007 First Light First Day At Work Challenge: How to Get Into Utility

007 First Light First Day At Work Challenge is one of the trickier tasks in the Wave of the Future mission. The Utility room door is locked. You do not have the clearance to walk straight through. The game does not tell you how to get in. Many players get stuck here for a long time. This guide breaks down both methods step by step so you can unlock the challenge and move on.

What Is the First Day At Work Challenge
The First Day At Work Challenge is tied to the Robotics Department section of Wave of the Future. The mission takes place at Webb Industries’ robotics facility. Your objective is to get into the Utility area, but the main door requires a higher clearance level than Bond currently has.
To complete this challenge, you must use both of the robotics-based entry methods in the same playthrough. Doing only one is not enough. Both need to be triggered before you leave the Robotics Department. Once you do both, the challenge unlocks automatically.
Where Is the Utility Room
When you enter the Robotics Department, the Utility room is straight ahead. The door is clearly marked but locked. The area around it has five research test stations. Two of those stations are the ones you need for this challenge. One is on the front right side of the room near the yoga platform. The other is on the left side near a toxic waste test arena.
How to Get Into Utility: Method 1 — Mimic Robot (Yoga Platform)
This is the more involved method. Do this one first before moving to the second.
Step 1 — Locate the Yoga Platform
In the front right area of the Robotics Department, near the Utility room entrance, you will see a woman performing yoga on a raised platform. There is a robot on the opposite side near the glass wall that is mimicking her every movement. A scientist is working at a laptop near the platform.
Step 2 — Remove the Scientist
You need the scientist to leave before you can use the platform. Hack the nearby laptop using your Q-Watch. This causes the tester to walk away from the area. Alternatively, you can use a Phone Dart to distract or sicken the scientist, which also clears them out.
Step 3 — Clear the Yoga Subject
With the scientist gone, approach the second terminal and interact with it to activate the temperature controls. Turning up the heat on the platform causes the yoga subject to feel too hot and step off. Now the platform is yours.
Step 4 — Get on the Platform and Punch
Step onto the yoga platform. Walk forward slowly toward the glass wall of the Utility sector. The mimic robot on the other side will copy your movements and walk toward the glass at the same time. Once you are far enough forward that the robot is facing the glass directly, press the punch button. The robot mirrors your punch and shatters the glass wall completely. You can now enter through the broken glass.
Move off the platform quickly after the glass breaks. If the staff notice the damage, they may become suspicious. Exit cleanly and stay composed.
How to Get Into Utility: Method 2 — Toxic Barrel (Cleaning Robots)
This is the easier of the two methods. It opens the actual Utility door rather than the glass wall. Do this second after the mimic robot method.
Step 1 — Find the Toxic Barrel Test Area
Head to the left rear side of the Robotics Department. You will find a test arena where an android is carrying a barrel of toxic waste. There is a shooting range station nearby that allows you to test robotic armor durability.
Step 2 — Activate the Terminal and Use the Q-Lens
Activate the terminal in the test square and pick up the gun provided. Do not shoot the android directly. Instead, use your Q-Lens to hack the panel located behind the android. This opens a wall on the side and reveals a second android that is also carrying a barrel of toxic waste.
Step 3 — Shoot the Barrel
Shoot the toxic barrel that the second android is holding. This triggers an automated clean-up response from the facility. Robotic vacuum cleaners will emerge from the left door of the Utility room as part of the clean-up protocol.
Step 4 — Follow the Vacuum Cleaners Inside
As the vacuum cleaners roll out through the Utility room door, the door stays open long enough for you to follow them inside. Walk in right behind them. You are now inside the Utility room through the second method.
First Day At Work Challenge — Completion Checklist
- Both methods must be used in the same playthrough of Wave of the Future.
- Do the mimic robot (yoga platform) method first.
- Do the toxic barrel (vacuum cleaner) method second.
- Do not leave the Robotics Department before completing both.
- Once both are done, the challenge registers automatically — no extra steps needed.
Tips to Avoid Failing the Challenge
The most common mistake is completing only one method and then progressing too far into the mission. Once you leave Robotics and the checkpoint moves forward, you cannot go back to trigger the second method without replaying the mission entirely.

Also, after entering Utility via the glass route, there is a corridor just inside where you need to push a trolley and turn off a fusebox to open the next door. Do not skip this step — it is required to keep progressing through the area.
What to Do After Getting Into Utility
Once you are inside Utility, the next objective is to reach THEIA and eventually locate the Command Centre. If you want to access the Command Centre Archives door, the code is 1864. You can get this code from the safe in the Legal Department area — it is part of the Attention to Detail Challenge, so try to grab it during the same run.
There is also elevator access past the Utility room. To use the elevator, shoot the electrical panel on the left side with your R1 E.S.P. gadget.
If you are working on collecting everything, there is a collectible card called 9 of Bells located in the Robotics Department just to the right of the Utility door entrance. It sits on top of a box and is easy to miss if you rush through.
