007 First Light Attention to Detail Challenge: Open Safe and Archive Door Code Guide

The 007 First Light Attention to Detail Challenge requires finding the Safe Key in the Legal Department, opening the office safe, and using code 1864 at the Archives door. Full guide here.

The 007 First Light Attention to Detail Challenge is one of three hidden challenge routes into the Security Office during the Wave of the Future mission. To earn it, Bond must find the Safe Key hidden in the Legal Department, use it to open an office safe on the lower floor, and read the Archives door code inside. The code — 1864 — then unlocks a hidden vent route straight to the Security Office. This guide walks through every step.

TL;DR

  • Attention to Detail is a challenge in the Wave of the Future mission tied to opening a hidden office safe
  • Go to the Legal Department downstairs — eavesdrop, hack the photocopier to shift the guard, enter and find the Safe Key in the cubicle
  • Head west to the separate Office room, distract two NPCs using a Phone Dart and the photocopier
  • Open the safe under the desk using the Safe Key — the Attention to Detail challenge unlocks
  • Inside the safe is the Archives door code: 1864
  • Enter 1864 at the Archives door keypad to access the vent route into the Security Office
  • Upgrade the ID Bracelet inside the Security Office to complete the main objective

What Is the Attention to Detail Challenge?

The Attention to Detail challenge is one of the optional routes for accessing the Security Office during the Wave of the Future mission at Webb Industries. The main objective at this point is to upgrade Bond’s ID Bracelet so he can reach the Command Centre — but the Security Office is locked, and there are three different challenge-linked methods to get inside.

Attention to Detail requires Bond to locate a Safe Key, use it on a hidden floor safe in an office below, and read the Archives door code from inside. It rewards thorough exploration of the lower-floor offices rather than brute-forcing the locks or surrendering to a guard.

The other two Security Office challenge routes are the Surrender challenge — where Bond identifies himself as David Somerset to a Webb guard — and the Snoop Around challenge, which involves solving a math puzzle in the Locker Room. All three lead to the same Archives code and the same upgrade station. The difference is the path and the challenge each one unlocks.

This is one of 24 challenges in Wave of the Future. For a complete overview of the mission, see the Wave of the Future all challenges guide.

Prerequisites — When Does This Become Available?

The Attention to Detail challenge becomes accessible once your objective reads “Upgrade the ID Bracelet in the Security Office.” This happens after Bond and Isola part ways inside the Webb Industries facility. At that point you are left alone in the Operations area and need to find a way to the Security Office. Head downstairs to begin.

Step 1 — Go to the Legal Department and Get the Safe Key

Take the stairs on the left down to the lower floor. Head left and you will find the Legal Department office. It is guarded. Do not enter yet.

Eavesdrop on the Conversation

Before approaching the door, eavesdrop on the nearby conversation. This triggers the Security Memo sub-objective and causes one of the NPCs inside the Legal Department to leave, thinning out the room slightly.

Hack the Photocopier

With one NPC gone, use your Q-Watch to hack the photocopier inside the Legal Department. This creates a noise distraction that shifts the guard’s position and gives you a window to enter and move through the room cleanly without triggering an alert.

Find the Safe Key in the Cubicle

While the guard is distracted, sneak inside and move to the right. Enter the office cubicle on the right side of the room. The Safe Key is in here. Pick it up. This key is what opens the safe on the lower floor and directly enables the Attention to Detail challenge.

Once you have the Safe Key, you no longer need to stay in the Legal Department. Leave via stealth or let yourself be caught — either works since you have what you came for.

Step 2 — Find the Office and Distract Both NPCs

With the Safe Key in hand, head west from the Legal Department, past the security guard in the corridor. On the left you will find a separate room — the Office. There are two NPCs inside having a conversation. You need both of them distracted before you can reach the safe.

Use the Phone Dart on the Male NPC

The male NPC needs to leave the room first. Use your Phone Dart gadget on him. This disorients him and causes him to walk away from the area, clearing one of the two obstacles in the room.

Use the Photocopier on the Female NPC

Once the man has left, press the photocopier in the room to activate it. The noise distracts the female NPC and causes her to turn away. With both NPCs now occupied and facing away, the safe under the desk is accessible.

Step 3 — Open the Safe and Unlock the Challenge

With the room clear, move to the desk and find the safe underneath it. Interact with it and use the Safe Key you collected from the Legal Department cubicle to open it.

Inside the safe is the Archives door passcode. Read it. The moment the safe opens, the Attention to Detail challenge completes. You do not need to do anything else to earn the challenge — opening the safe with the correct key is the trigger.

The code inside the safe is 1864.

Step 4 — Use Code 1864 at the Archives Door

Now that you have the code, head to the Archives door near the Security Office route in the Operations area. Enter 1864 at the keypad and confirm the input. The door unlocks.

On the other side of the Archives door is a ventilation shaft. Crawl through it. The vent leads directly into the Security Office from below, bypassing all the guards between Bond and the upgrade station. This is one of the cleanest stealth approaches in the entire mission.

Step 5 — Upgrade the ID Bracelet

Once inside the Security Office via the vent, find the upgrade station and interact with it. This upgrades Bond’s ID Bracelet clearance level and completes the bracelet objective. With the upgraded bracelet, the Command Centre door will now open when you return to it.

Before you leave the Security Office, check the desk for the M Profile Intel collectible. It is right there on the surface. Pick it up before exiting — it is easy to miss if you head straight back to the main objective.

What Is the Archive Door Code and Where Does It Come From?

The Archives door code is 1864. It is fixed and does not change between playthroughs or difficulty settings. Every player gets the same code.

The code appears inside the safe in the lower-floor Office. This is the intended in-game discovery route — the one that unlocks the Attention to Detail challenge. The same code can also be obtained through the Snoop Around route by solving the math puzzle in the Locker Room, but that triggers a different challenge. Both methods lead to the same door and the same vent.

If you already know the code from a previous run, you can enter 1864 at the Archives keypad without opening the safe. However, the Attention to Detail challenge will not unlock unless you specifically open the safe with the Safe Key. Entering the code directly skips the challenge trigger entirely.

Tips for the Attention to Detail Challenge

  • Get the Safe Key before going to the Office. The safe cannot be opened without it. The key is in the Legal Department cubicle — do that step first before heading west to the Office.
  • Use the Phone Dart on the male NPC. This is the cleanest way to remove him from the room. If you do not have the Phone Dart in your current loadout, you can use another distraction method — but the Phone Dart is the most reliable option here. Check the best gadget loadout guide to make sure you have it equipped going in.
  • Do not open the safe without the Safe Key. The safe requires the specific key from the Legal Department cubicle. You cannot force it open without it.
  • Opening the safe is the challenge trigger. You do not need to read the code or enter it at the door for the challenge to complete. The challenge unlocks the moment you open the safe with the key.
  • Pick up the M Profile Intel in the Security Office. Once you crawl through the vent and reach the upgrade station, there is an Intel collectible on the desk nearby. It is easy to miss.
  • Replay if you missed it. If you entered the Archives code directly without opening the safe, use the mission replay feature to return to the checkpoint and redo the safe route properly.

Can You Get All Three Security Office Challenges in One Run?

No. Each of the three Security Office challenge methods — Attention to Detail, Surrender, and Snoop Around — uses a different entry route. You can only enter the Security Office once per run of this section, which means each challenge requires a separate playthrough of the relevant checkpoint. Plan to replay this section at least twice to collect all three.

The good news is that the Safe Key step and the Legal Department eavesdrop are shared prep work across some of these routes. The Attention to Detail challenge is cleanly isolated to the safe + Archives vent path, so it will not interfere with the others as long as you approach each on a separate run.
