Most players never find the Chillfallen Sword. It sits out in the open world with no quest marker pointing to it, no boss blocking it, and no crafting cost to unlock it. You just walk up and take it. The problem is it’s buried deep in one of the most dangerous frozen regions on the map, far from where most players spend their early hours. This guide gets you there fast.
What Is the Chillfallen Sword?
The Chillfallen Sword is a unique one-handed sword in Crimson Desert. It’s one of the strongest one-handed swords you can get in the early to mid game, and comparable weapons at the same stage tend to fall short in raw stats.
Here’s what it offers:
- 17 Attack
- Level 2 Attack Speed
- +4% damage to beasts
As a one-handed weapon, it leaves your off-hand free for a shield or secondary item. That makes it a strong pick for sword-and-board builds. If you’re running that style, pair it with something from our best unique weapons and armor guide to round out your loadout.
Where Is the Chillfallen Sword?
The sword is found at Snowhaven Hearth, a large open snow field located in The Argent Peaks, which is part of the Skoghorn area in West Pailune.

To get there from the start of the game, head northwest from Hernand and follow the Upper Nas River into the Pailune region. It’s a long journey, and the enemies in this zone hit noticeably harder than anything in the Hernand starting area. Avoid fights where you can, and ride your mount as much as possible to save time.
If you want a shortcut, use the Argent Peaks Abyss Nexus as your fast travel point. If you’ve already discovered it, this cuts out most of the trek. For tips on unlocking fast travel points, see our guide on how to fast travel in Crimson Desert.
Step-by-Step: How to Get the Chillfallen Sword
Step 1 – Travel to the Argent Peaks Abyss Nexus
Fast travel to the Argent Peaks Abyss Nexus in the Skoghorn area of West Pailune. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, ride northwest from Hernand, following the Upper Nas River until you reach the Pailune region and then head into Skoghorn.

Step 2 – Head Northeast on the Road
From the Abyss Nexus, follow the road as it heads northeast. Ride your mount straight and stick to the path.
Step 3 – Turn Left at the Fork
You’ll reach a fork in the road. Turn left here. This sends you toward a narrow gap between the cliffs and rocky outcroppings.
Step 4 – Go Through the Mountain Path
Push through the narrow path between the mountains. It opens up on the other side into a wide, snowy expanse. This is Snowhaven Hearth. The area may look empty at first, but keep going.
Step 5 – Cross to the Far Wall
Walk straight through the open area all the way to the far wall. You’ll see two skeletons resting against the cliff face. One of them has the Chillfallen Sword leaning against it. The sword has a faint glow that makes it stand out from the decorative weapons scattered around the field.

Step 6 – Interact to Pick It Up
Walk up to the sword and interact with it. It goes straight into your inventory. Equip it immediately if you want — no level gate or unlock required.
Tips Before You Go
Cold resistance helps but isn’t required. The Argent Peaks is a frigid region. Wearing armor with ice resistance makes the journey more comfortable. The Frostcursed Armor Set is a solid choice if you want full protection. You can also check our ice resistance and frost protection guide for other options.
Don’t fight everything on the way there. The enemies in Pailune are a big step up in difficulty. Mount up and ride past them rather than engaging every patrol. Getting there fast is more important than clearing the zone.
The sword doesn’t respawn. It’s a one-time pickup. Once you grab it, it’s yours — no need to worry about losing access.
Potential bug warning. A small number of players have arrived at the correct spot and found the skeleton but no sword. If this happens to you, try reloading your save. It appears to be a rare issue tied to specific save file states.
Sell your old sword before upgrading. Once you have the Chillfallen equipped, check out our guide on how to sell animals in Crimson Desert — and while you’re managing inventory, review what else you can offload. Our guide on should you sell recipes in Crimson Desert is also worth a read.
Is the Chillfallen Sword Worth Getting?
Yes, especially early on. The raw stats beat most one-handed swords you’d find or craft at the same point in the game. The beast damage bonus adds up too if you’re spending time hunting in the wilderness. The only cost is surviving the trek to Pailune, which is manageable if you ride fast and avoid unnecessary fights.
