There are 89 craftable Abyss Gear Blueprints in Crimson Desert. Blueprints are what unlock the ability to craft Abyss Gears at any Witch’s Altar — without a blueprint, you cannot make that gear. They come from two sources: the four main Witches who sell a fixed selection directly for Silver, and six Exploration Dispatch Missions that drop blueprints at a 2% chance per run. This guide covers every source, every unlock requirement, and what blueprints each location can produce.

TL;DR
- There are 89 Abyss Gear Blueprints total — 11 from Witches (bought directly) and 78 from six Exploration Dispatch Missions.
- Blueprints are permanent once read — they do not expire or get consumed.
- Dispatch Mission blueprints have a 2% drop rate. Save before a mission completes and reload if you do not get the one you want.
- Each Witch sells different blueprints — you need all four to access the full shop selection.
- You need a Comrade with the Exploration trait to run Exploration Dispatch Missions.
- Golden Beer doubles dispatch rewards — get it before grinding blueprints. See our Golden Beer reward location guide.
- Maxing Trust with a Witch does not unlock new Abyss Gear blueprints — it unlocks higher-tier Elixir blueprints instead.
- Patch 2.00.00 note: Abyss Artifacts spent crafting gears from these blueprints now automatically generate Abyss Links for Damiane and Oongka — so farming blueprints and crafting gears for Kliff’s build no longer delays your companions.
How Abyss Gear Blueprints Work
Abyss Gears are socketable gems that you embed into weapons and armor slots to add stat bonuses and special effects. They are one of the most important progression systems in Crimson Desert. Blueprints let you craft Abyss Gears at any Witch’s Altar under the Craft Abyss Gear section.
Once you read a blueprint, it is permanently unlocked. You can then:
- Craft a Level 1 Abyss Gear using materials.
- Combine two Level 1 gears to make a Level 2.
- Combine two Level 2 gears to make a Level 3.
- Very rarely, fusing two Level 2 gears produces a Greater Abyss Gear (roughly 4% chance) — a stronger variant with a durability meter that breaks after extended use.
Abyss Gears are freely moveable between weapons and armor — you can extract them from any item and re-embed them elsewhere. Only creating new sockets costs money; extraction and embedding is free at any Witch. Source 1 — The Four Witches (11 Blueprints)
The four main Witches each sell a fixed set of blueprints directly for Silver. These are the easiest blueprints to get — no dispatch missions, no drop rates. Unlock each Witch by finding her disguised form in the open world and helping her. Each Witch must be found in her initial disguised location before she moves to her hideout where she sells goods.
Sylvia — The Hermit Witch (No Blueprints for Sale)
Sylvia is the first Witch you encounter, found in the Shadow Whisper Cave north of Hernand City. She can embed, extract, and craft Abyss Gears, but she does not sell any blueprints. She is a tutorial-style Witch who introduces the system. See our full all Witches locations guide for full details on finding each one.
Elowen — Witch of Wisdom (3 Blueprints)
Location: Near the Witchwoods, southwest of Castle Hernand. Unlocks during the Missing Seal main quest in Chapter 5.
Blueprints sold:
- Vigor — utility stat blueprint
- Vitality — utility stat blueprint
- Composure — utility stat blueprint
Elowen is the most convenient Witch for regular crafting. Her workshop in the Witchwoods has an alchemy cauldron and a fast travel point right at the door. She also sells Lesser Elixir blueprints. Unlocking her early is strongly recommended.
Bari — Witch of Kindness (3 Blueprints)
First found: Southeast of the Wayward Woods in Pailune at Silverwolf Cave. Help the stranger light a fire to pass her test. True location: Cabin on the Crimson Lake of Pailune.
Blueprints sold:
- Fortitude — defensive blueprint
- Ascent — offensive pressure blueprint
- One additional Bari-exclusive blueprint (offensive/utility type)

Lyselia — Witch of Humility (3 Blueprints)
First found: Near Beighen, southeast of Pailune City, hanging from a broken bridge. Help her up to pass her test. True location: Hidden Cave in Serpent Marsh, west of Delesyia.
Blueprints sold:
- Fortification (+Defense) — only available from Lyselia
- Aegis (Damage Reduction) — only available from Lyselia
- Fortitude — defensive blueprint
If you need defensive Abyss Gears for your armor, Lyselia is your only source. Do not skip her.
Areciel — Witch of Strength (2 Blueprints)
First found: North of Tashkalp in the Crimson Desert region, at the Tommaso Fork Posthouse — she appears as a crying child beggar. Give her a Bronze Coin to help her. True location: Cliff-side hideout at the World’s Navel in Tashkalp — climb to the roof to find her.
Blueprints sold:
- Destruction — offensive blueprint, only from Areciel
- Insight — offensive blueprint, only from Areciel
Important: Areciel will not appear at her hideout until you have completed the Sanctum faction quests for the other three Witches (Elowen, Bari, and Lyselia). Source 2 — Exploration Dispatch Missions (78 Blueprints)
The remaining 78 blueprints come from six Exploration Dispatch Missions at ruins across Pywel. Each mission has a 2% chance per run to drop one of the blueprints in its pool. You need at least one Comrade with the Exploration trait to run these missions — five Comrades carry this skill: Devan, Falstaff, Joseph, Arnold, and Xavier, all unlocked by completing the Howling Hill expansion missions.
Save scumming tip: Make a manual save before a Dispatch Mission completes. If the blueprint you want does not appear, reload and collect the reward again. This is the most efficient way to target specific blueprints given the 2% drop rate. After a successful run, check your Private Storage chest at Howling Hill camp for the blueprint. Dispatch Mission 1 — Reachwood Ruins Exploration (Hernand)
Location: East of Pororin Village, in the Florindale area of Hernand.
How to unlock:
- Complete the Unreachable Village Faction Quest to access Pororin Village.
- Visit the Pororin Research Institute and complete Natural Harmony Research first.
- Complete Palmar Leaf Research (see our Palmar Leaf Research Halted guide if it stops at 50%).
- Then complete Reachwood Ruins Dispatch Plan research task to unlock the mission.

Dispatch Mission 2 — Verheim Ruins Exploration (Pailune)
Location: Near Odeck Village in the far north of Pailune.
How to unlock: Complete the Executioner of Justice questline from the Odeck Tribe in Pailune. The Verheim Ruins are located near Odeck village once the questline is done.
Dispatch Mission 3 — Kingshield Digsite Exploration (Demeniss)
Location: Kingshield Mountains, north of Demeniss.
How to unlock: Complete the Beneath the Dig Site Faction Quest in the House Marshell tab in Demeniss. This quest requires defeating Kutum. See our how to beat Kutum guide.
Notable blueprints from this location:
- Dark Crescent — strong offensive Abyss Gear
- Greysoul Howling — strong offensive Abyss Gear
The Kingshield Digsite is accessible relatively early in the playthrough despite sitting near higher-level zones. Clear the area of hostiles and wait for the location name to turn white on your map before the Dispatch Mission activates. This is one of the most frequently recommended dispatch locations for blueprint farming.
Dispatch Mission 4 — Bordig Ruins Excavation (Crimson Desert Region)
Location: Bordig Ruins in the Crimson Desert region.
How to unlock: Defeat Ravok of the Savage Fangs as part of the Master of the Wetlands Faction Quest in the Lords of Unclaimed Lands tab for the Crimson Desert region. Head southeast of the Bordig Ruins to trigger this encounter. Once Ravok is defeated, return to the Bordig Ruins to begin the Dispatch Mission.
Blueprint focus: Bordig Ruins is especially useful for support and companion-style Abyss Gears — build options outside of pure damage. Good for players building utility and hybrid loadouts.
Dispatch Mission 5 — Timeworn Ruins Excavation (Crimson Desert Region)
Location: South of the second “E” in “Crimson Desert” on the map.
How to unlock: Liberate the Timeworn Ruins. If the area is locked, complete the Knight of Fortune and Raiders of the Crimson Sands Lords of Unclaimed Lands Faction Quests in the Crimson Desert tab. In some cases, visiting the ruins and clearing enemies directly liberates the area without the quests.
Blueprint focus: Timeworn Ruins has some of the best utility and build-defining blueprints in the game — considered a top-priority dispatch location for completionists.
Dispatch Mission 6 — Serpent Shrine Exploration (Ancient Bosses)
Location: Serpent Shrine — accessible after Chapter 7 at minimum.
How to unlock: Complete Aeserion, The Great Serpent quest by visiting the Serpent Shrine location. This quest requires defeating all three Ancient Bosses:
- Priscus — located in the basement of the Spire of Ringing Truth. See our Priscus guide.

Notable blueprint: The Showstopper — excellent for launch-heavy builds. The Serpent Shrine pool is focused on lightning, chaos, and combo-focused Abyss Gears — one of the most powerful pools in the game for offensive builds.

Tips for Farming Blueprints Efficiently
- Get Golden Beer before grinding. It permanently doubles all dispatch rewards — that includes blueprint drop chances per run. The sooner you have it, the faster your blueprint farm. See our Golden Beer guide for how to unlock it in Demeniss.
- Save scum the 2% drops. Make a manual save before a dispatch mission completes. If your target blueprint does not drop, reload. This is the intended farming loop for blueprint hunters.
- Run all six Dispatch Missions in parallel. Each runs independently. With a full roster of Comrades (including Exploration-trait members), you can have multiple missions running simultaneously. With Golden Beer active, every mission pays out double.
- Unlock Witches in order. Elowen is automatic through the main story. Bari, Lyselia, and Areciel all require open-world discovery. Do not skip them — each one has exclusive blueprints you cannot get anywhere else. Check our unlock Witches and Abyss Gears guide for the full process.
- Areciel requires Sanctum completion first. You cannot access her blueprints until you have cleared the Sanctums for Elowen, Bari, and Lyselia. Prioritise the Sanctums early to unlock Destruction and Insight blueprints. Our all Sanctum locations guide lists every one.
- Kingshield Digsite early. Despite being near higher-level content, it is accessible early and has a strong blueprint pool including Dark Crescent and Greysoul Howling. Unlock it as soon as you can beat Kutum.
- Do not max Trust on Witches for blueprints. Trust increases unlock higher-tier Elixir blueprints, not new Abyss Gear blueprints. Focus your Trust gifts elsewhere if Abyss Gear blueprints are your priority.
- Patch 2.00.00 — Abyss Artifacts now go further. Crafting gears from your blueprints costs Abyss Artifacts. Since Patch 2.00.00, every Artifact you spend on Kliff’s builds automatically generates Abyss Links for Damiane and Oongka. You no longer need to hold back a separate stockpile for each character before spending on gear crafting. Farm freely and invest as soon as you have the blueprints.
