The Hidden Ruins of the Quarry puzzle in Crimson Desert is one of the most multi-layered secrets in the game. It is tied to a faction quest, requires two separate visits in different story chapters, and rewards you with the Abyss Transporter — one of the most useful items in the entire game. If you rush past it the first time, you will miss it entirely. This guide covers everything: how to unlock access, what you need before going in, and how to solve every step of the underground chamber. For context on the quest chain that leads here, check our guide on the Sealed in Stone quest guide and our full Crimson Desert guide hub.
What Is the Hidden Ruins of the Quarry?
Beneath Karin Quarry in the Hernand region lies a secret underground chamber. It is sealed shut by a large stone relic buried in the quarry floor — until you remove it using the crane during the Sealed in Stone quest. Once the stone is lifted, a hole opens in the ground, giving access to the ruins below.
However, the inner chamber is sealed by a Bismuth wall — a shimmering, metallic barrier that no normal attack or weapon can break. This wall can only be shattered with Focused Force Palm, a skill that is not available until Chapter 4. This is why the puzzle requires two visits: one to open the entrance, and a second return trip once you have the right ability.
Requirements — What You Need Before You Can Solve It
Do not waste time trying to complete this puzzle early. You need all three of the following before the inner chamber can be cleared:
- Complete the Sealed in Stone faction quest. This is the quest that opens the hole in Karin Quarry. It is part of the Estate in Dismay questline for House Roberts in Hernand. You unlock it by getting close to the House Roberts area in the City of Hernand, then progressing through the faction chain including the Stolen Quarry quest.
- Reach Chapter 4 and learn Focused Force Palm. This skill is learned from a memory in the Black Forest, which you pass through during the Scholastone main quest in Chapter 4. Travel the main road southwest of Fort Perwin to find it. Without this skill, the Bismuth wall cannot be broken.
- Obtain the Kuku Pot. The Kuku Pot is given to you during the Kilnden Workshop main story quest at the start of Chapter 4, after you help Grimnir repair the workshop. You need the Kuku Pot to store the Abyss Cell and Power Cores you collect inside the ruins.
If you are missing any of these, mark Karin Quarry on your map and come back. The entrance stays open once the Sealed in Stone quest is done.
How to Get to the Hidden Ruins of the Quarry
Karin Quarry is located north of Hernand Town, past the river east of Three Saint’s Falls. Once you have completed the Sealed in Stone quest, the hole in the center of the quarry floor is open. Drop down into it and descend deeper into the underground chamber. If you are fast traveling, there is an Abyss Nexus to the west of Karin Quarry that gets you back here quickly without a long overland trip. For tips on how to navigate Hernand efficiently, check our guide on how to enter Hernand Castle.

Step 1 — Disable the First Turret
As you descend into the underground chamber, you will immediately encounter a blue turret that locks onto you and opens fire. Do not try to fight it with weapons — it is a mechanical enemy.
Use Axiom Force to grab the turret and disable it. It will drop an Abyss Power Core when destroyed. Store this Power Core in your Kuku Pot using the Seal prompt. Do not leave it on the ground.
Past the first turret is a small altar with 3 Palmar Pills. Pick these up before moving on — free healing items are always worth grabbing. For more on Axiom Force and how it works, see our guide on how to use Axiom Force in Crimson Desert.
Step 2 — Break the Bismuth Wall with Focused Force Palm
To the left of the altar, you will see the Bismuth wall — a glowing, chrome-metallic barrier blocking the path forward. This is the main obstacle of the entire puzzle.
Here is how to break it:
- Enter Focus mode to build up Spirit energy.
- Hold the Force Palm button to charge up the Focused Force Palm. As you charge, a glowing sphere will appear in your field of view.
- Look through the semi-transparent wall. You will see a golden orb glowing inside the barrier — this is the power source projecting the wall.
- Aim the sphere directly at the golden orb and release. The Focused Force Palm fires straight through the wall and shatters the core from the inside, destroying the barrier.
- After releasing, roll backward quickly to avoid any chip damage from the blast.
Tip: Make sure your stamina bar is full before attempting this. Low stamina can prevent the focus circle from aligning properly, and the wall will deflect your strike. If the first shot misses, recharge and try again — aim for the center of the golden glow.
Step 3 — Seal the Abyss Cell
Once the Bismuth wall is shattered, you will see a floating Abyss Cell that was powering the barrier. Do not leave it alone. If you walk away without dealing with it, the defenses in the area may reactivate.
Use Axiom Force on the Abyss Cell and select Seal to store it inside your Kuku Pot. This stabilizes the local area and opens the path into the final chamber beyond.
Step 4 — Clear the Final Chamber and Collect the Power Cores
The room beyond the broken wall contains two more turrets. Deal with each one the same way as the first — use Axiom Force to disable them, then Seal the remains in your Kuku Pot. Each turret drops a Power Core:
- Power Core — Spire of Defiance
- Power Core — Crown of Shadows
Store both in your Kuku Pot. These Power Cores are specifically needed for the Thinker’s Meadow puzzle near your Howling Hill camp — the broken Abyss Nexus platform right by your personal house. If you have been wondering what that unfinished platform is for, this is where the parts come from. See our guide on how to unlock the Thinker’s Meadow fast travel point for full details on using everything you collect here.
Step 5 — Claim the Abyss Transporter
With all three turrets disabled and all Power Cores sealed, a floating metallic disc in the center of the final room becomes interactable. This is the Abyss Transporter.
Use Axiom Force on it, then press the Seal prompt to store it inside your Kuku Pot. The Abyss Transporter is now yours.

What Is the Abyss Transporter and How Do You Use It?
The Abyss Transporter is one of the most important items you find in Crimson Desert. It is used to complete broken or unfinished Abyss Nexus fast travel points scattered across the world. There are two unfinished Abyss Nexus points in Pywel that require the transporter:
- Thinker’s Meadow — Near the Howling Hill camp, right next to your personal house.
- Pailune Camp — Near the camp you set up after moving to Pailune.
To place the Abyss Transporter at one of these Nexus points:
- Go to the unfinished Abyss Nexus and discard the Abyss Transporter from your Kuku Pot near the platform.
- Use Axiom Force to position the disc above the Nexus. A glow will appear when you have it in the correct position.
- Stand on top of the disc, then jump and use Force Palm to slam it down into place.
Once installed, the Nexus becomes a working fast travel point. The Thinker’s Meadow one is especially useful because it puts a teleport destination right next to your personal camp. Common Issues and Fixes
The Bismuth wall will not break. You are missing the Focused Force Palm skill. It is not available until Chapter 4. Return after learning it in the Black Forest during the Scholastone main quest.
I do not have a Kuku Pot. Complete the Kilnden Workshop main story quest at the start of Chapter 4. Grimnir gives you the Kuku Pot as part of that quest.
The Abyss Transporter is not appearing. Make sure the Sealed in Stone quest is marked as complete and all turrets in the chamber have been disabled and sealed. The floating disc only becomes interactable after the room is fully cleared.
I cannot find the hole in Karin Quarry. The hole only opens after you complete the Sealed in Stone quest and use the crane to extract the relic. If the hole is not there, the quest is not yet done. Check our guide on the Stolen Quarry quest guide to progress through the faction chain first.
