007 First Light: How to Beat Murto is one of the trickiest encounters in the game. Bond enters the fight with no gun and fists that do nothing useful. You have to use the environment to win. Here is everything you need to know.
- Murto cannot be damaged with punches or direct attacks
- He has 3 health bars — each one requires a separate environmental trap
- He can kill you in just two shots, so stay in cover
- Use your Q-Watch to hack traps, lure him with radios and sensors
- Watch out for motion sensor laser grids on the floor — they will give away your position
- After the fight, grab the Restoration Room Keycard for a hidden memento
Where Does the Murto Boss Fight Take Place?
The Murto boss fight happens during Mission 6: Uninvited in 007 First Light. It takes place inside the basement storage area of the museum. Bond has traced Murto through the Webb Gala at the W&A Museum, accessed the CCTV room to confirm his location, then headed down to corner him. This is your second encounter with Murto in the game, and this time he means business.
Bond enters the room completely unarmed. No firearm, no melee that works. The fight is more of a stealth puzzle than a traditional boss fight. The room is full of environmental hazards. Your job is to guide Murto into them one by one.

What You Need to Know Before the Fight Starts
Before we get into the traps, here are a few key rules of this encounter:
- You cannot damage Murto with fists. Don’t even try. It wastes time and exposes you.
- Murto has a wide detection radius. If he spots you even briefly, he charges and shoots. Break line of sight immediately and hide until he calms down.
- Murto can kill you in two shots. Never stay exposed for long.
- Your Q-Watch uses energy. Keep an eye on batteries scattered around the room. Pick them up to stay powered. Running out of watch energy means you cannot hack traps.
- Murto adapts. After using certain traps, he starts destroying or avoiding similar ones. Rotate between different hazards. Each type of trap can only work against him once.
- Use the Q-Lens to check positioning. A yellow triangle with an exclamation point will appear over Murto when he is in range of a trap. Do not trigger a trap until you see this indicator — wasting a trap makes Murto more cautious.
- Watch out for motion sensor laser grids. The basement floor is scattered with active motion sensors. Walking into their laser grids triggers a flashing red beacon that sends Murto straight to your location. However, these can also be hacked remotely to use as lures.
- Bond’s health can regenerate. If you back away completely and let Murto patrol while you stay hidden, your health will slowly recover. Use this if things go wrong.

All Environmental Traps to Beat Murto
The room contains multiple hazards you can hack with your watch. You need to trigger three of them successfully while Murto is standing close enough to take damage. Here is every trap available:
Chandelier
The chandelier is one of the best traps in the fight, and you can use it right at the start. When the encounter begins, look to your right and up at the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Note that there is only one chandelier in the room, located in the middle, so do not waste it.
Wait for Murto to walk underneath it. Then fire your Laser Strap or Dart Phone gadget at it to drop it on him — these are the only gadgets that can trigger the chandelier. This removes a full health bar instantly. If you do not have those gadgets, you can also use the radio near the chandelier as a distraction. Hack the radio from a distance, Murto will walk toward the noise, and then drop the chandelier on his head.
Floodlights

If you miss the chandelier window or want a fast start, the floodlights are your best opening. As the fight begins, Murto walks toward the center of the room past the floodlights. Act quickly and select the Blind hack option when he walks near one.
This removes a full bar of health without needing to reposition at all. Floodlights are mostly located at the corners of the room. There are two floodlights on the left side of the room past a gap in the shelves. If you miss the first one, wait for him to move near the second and hack that instead. The bright overload blinds him for a prolonged period and takes out a significant chunk of health.
Cargo Lift

The cargo lifts are metal plates embedded on the ground along the sides of the storage room. When Murto walks across one, activate it and it will electrocute him, removing a full health bar. Stay at a safe distance before activating it or you risk taking damage yourself. Timing is important — activating the lift too early or too late wastes the opportunity entirely.
One important warning here: after the cargo lift hits Murto once, he adapts. He will start destroying any cargo lift he approaches, so you only get one use out of this trap. Do not waste it by activating it too early.
To get Murto walking over the cargo lift faster, use the Lure option by pressing up on your D-pad. This pulls him toward your direction naturally. Alternatively, hack a nearby radio or motion sensor to bait him onto the plate.
Fume Extractors

Fume extractors are connected to the ceiling and have a red spotlight in front of them. Lure Murto into standing under the red spotlight area, then activate the fume extractor to blast hot steam into him. These are the most abundant traps in the room — scattered across multiple parts, both at the edges and in the middle — so you will usually have options if your first attempt misses.
Fume extractors also briefly disorient Murto, which gives you a few seconds to reposition or escape his line of sight after triggering one. This makes them one of the more forgiving traps to use, especially mid-fight when the pressure is on.
Motion Sensors and Radios (Lure Tools)

Motion sensors have active laser grids and will alert Murto if you accidentally walk through them — they trigger a red flash and he will immediately sprint to that exact tile. But you can also hack them remotely to use as bait, drawing Murto toward a specific area without exposing yourself. The same applies to radios scattered around the room — hack a radio from a distance and Murto will walk toward the sound.
This is extremely useful for guiding him into position under a chandelier or near a fume extractor. Just make sure you are not standing right next to the sensor or radio when it activates. These tools do not deal damage on their own — they are positioning aids only.
Step-by-Step Strategy to Beat Murto
Here is a clean, reliable order to get through the fight efficiently. The fastest confirmed sequence is: Floodlights → Cargo Lift → Chandelier, but you can mix and match based on what is available to you.
Health Bar 1 — Fast Opening
As soon as the fight starts, act fast. Murto moves toward the center of the room and walks near the floodlights. Select the Blind hack immediately to remove his first health bar before he even starts hunting you. If you have the Laser Strap or Dart Phone, look right and up at the chandelier instead and drop it on him when he walks underneath. Either approach removes the first bar cleanly without much risk. Remember to wait for the yellow exclamation point to appear in your Q-Lens before triggering — if you do not see it, he is not close enough yet.
Health Bar 2 — Cargo Lift or Fume Extractor
After the first hit, Murto becomes more active. Stay in cover and keep moving between sections of the room. Watch the floor carefully for motion sensor laser grids as you reposition — accidentally walking through one sends Murto straight to you. Use the lure option or hack a radio to pull him toward the cargo lift. When he walks across it, activate it to electrocute him. If the cargo lift positioning is awkward, a fume extractor works just as well here. Keep your watch charged — grab batteries if needed. If your health has dropped, back off entirely and let Murto patrol until it recovers.
Health Bar 3 — Finish the Fight
At this point Murto is down to his last bar and has destroyed or avoided most of the floor-level traps. The chandelier is the most reliable finishing move if you saved it. Lure him into the corner where the chandelier hangs, wait for the yellow exclamation to appear in your Q-Lens, and drop it. This ends the fight.
If the chandelier was already used in the opening, fall back on any remaining fume extractors or floodlights you have not triggered yet. Once all three bars are gone, Murto drops. Rush toward him to trigger the finishing cutscene.
How to Deal With Murto When He Spots You
Murto is aggressive. If he sees you even for a moment, he will charge and start firing. Here is how to handle it:
- Break line of sight immediately. Move behind a shelf, machinery, or any solid cover. Do not try to outrun him across an open section of the room.
- Cut around corners, not straight back. Moving around a shelf or into a different room section breaks his tracking faster than running in a straight line.
- Stay still and wait. Once he loses track of you, he returns to his patrol route. Only move again once he has calmed down.
- Do not panic and expose yourself. The fight rewards patience. Rushing leads to mistakes and wasted traps.
If your health drops low, back off completely. Bond’s health regenerates passively when he is out of danger, so let Murto patrol while you stay hidden and recover before attempting the next trap.
What Happens at the End of the Murto Fight
Once all three health bars are gone, rush toward Murto to trigger a cutscene. Bond and Murto fight directly at close quarters, and Bond ends the encounter by driving a stake through Murto. There are no extra phases or surprise combat sections after this — the fight is completely over.
After the cutscene, Bond takes Murto’s earpiece, listening in on the orders he was receiving. This reveals that Sir Nicholas Webb is behind everything — setting up the rest of the mission’s story beats. Moneypenny is skeptical because Webb is a powerful man, but suspicion alone is not enough, so Bond heads back up to find real evidence.
What to Do After Beating Murto
Before you leave the area, do one thing: run into the open room on the right side, just outside the storage room. There is a box in the back right corner. Open it to find the Restoration Room Keycard. Use it on the door directly across from you — Room 3. Inside, on a table, you will find Memento #8: Tero Murto Locket. It is easy to miss if you leave immediately after the cutscene and head straight for the elevator.

Tips for Harder Difficulties
Playing on Pursuit difficulty or higher? The Murto fight becomes much less forgiving. Keep these extra tips in mind:
- Never get caught. On harder difficulties, getting hit will drain your health fast. One bad exchange can end a run.
- Prioritize watch energy. Pick up every battery you see. Running out of watch energy means you cannot hack traps at all.
- Use lures proactively. Don’t wait for Murto to wander near a trap. Guide him there with radios and motion sensors to save time.
- Plan your trap order before acting. Know which three traps you intend to use and work toward them one at a time. Do not trigger anything until the Q-Lens yellow exclamation confirms he is in range.
- Treat motion sensors as a double-edged tool. Accidentally walking into one is extremely punishing at high difficulty. Learn their positions early and use them to lure rather than alert.
