TL;DR
- The Dilettante trophy/achievement requires filling all Art Collection and Equipment slots in Great Inagua Manor.
- You need: 41 Art Pieces, 9 Paintings, 20 Ship Models, 11 Portraits, 18 Swords, and 12 Pistols.
- 19 of the 41 Art Pieces are random drops from Brig Piracy missions in Kenway’s Fleet — the main bottleneck.
- Start farming Brigs in Kenway’s Fleet from Sequence 4 and never stop.
- Always make a manual save before accepting fleet reports so you can reload and reroll if no Art Piece drops.
- Nothing is missable. You can complete everything after finishing the main story.
- Expect this to be the longest trophy in your Platinum run — start early and chip away at it throughout the campaign.
What Is the Dilettante Trophy in AC Black Flag Resynced
The Dilettante trophy (Silver on PS5, 60G on Xbox) requires you to fill every Art Collection slot and Equipment slot inside the Great Inagua Manor. In plain terms, that means collecting a large number of decorations, weapons, and collectibles spread across the entire Caribbean and displaying them in Edward’s home base.
It is widely considered the most time-intensive trophy in the game — not because it is difficult, but because 19 of the required items are random drops from Kenway’s Fleet missions. Nothing is missable, and you can complete it after the main story ends. But if you start late, you will face a long idle grind waiting for fleet missions to complete.
The Dilettante trophy is also connected to the Art Lover side quest with Bernard Woodhouse, who tasks you with collecting 30 Art pieces in total to honour the manor’s former owner. Completing the Art Lover quest at its milestones earns the Le Bourgeoys Blades, Found Coin trinket, and three ship cosmetics referencing the Aquila from AC III.

Everything You Need for the Dilettante Trophy
The manor has specific decoration slots and weapon display cases. Here is the full list of what you need to fill them all:
- 41 Art Pieces — decorative objects like furniture, statues, and antiques
- 9 Paintings — one per Warehouse looted
- 20 Ship Models — one per ship type defeated
- 11 Portraits — collectible paintings of story characters
- 18 Swords — from stores, quests, and the world
- 12 Pistols — from stores, quests, and the world
Portraits are tracked separately under the The Memory of My Enemy trophy, but you need all 11 hung in the manor for Dilettante to count them. Paintings, Ship Models, and Art Pieces are all listed under Art Collection in your Codex menu.
Art Pieces — The Main Bottleneck (41 Total)
Art Pieces are the hardest part of the Dilettante trophy. There are 41 in total and they come from three sources.
16 Art Pieces Found in the World
These are spread across the Caribbean in chests, local events, and treasure map solutions. Syncing viewpoints marks most collectibles on the map, making them straightforward to find as you explore. Examples include pieces found in Nassau from local events, underwater chests at Corozal, and treasure map rewards across multiple islands.
6 Art Pieces Bought from the General Store
Six Art Pieces are sold directly at the General Store once it is built at Great Inagua. These cost Reales but require no hunting. Prioritise building and upgrading the General Store early. See our Great Inagua Upgrades Guide for the full building order and costs.
The six store Art Pieces and their approximate costs are:
- Taino Bust — 1,300 Reales
- Jar with Ritual Scene — 1,750 Reales
- Pectoral Disk — 2,100 Reales
- Seated Zemi Figure — 2,400 Reales
- Plus two additional pieces at varying prices from General Store stock
19 Art Pieces from Brig Piracy Missions (Random Drops)
This is the core grind. 19 Art Pieces drop randomly from Brig Piracy missions in Kenway’s Fleet. No other ship type drops them. No other mission type drops them. It is Brigs on Piracy routes only.
The drop rate is not guaranteed. You can run a full Piracy mission and get Reales and materials but no Art Piece. This is why you must start farming from Sequence 4 and keep Brigs running constantly throughout the entire campaign.
Here is the list of the 19 Art Pieces tied to specific Piracy routes (each one drops from a named mission in a particular region):
- Clock — Brig Piracy (West — Profitable War)
- Commode — Brig Piracy (Southwest — Treacherous Isles)
- Drum — Brig Piracy (West — Sneaky Traders)
- Goa Stone Container — Brig Piracy (Northeast — Big Mistake)
- Head of an Oba — Brig Piracy (Northeast — Trespassers)
- Jar with Four Faces — Brig Piracy (Southeast — Welcome Chaos)
- Joined Armchair with Cushion — Brig Piracy (Northwest — Sail North)
- Kast Cupboard — Brig Piracy (Southeast — Helping Hand)
- Mirror Back — Brig Piracy (Southwest — Easy Profit)
- Silver Two-handed Bowl — Brig Piracy (West — Fair Share)
- Trumpet — Brig Piracy (Northeast — A Pound of Gold)
- Violoncello — Brig Piracy (West — Fair Share)
- Whydah Galley-style Bell — Brig Piracy (Southeast — Right in the Middle)
- Wooden Term Statue of St. Adrian — Brig Piracy (West — Heavy Burden)
- Wooden Term Statue of St. Livertin — Brig Piracy (Northwest — Easy Prey)
- Plus four additional pieces distributed across other Piracy routes
Since the drops are per mission name and region, make sure you are running Brigs across all available regions — not just spamming the same route. See our full Kenway’s Fleet guide for the complete fleet setup and Risk Level management.
How to Farm Art Pieces Fast — Brig Piracy Method
This is the most important section for the Dilettante trophy. Follow these steps from Sequence 4 and you will avoid the post-game grind entirely.
Step 1 — Capture 5 Brigs as Early as Possible
Brigs are medium-sized ships with a ram at the front of the hull. They appear in easy and medium-difficulty regions. Once you unlock Kenway’s Fleet after This Old Cove, start capturing Brigs and sending them straight to the fleet. Capture at least five. Aim for three-star Brigs from the southern hard-difficulty regions — they have more health and survive Piracy missions without needing constant repairs.
Our guide on adding ships to your fleet covers the boarding process in detail.
Step 2 — Conquer Forts to Unlock Fleet Regions
You cannot send Brigs on Piracy missions in a region until you have captured the fort that controls it. Each fort you take opens a new section of the fleet map. Prioritise forts early. Our forts capture guide and forts guide cover all 11 forts and the best approach for each.
Step 3 — Send All 5 Brigs on Different Piracy Missions Simultaneously
Never leave a Brig idle. Every Brig that is sitting in port is a Piracy mission not running. Send all five Brigs out across different regions at the same time. Missions take 30 to 60 minutes in real time, running in the background while you explore.
Keep Man-o-Wars running Patrol missions to manage the Risk Level in each region. High Risk means ships take more damage and could sink before completing the mission. Two Man-o-Wars on rotation is enough to keep the damage manageable.
Step 4 — Make a Manual Save Before Accepting Fleet Reports
This is the single most important tip for the Art Piece grind. When your Brigs return and a fleet report notification appears, do not accept the report yet. Open the map and create a manual save first.
Now accept the report. Look at the new batch of missions offered. If none of the Piracy missions list an Art Piece in the rewards, reload your save and accept the report again. This rerolls the available missions. Repeat until you see an Art Piece listed as a mission reward, then assign the appropriate Brig to that mission.
This save-reload method cuts the grind significantly. Without it, you may run 40+ Piracy missions before all 19 Art Pieces drop. With it, you guarantee at least one Art Piece per report cycle.
Step 5 — Repair Ships Between Missions
Only repair a ship when the damage the next mission could deal exceeds the ship’s current health. Do not waste repair materials fixing a ship that still has enough health to survive. Use Schooners on Trade missions simultaneously to generate the Reales you need to cover repair costs. More details on fleet efficiency are in our Kenway’s Fleet guide.
Paintings — 9 Required
Paintings are straightforward. There are 9 Warehouses on the Caribbean map. Raiding each Warehouse once always drops one Painting. That means simply looting all 9 Warehouses gives you all 9 required Paintings automatically.
Warehouses have a locked door that requires a key. The key is held by a specific enemy in the surrounding area. In some cases you need to eavesdrop on guards to find the key holder. Warehouses can be filtered on the map using the D-Pad. Loot the warehouse on the first visit for the Painting — subsequent visits give Preserved Map Pieces instead.
Our Warehouse Key guide covers how to get into each one.
Ship Models — 20 Required
Ship Models are the easiest category. You get a ship model automatically every time you board a new type of ship for the first time. There are exactly 20 ship types in the game — five regular classes, plus Legendary Ships and unique named vessels.
The five regular ship types are Schooners, Cutters, Brigs, Frigates, and Man-o-Wars, each with national variants (Spanish, British, etc.). Boarding at least one of every variant fills all 20 slots. You will collect most of these naturally during normal play. Just make sure you board rather than sink ships so the model registers.
Defeating all Legendary Ships is also needed for the ship model collection. Our Legendary Ships guide covers all 6 fights in detail.
Portraits — 11 Required
Portraits are collectible paintings of story characters. There are 11 in total and all 11 are needed — both for the The Memory of My Enemy trophy and to fill the portrait frames in the manor for Dilettante.
Several Portraits are gated behind story progress and will not spawn until you reach a specific Sequence. After you hang the final portrait, a cutscene plays and The Memory of My Enemy unlocks. You also receive a treasure map for Great Inagua as a bonus reward.
Key things to know about Portraits:
- They do not appear on the map automatically — you need to get near them for them to show up.
- Some only appear after specific main story missions. Do your full post-story cleanup if any are missing.
- There are 11 frames in the manor to hang them on — 3 in the fleet planning room area, 1 in the bedroom, 1 near the staircase, and 6 in the corridor to the treasure room.
Swords — 18 Required
There are more than 18 swords in the game, so you do not need every single one — just any 18 to fill all the sword display cases in the manor. Some swords come from story progression, some are bought at the General Store, and others are found in the world or unlocked through quests.
Useful sources for swords include:
- Story rewards — the Officer’s Smallswords at the start of the game and British Cutlasses early in Havana
- General Store purchases — available once the store is built and upgraded
- Quest rewards — completing all Assassin Contracts earns the Spring-Steel Swords at contract 30
- The Fortune Legendary Cutlass — from the treasure map rewarded after hanging all 11 Portraits
- Persian Scimitars — from the Restored Weathered Map treasure
DLC swords from the Animus Exchange or paid packs also count toward the 18 needed. If you own any DLC weapons, they can substitute for regular ones and let you skip some of the store purchases.
Pistols — 12 Required
Similar to swords, there are more pistols in the game than the 12 slots require. You can choose any 12 to display. Pistols come from General Store purchases, world finds, and quest rewards.
Pistol Holder crafting upgrades are needed to equip more than one pistol during combat. Bull Shark Skins are required for the final Pistol Holder upgrade — the Fisherman’s Wharf at Great Inagua doubles skin drops from sea animals, making shark hunting much more efficient. See our health and healing guide for more on managing Edward’s gear upgrades.
DLC pistols from the Animus Exchange also count if owned.
Art Lover Side Quest Milestones
Bernard Woodhouse at the manor tracks your total Art collection progress. Every Art Piece, Painting, Ship Model, and Portrait you collect counts toward the Art Lover quest milestone counter. Here are the rewards at each milestone:
- 15 Art pieces collected: Le Bourgeoys Blades (Legendary Sword) and Found Coin (Rare Trinket)
- 25 Art pieces collected: The Aquila’s Sails, Aquila Figurehead, and The Aquila’s Wheel (ship cosmetics from AC III)
- 30 Art pieces collected: Obsidian Hull (Legendary Hull) and Master Assassin Outfit (Ezio’s outfit from the Ezio Trilogy)
These milestones are worth chasing even outside of trophy hunting. The Obsidian Hull and Legendary Sword are genuinely useful, and the cosmetics are some of the best in the game.
Best Order to Complete Dilettante
Here is the most efficient way to approach this trophy without burning out on the grind.
- Sequence 4: Unlock Kenway’s Fleet, capture 5 Brigs immediately, start sending them on Piracy missions. This is your most important step — do not delay.
- Throughout the campaign: Sync every viewpoint to mark collectibles. Raid Warehouses as you encounter them for Paintings. Board every new ship type for Ship Models.
- Mid-game: Upgrade the General Store at Great Inagua to access the 6 purchasable Art Pieces. Build the Treasure Dealer to unlock additional Art Piece sources from map fragments.
- Post-story: Collect any remaining Portraits gated behind story progress. Clean up world Art Pieces from chests and events you may have missed.
- Ongoing: Keep the save-reload fleet report method running until all 19 Brig Piracy Art Pieces have dropped.
If you are working through all trophies and want a full completion roadmap, our Owned trophy and achievement guide covers the rest of the list alongside Dilettante.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Starting the Brig fleet grind late. This is the single biggest mistake. Every hour you delay is wasted potential Art Piece drops. Start on Sequence 4 and never stop.
- Sinking ships instead of boarding. You get Ship Models only from boarding. Sinking a ship gives no model and no fleet capture. Always board.
- Accepting fleet reports without saving first. Always save manually before collecting reports. Forgetting once wastes a full mission cycle.
- Running only one or two Brigs. More Brigs running simultaneously means more chances per report cycle. Five Brigs is the minimum. Replace weaker ones with three-star versions as you find them.
- Ignoring forts. Locked fleet regions mean your Brigs cannot access certain Piracy missions. Some Art Pieces are tied to specific mission names in specific regions. Capture all 11 forts to open everything.
- Spending Reales on swords before completing other categories. Swords are expensive if you buy them all from stores. Let quest rewards and world finds cover as many as possible first.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need for the Dilettante trophy in AC Black Flag Resynced?
You need to fill all Art Collection and Equipment slots in Great Inagua Manor. That means collecting 41 Art Pieces, 9 Paintings, 20 Ship Models, 11 Portraits, 18 Swords, and 12 Pistols.
Why is Dilettante the hardest trophy in AC Black Flag Resynced?
Because 19 of the 41 required Art Pieces are random drops from Brig Piracy missions in Kenway’s Fleet. The drop rate is not guaranteed, missions take 30 to 60 minutes each, and you need to run them across multiple regions throughout the entire game.
How do I get the 19 Art Pieces from Kenway’s Fleet?
Capture at least 5 Brigs and send them on Piracy missions in all available fleet regions. Make a manual save before accepting each fleet report and reload the save if the new mission batch does not include an Art Piece reward. This lets you reroll missions without losing progress.
Can you get the Dilettante trophy after finishing the main story?
Yes. Nothing is missable and the game lets you free-roam after the story ends. However, some Portraits only spawn after specific story missions, so you may need post-game cleanup for those specifically.
Do you need all Portraits for the Dilettante trophy?
Yes. All 11 Portraits must be hung in the manor frames. They also count toward the separate The Memory of My Enemy trophy. Several Portraits are story-gated and will not appear until you reach the relevant Sequence.
How many Swords and Pistols do you need for Dilettante?
You need at least 18 Swords and 12 Pistols. There are more of each in the game than the slots require, so you can choose whichever are most accessible. DLC weapons count toward the total if you own any.
