Churin Local Legend Guide in Genshin Impact

    TL;DR

    • Churin is at an ice-sculpture training ground north of the House of Hesperides in Fellfrost Peak, Snezhnaya.
    • Talk to his master Bragin, agree to a spar, defeat the apprentices, then challenge Churin directly.
    • During the fight, he summons ice blocks and carves them into sculptures — stop every carving before it finishes.
    • Use a Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl team to reliably interrupt him — raw damage teams like Mavuika comps fail to stop the carvings.
    • All three objectives reward 60 Primogems total — 20 per task.
    • He is the hardest of the three Snezhnaya Local Legends to fight cleanly because his objectives are time-sensitive.

Churin Local Legend in Genshin Impact is one of the three Snezhnaya Local Legends added in Version 7.0 as part of the Snezhnaya Valiant Chronicles. He hides in plain sight at Fellfrost Peak in an ice-sculpture training ground run by his master Bragin and is arguably the most demanding of the three local legends in terms of fight mechanics. His two bonus objectives both require you to stop his ice-carving in time, which means team composition matters more here than with either Furiosa or Banje. This guide covers exactly where to find Churin, how to reach his training ground, how to start the spar, how to beat him, and how to complete all three objectives without failing them. For a full overview of every Snezhnaya Local Legend and all 180 Primogems, see our All Local Legends in Snezhnaya guide.

    Who Is Churin?

Churin is a Domovoy who trained diligently in Prime Ice sculpting under Bragin, a Volkodlak master sculptor. Bragin’s technique placed speed above everything else — his training prioritized physical conditioning and technique over any sense of artistry. Churin’s days of hard work as an apprentice gave him little in the way of artistic sensibility. But the relentless physical training had an unintended result: Churin became the strongest fighter in the entire training circle. Despite looking frail and weak compared to the other apprentices, he hits hard and fast — and some of his attacks can knock out your active character in a single blow.

Where to Find Churin in Genshin Impact

genshin impact snezhnaya local legend churin location

Churin is located in Fellfrost Peak, Snezhnaya, in an ice-sculpture training ground that sits north of the House of Hesperides. No quest completion is required to access him. Here is how to get there:

    • Travel east from Svetloledovka and follow the road heading toward Fellfrost Peak.
    • Look for a path lined with completed ice sculptures — this is the sign you are getting close.
    • Continue along the road until you reach a group of people actively practicing ice sculpting in a clearing.
    • This is Churin’s training ground. It sits at the edge of Fellfrost Peak, north of the House of Hesperides, and is still counted as part of that zone.

Because the training ground is in open terrain with no underground path or mansion entrance needed, getting back to Churin for retry attempts after a daily reset is fast and simple.

How to Start the Fight With Churin

Churin does not immediately appear as a boss when you arrive. You need to go through a short initiation first. Here is the sequence:

    • Approach the group at the training ground and speak to Bragin, the Volkodlak master running the session.
    • Agree to the spar when prompted.
    • Fight through the apprentices in the training ground. These are standard enemies and are not especially difficult.
    • Once all the apprentices are defeated, you can challenge Churin directly to begin the Local Legend fight.

This initiation only happens the first time. On subsequent visits after the daily reset, you can challenge Churin again without repeating the apprentice fights.

How to Unlock Churin in the Valiant Chronicles

Like all Snezhnaya Local Legends, Churin is tracked through the Valiant Chronicles system. Visit Katheryne at the Adventurer’s Guild after entering Snezhnaya. You need to be at least Adventure Rank 55 to access Valiant Chronicles. Once registered, Churin’s location and all three of his objectives are shown on your map. The third objective specifically requires World Level 9 to unlock, which is the standard requirement for the highest-tier Valiant Chronicles task on any Local Legend.

    How to Beat Churin

The Churin fight revolves entirely around one mechanic: ice sculpting. Throughout the battle, he periodically summons a block of ice and begins carving it. If he finishes carving, bad things happen. If you stop him in time, you make progress toward the objectives. Everything else in the fight — dodging his attacks, managing the arena — is secondary to this.

    The Ice Sculpting Mechanic

When Churin summons an ice block and starts carving, he is on a timer. Two outcomes are possible depending on what he sculpts:

    • Big-Mouthed Jack Frost: The most dangerous result. If he completes this specific sculpture, a Big-Mouthed Jack Frost spawns and fires powerful long-range attacks at you for the rest of the fight. This also directly causes you to fail Objective 2.
    • Other sculptures: Even when he does not make a Big-Mouthed Jack Frost, he can still finish carving other shapes. Each completed sculpture counts toward a separate failure condition. If any sculpture — of any type — finishes three times total, you fail Objective 3 for that run.

The goal is simple: stop every single carving before it is completed. Zero finished sculptures is the target for a clean run.

    How to Interrupt the Carvings

The only reliable method to interrupt Churin’s carving is to keep triggering Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl reactions consistently throughout the fight. These reactions continuously disrupt the carving animation, preventing him from finishing any sculpture.

Raw damage teams do not work the same way. A Mavuika team composition, for example, fails to interrupt the carvings even when dealing high damage. Churin continues carving through the hits, and the Big-Mouthed Jack Frost still forms. Do not rely on damage output alone — the reaction is the requirement, not the numbers.

    Other Attacks to Watch For

Outside of the sculpting phases, Churin is a strong and aggressive fighter:

    • Several of his direct attacks can one-shot your active character, especially at lower HP thresholds. Keep moving and dodge frequently.
    • He sometimes summons an Anemo vortex that stays fixed in one spot and continuously damages anyone standing inside it. Step out of it immediately rather than trying to fight through it.

Bringing a healer or shielder helps you survive the longer exchanges and gives you more time to land the reactions needed to stop the sculptures. Characters like Diona, Zhongli, or Bennett work well in a support slot here.

    All Three Churin Objectives

Each objective awards 20 Primogems. Two of them are directly tied to stopping the ice sculpting, so the Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl team is not optional if you want the full reward.

    • Objective 1 – Defeat Churin: Simply bring his HP to zero. This is the base requirement and always registers as long as you win the fight.
    • Objective 2 – Defeat Churin before he completes the Big-Mouthed Jack Frost sculpture: The moment he begins carving the Big-Mouthed Jack Frost, interrupt it before the sculpture finishes. If the Big-Mouthed Jack Frost fully forms even once, this objective fails for that run. There is no recovery — restart and try again.
    • Objective 3 – Defeat Churin before he completes any ice sculpture three times: This counts all sculpture completions, not just the Big-Mouthed Jack Frost. Even if he carves a different shape, each completion adds to the counter. If any sculpture finishes three times across the entire fight, this objective fails. You must defeat Churin before that third completion happens. Speed and constant reaction uptime are both essential.

    Total Primogems from Churin: 60

    Best Team for Churin

A Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl team is mandatory for this fight. Here is what each reaction needs and some good character options:

    Stellar-Conduct Team

Stellar-Conduct is triggered using Cryo and Electro with a Stellar Linchpin enabler in the party. A lineup of Cryo Traveler, Diona, Yae Miko, and Qiqi works reliably and was confirmed to interrupt Churin’s carvings cleanly. Sandrone-based compositions also fit this role well.

    Stellar-Swirl Team

Stellar-Swirl requires Cryo and Anemo with a Stellar Linchpin character present. As of Version 7.0, Odette and the Cryo Traveler are the primary enablers for this reaction. Sandrone and Mizuki can enhance the Stellar Vortex further once the reaction is active. Adding Kaedehara Kazuha or Venti as the Anemo applicator alongside a Cryo unit and Odette or Cryo Traveler creates a clean Stellar-Swirl setup.

Either reaction type works for the interrupt. Pick whichever setup you have better-built characters for. The key point is that the reaction must trigger frequently enough to stop every carving cycle before it ends.

What to Do If You Fail an Objective

If the Big-Mouthed Jack Frost forms during a run, Objective 2 is gone for that attempt. If any sculpture completes three times, Objective 3 is gone. In both cases, the only option is to finish the fight for Objective 1 and return after the daily server reset to retry the missed objectives. Completed objectives carry over in the Valiant Chronicles, so you only ever need to replay the ones still outstanding. On the retry, make sure your Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl reaction is ready before engaging and prioritize the carving phase the moment it starts.

Tips for Completing All Three Objectives in One Run

    • Never use a pure damage team. Mavuika comps and similar high-damage lineups do not interrupt Churin’s carvings. Only Stellar-Conduct and Stellar-Swirl consistently stop him.
    • Treat every carving animation as an emergency. The moment you see him start on an ice block, shift all attention to triggering the reaction. Damage to Churin himself can wait.
    • Bring burst damage for between carving
