yellow, and red projectile waves. Absorb blue, absorb yellow with your shield, and parry red projectiles back at the boss. This cycle keeps your Power Weapon charged almost constantly, which makes Phase 1 one of the more manageable boss phases in the game if you stay disciplined with your responses.

Watch for sweeping attacks — jump over them cleanly rather than trying to dash through. Blue orbs also appear during Phase 1. Collect them to build your alt-fire charge.

Phase 2

Phase 2 adds two large tentacles on either side of the arena. These reach you faster than any of Shepherd’s projectiles, so they are your first priority. Focus on avoiding the tentacles before reacting to anything else. Shepherd’s projectile attacks move more slowly and give you time to respond after the tentacles are handled.

Shepherd can also open its center and fire a spiral attack during Phase 2. Move side to side and either jump over it or stay low depending on the spiral’s direction. Watch the arena repositioning — Shepherd can shift to different sides and reduce your movement space. Reposition early when this happens rather than waiting until you run out of room.

Parrying red projectiles back at Shepherd during Phase 2 remains the most efficient damage source when your Power Weapon is on cooldown. Keep the habit going from Phase 1.

How to Beat Priestess (Cathedral – Biome 7)

Priestess is one of the most mechanically complex fights in Saros. Raw damage matters less here than understanding the phase triggers. Shooting at the wrong thing at the wrong time does nothing. Patience and attention to the arena are what win this fight.

Priestess Saros
Priestess Saros

Phase 1

The fight begins with three smaller Priestesses. You cannot damage the main boss until you destroy two of the three. Once two are down, the main Priestess becomes vulnerable. Halfway through the first health bar, the three smaller Priestesses return — destroy two again to continue dealing damage.

Blue and yellow projectile waves are generous in Phase 1. Use them to charge your Power Weapon and save it for the windows when the main boss is exposed. Projectiles also fire in diamond clusters and scattered yellow spreads during this phase — keep moving and absorb where you can.

Phase 2

Phase 2 changes the rule. The arena transforms and the Priestesses grow larger. Do not shoot them this time. Instead, look for the special tuning fork structures placed on smaller platforms around the arena. Find and hit all three with your melee attack. Doing this clears nearby projectiles, briefly stuns the Priestesses, and after all three are activated, the boss reforms into a single target. A clear weakspot then appears on its chest — focus all your fire there.

During Phase 2 the Priestess can trap you inside a circular wall of closing projectiles. If they are blue, use your shield and absorb them — it is actually a good opportunity to recharge. If they are another colour, jump over them with correct timing. The fight rewards observation over aggression. Stay calm, read the arena, and save your Power Weapon for the boss’s single-target form.

How to Beat King (Yellow Shore – Biome 8)

King is the final boss and is linked to three separate trophies. Despite being the last Overlord, many players find him more manageable than expected — his constant projectile spam actually keeps your Power Weapon fuelled throughout the fight.

King SAros
King SAros

Phase 1

King uses a mix of projectile attacks in Phase 1 that are readable once you understand their behaviour. Shield and absorb what you can, dodge what you cannot. A yellow shield appears on King at set intervals — break it before you can deal damage through it. Phase 1 is about pattern recognition. Spend this phase learning what King does rather than trying to brute-force damage.

Phase 2

Phase 2 brings back all the Phase 1 attacks but in more aggressive forms. Some projectiles become red Nova attacks that cannot be absorbed — switch from shielding to dodging for those. Two-stage attacks that were manageable in Phase 1 become more dangerous here with red Nova additions. The timing requirements tighten. Larger explosive attacks appear, including dome bursts and ground waves — staying mobile is the answer to almost all of them.

Phase 3

Phase 3 makes King highly mobile. He teleports around the arena and fires from multiple angles, including from behind you. Move your camera frequently and always stay aware of where he reappears. He introduces a melee dash in this phase — he tilts backward slightly before lunging. Dodge sideways rather than backward when you see the tell. Never hold a fixed position in Phase 3. King’s teleports are designed to catch players who stop moving.

Illumine or Prominence are strong Power Weapon choices for King. Their versatility covers all three phases without needing to switch strategy between them. For a full breakdown of the ending that follows, see our guide on how to unlock the true ending in Saros.

Tips for Repeat Boss Runs

In Saros, defeating a boss does not remove it from the game. You will fight the same Overlords again on subsequent runs. This is intentional. Replaying earlier bosses builds Proficiency, farms Lucenite, and gives you more Artifact slots before facing the current wall boss.

If you are stuck on any Overlord, try starting your cycle from Biome 1 and clearing multiple biomes in sequence before fighting the boss you are struggling with. By the time you arrive, your Proficiency will be significantly higher, your weapon pool will be deeper, and your Artifact stack will be fuller. The trade-off is inventory space — be selective about which Artifacts you pick up to avoid filling your slots too early.

The Nightmare Strand also opens up additional challenge layers once you have cleared the main boss sequence. It is worth understanding before you commit to it.
