What Is Wave of the Future in 007 First Light?

Wave of the Future is Mission 16 in 007 First Light — the second-to-last chapter of the campaign. Bond infiltrates Webb Industries’ cutting-edge facility, working through a Robotics Department full of androids and experimental machines before moving into a heavily guarded Operations area to upgrade his ID bracelet and reach the Command Centre.

The mission has 24 challenges in total. That puts it among the highest challenge counts in the entire game, alongside Uninvited and Time to Die. Some challenges conflict with each other — you cannot do a full pacifist run and a full combat run in the same playthrough — so expect to replay at least some sections. You can use the mission replay feature to jump back to any checkpoint at any time.

Section 1 — Robotics Department Challenges

The first part of Wave of the Future sends Bond into the Robotics Department. This is where most of the android-related challenges are found.

Terminated

This challenge requires you to kill the very first android you encounter after taking the elevator down. The easy way is environmental. Look to the left of the room when you enter and find the server rack. Activate it to lower it, then lure the android to stand underneath. Once the android is in position, activate the server again to crush it instantly. The android goes down without a fight and the challenge completes.

Wrecking Baller

Wreckie is a large rolling robot found in the second android area (after the fan section). For Wrecking Baller, you need Wreckie to destroy a set number of androids in one run. To maximise the count, destroy two generators in the area to spawn additional androids. Once you have enough androids active, line them up and send Wreckie rolling through them. You need to hit 15 androids in a single sweep for this challenge to complete. Take your time getting them into a clean line before you trigger the roll.

Perfect Strike

Perfect Strike works alongside Wrecking Baller in the same android area. The requirement is landing a clean strike on a specific number of androids with Wreckie without any misses or broken chains. Like Wrecking Baller, patience is the key. Set up your androids carefully in a straight line before committing to the roll. Both Wrecking Baller and Perfect Strike can be earned in the same attempt if your setup is clean.

First Day at Work

This challenge rewards Bond for using both methods of entering the Utility room in the Robotics area. You need to do both in a single playthrough — not just one of them.

Method 1 — Mimic Robot: In the front right area near the Utility room, there is a woman performing yoga on a platform with a robot mimicking her movements. Hack the nearby laptop with your Q-Watch, which causes the tester to leave. Then approach the second terminal and turn up the heat controls. This drives the yoga subject off the platform. Step onto the platform yourself, walk to the edge until the robot faces the glass, and punch. The robot punches through the glass wall, opening a route inside.

Method 2 — Toxic Barrel: In the left testing area of Robotics, find the android holding a barrel of toxic waste. Activate the terminal in the test square and pick up the gun. Instead of shooting the android, use your Q-Lens to hack the panel behind him. This reveals a second android carrying a barrel. Shoot the barrel. Robotic vacuum cleaners will emerge from the left door of the Utility room. Follow them inside.

Complete both interactions in one run and First Day at Work unlocks.

Section 2 — The Gantries Challenges

The Gantries section sits between Robotics and Operations. It is a guarded industrial stretch that rewards stealth and careful movement.

Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek is earned by passing through the Gantries section without being detected by any guard. Stay low, use cover, and time your movements around patrol routes. The guards have scripted paths, so observe before moving. This is achievable on a patient first pass if you do not rush.

Pacifist Protocols

Pacifist Protocols is a two-part challenge that requires Bond to pass through the Gantries without firing a single shot, and then repeat the same restriction in the later Utility room encounter. Both sections must be completed gun-free in the same playthrough. Combine this with Hide and Seek where possible by staying entirely undetected — stealth gets you through both encounters without needing to fire anything.

Scenic Route

Scenic Route is earned by taking a specific off-path route through one of the Gantries sections rather than going straight through the main corridor. Look for alternative climbing paths, vents, or side ledges that branch away from the obvious route. Taking the longer, more hidden path triggers this challenge.

Section 3 — Operations Department Challenges

The final stretch of Wave of the Future takes Bond through Webb Industries’ Operations Department. The main objective here is to upgrade Bond’s ID bracelet in the Security Office, then use the upgraded clearance to access the Command Centre. There are several challenges tied to how you get into the Security Office.

Surrender

Surrender is a secret method of entering the Security Office. When the objective to upgrade your ID bracelet activates, instead of sneaking in, seek out a Webb Security guard and use the dialogue option to identify yourself as David Somerset. The guard will escort Bond directly to the Security Office. This is one of the easiest ways to reach the upgrade terminal, but once inside you will need to deal with three hostiles before you can interact with the upgrade station. Stay ready for a fight the moment you walk in.

Attention to Detail

This challenge is tied to finding a specific safe inside the Operations Department that contains the Archives door code. Head downstairs to find the Legal Department. Eavesdrop on the conversation there to make one of the NPCs leave, then use your Q-Watch to hack the photocopier inside. This lets you move through to a cubicle with two NPCs. Wait for them to finish talking, then hack the nearby charging station. Follow the steps through to locate the safe and open it. Opening the safe unlocks the Attention to Detail challenge and gives you the Archives code (1864) needed to reach the Command Centre through the vent route.

Snoop Around

Snoop Around is earned by using a vent to enter the Security Office rather than going through the front entrance or surrendering. From the upstairs hallway near the locked Security Room, head downstairs to the left. You will find a ventilation shaft. Crawl through it to emerge inside the Security Office from below. Once inside, interact with the upgrade station to complete the bracelet objective. Snoop Around unlocks automatically when you reach the Security Office via this hidden vent path.

How to Upgrade the ID Bracelet

Whichever method you use to enter — Surrender, the vent, or the Archives code route — the process inside is the same. Find the upgrade station inside the Security Office and interact with it. This upgrades Bond’s ID bracelet clearance level and unlocks the Command Centre door. The M Profile Intel collectible is also on the desk inside the Security Office, so pick it up before leaving.

For a detailed walkthrough of the bracelet upgrade specifically, the archives code route is the most thorough — use code 1864 at the Archives door (found through the Attention to Detail safe) and proceed through the vent into the Command Centre area.

The Pacifist, Ghost, and Combat Bundle Challenges

Like other major missions in 007 First Light, Wave of the Future has bundle challenges that require a full playstyle commitment across the whole chapter. These include a Pacifist run (no kills throughout), a Ghost run (no detections), and a full Combat/Assault run. Because these conflict directly with each other, plan to do at least two separate playthroughs of the mission — one for stealth and one for combat. Use checkpoints to isolate sections and avoid replaying the whole mission from scratch each time.

Tips for Completing All 24 Challenges

  • Do stealth and combat in separate runs. Pacifist and Ghost challenges directly conflict with Terminated, Wrecking Baller, and combat-based objectives. Split them across two playthroughs using checkpoint select.
  • Set up Wreckie carefully. The Wrecking Baller and Perfect Strike challenges require patience. Destroy both generators to spawn enough androids, line them up precisely, then send Wreckie through. Rushing the setup leads to a broken chain and a failed challenge.
  • Use both Utility room methods. First Day at Work requires both the mimic robot AND the toxic barrel method in one run. Do not skip either one — both need to be triggered before you leave Robotics.
  • Note the Archives code. The code 1864 for the Archives door comes from the safe in the Legal Department area. Get it during the Attention to Detail challenge run so you do not have to backtrack.
  • Pick up the M Profile Intel. It is on the desk inside the Security Office. It is easy to miss if you rush straight to the upgrade station and leave.
  • Check your gadget loadout before starting. The Q-Watch hacks are essential throughout this mission — for the yoga robot, the mimic sequence, and getting around guards in Operations. Make sure you have the right gadgets equipped. See the best gadget loadout guide for recommendations.

Reward for Completing All Challenges

Completing all 24 challenges in Wave of the Future unlocks the exclusive Wave of the Future outfit for use in TacSim. This is the only way to get it. Full challenge completion also contributes to the overall completionist rating tracked in the main menu.
