The archery contest is introduced during Skilled in Archery, the 52nd main quest in Crimson Desert, which takes place in Chapter 4 – The Price of Knowledge. It follows directly after the Disturbance at the Arena quest, where you saved Yann.

- After returning to Howling Hill from the arena, Yann tasks you with competing in an archery contest on his behalf.

- Your bow stays drawn as long as you hold the aim button — releasing it even briefly adds a delay before your next shot.
- Both you and your opponent are competing for the same boards. Hitting a board prevents your opponent from scoring it, so even slightly imperfect accuracy can still win if you are fast enough.
- Your opponent has a fixed shooting speed — the AI does not scale with your performance. Once you are faster than it, you will win consistently.
- A scoreboard appears in the top right corner of your screen, showing your score and your opponent’s score below it.
