How to Get Palmar Leaf in Crimson Desert

Palmar Leaf in Crimson Desert grows in Hernand near the Mountain of Frozen Souls waterfall — here are all 3 locations, the vendor method, and the dispatch mission explained.

Palmar Leaf is one of the most important crafting materials in Crimson Desert. You need it to make Refined Palmar Pills — consumables that revive you at full health when you die — making it arguably the most valuable ingredient in the game. The catch is that it only grows in a few specific places, refreshes slowly, and is locked behind story progress for the vendor method. This guide covers every way to get Palmar Leaf, the best farming spots, and what to use it for.

TL;DR

  • There are three methods: wild gathering, buying from a vendor, and a dispatch mission.
  • Best early method: Gather from wild spawn locations in Hernand — they respawn every 7 in-game days.
  • Location 1: Base of the waterfall in the far south of Hernand, near the Mountain of Frozen Souls.
  • Location 2: Hernandian Ruins, on the cliff west of Lake Kharonso in southwest Hernand.
  • Location 3 (Pororin Village): Behind the giant tree in the northeast of Floridale / north of Pororin Village — unlocked after the Palmar Leaf Research.
  • Best late-game method: Buy from Leroy at Pailune Castle (requires Chapter 7 progress + 100 Trust).
  • Dispatch Mission: Reachwood Ruins at Pororin — yields 3 to 7 leaves every 48 in-game hours but costs a lot of camp materials. Not recommended early on.
  • Palmar Leaf also grows alongside Palmar Beetles — you can farm both in one trip.

What Is Palmar Leaf Used For

Palmar Leaf is described in-game as a leaf from a glowing flower, shaped like a palm, found only in regions rich with natural energy. It is fragile and easy to damage during gathering. The item carries a Spirit Consumption effect that slightly increases spirit usage over time, but what you can craft with it makes it worth stocking.

The two main uses are:

  • Refined Palmar Pill — revives you on death at full health. One of the most powerful consumables in the game, especially for tough bosses. See our full guide on how to get and use Palmar Pills.
  • Haiden’s Greater Elixir — a combat consumable that boosts combat effectiveness in extended fights. Unlocked through the Plant Combination Research at Pororin Village.

Do not sell raw Palmar Leaf. The consumables you craft with it are far more valuable than the 400 silver per leaf you would earn from selling.

Method 1 — Wild Gathering Locations (Best Early Method)

Wild Palmar Leaf nodes appear as clusters of glowing green plants on the ground. They are visually distinct and easy to spot once you are in the right area. Each patch gives one leaf. Nodes respawn every 7 in-game days.

Location 1 — Base of the Waterfall, Mountain of Frozen Souls (South Hernand)

The best and most accessible wild farming spot. Head to the far south of Hernand, to the Mountain of Frozen Souls area. Look for a large waterfall along the coastline. At the base of the waterfall, you will find a small field of glowing Palmar Leaf plants. There is a nearby fast travel point that makes return visits quick.

This is the recommended first stop because it also spawns Palmar Beetles, so you gather both key ingredients for Palmar Pills in one trip. This area is also connected to the Face Behind the Mask quest line — if you need context on the Mountain of Frozen Souls zone, see our Face Behind the Mask quest walkthrough.

Location 2 — Hernandian Ruins, West of Lake Kharonso (Southwest Hernand)

The second wild spawn is at the Hernandian Ruins, on the cliff west of Lake Kharonso in the southwest portion of Hernand. This is a backup location to visit on the same 7-day cycle when Location 1 has already been cleared. Both locations refresh at the same rate, so rotate between them.

Location 3 — Behind the Giant Tree, Pororin Village (Floridale)

Once you have accessed Pororin Village and completed the Palmar Leaf Research at the Research Institute, a third gathering area gets marked on your map. It is located behind the giant tree in the northeast of Floridale, just north of Pororin Village. Around the perimeter of this tree you will find several groupings of Palmar Leaves to gather.

To unlock Pororin Village, you must first complete the Unreachable Village / Trembling Woods faction quest. Enter Pororin Forest three times — the Shai children knock Kliff out with sleep darts each time. On the third visit, speak with Arkin and retrieve the Pororin Relic from a giant Ent in Trembling Gorge. For the full walkthrough see our Unreachable Village quest guide.

Tips for Wild Gathering

  • Use the Kuku Gardening Pack to speed up gathering significantly. It collects plants in a wide area automatically.
  • Use the Kuku Insect Gather’s Pack alongside it to collect Palmar Beetles at the same time.
  • Without the Kuku tools, you have to pick everything up by hand — tedious but doable early on. See our guide on how to farm Kuku Packs to get these tools.
  • After completing the Efficient Gathering Research at Pororin (70 Silver, 20 hours), you get a chance to collect bonus plants while gathering — this increases Palmar Leaf yield per visit.

Method 2 — Buy from Leroy at Pailune Castle (Best Late-Game Method)

The most convenient source of Palmar Leaf once you are in the later chapters is Leroy, a street vendor at Pailune Castle. He is described as a herbalist who knows Pailune’s mountain paths well.

Requirements

  • Chapter 7 story progress — Pailune Castle is locked until you reach this point in the main quest.
  • +100 Trust with Leroy — Palmar Leaf is part of his rare stock, which requires Trust before he will sell it to you.

How to Build Trust with Leroy

Gift Leroy Gold Bars or Coin Pouches to build Trust. Keep gifting until you hit +100. Once at that Trust level, his rare stock including Palmar Leaf becomes available for purchase. See our guide on how to get Gold Bars if you need them for the gifting process.

Leroy’s Restock Schedule

Leroy’s inventory refreshes every 7 in-game days, the same cycle as wild nodes. Once you have the Trust unlocked, you can return weekly and buy out his stock. This method is better than farming for players who are already spending time in Pailune Castle for other quests and activities. Method 3 — Reachwood Ruins Dispatch Mission (Not Recommended Early)

After completing the Palmar Leaf Research at Pororin Village’s Research Institute, you unlock the Reachwood Ruins Dispatch Mission. The Reachwood Ruins are east of Pororin Village.

How to Start the Dispatch Mission

  • Complete the Unreachable Village faction quest to access Pororin.
  • Bring 5 Lavender to the lead researcher Lumiel at the Research Institute to activate it.
  • Complete the Palmar Leaf Research project (costs 9 Silver, takes 6 hours — but pauses at 50% progress requiring you to hand a Palmar Leaf to the Research Assistant to resume it). See our Palmar Leaf Research Halted guide if you get stuck at 50%.
  • Once research completes, open your Camp Management menu to access the Reachwood Ruins dispatch.
  • Assign 8 Greymane members and provide the required camp materials.
  • Wait 48 in-game hours. Your team returns with 3 to 7 Palmar Leaves.

Why to Skip This Early

The Reachwood Ruins dispatch consumes a significant amount of camp materials per run. Those same materials are needed for gear upgrades and other camp progression systems that matter more in the early and mid-game. Unless your camp materials are genuinely surplus, stick to wild gathering and Leroy’s shop. Run the dispatch passively only when you have resources to spare.

How the Palmar Leaf Research Works at Pororin

The Palmar Leaf Research project at Pororin’s Research Institute is worth completing for two reasons: it marks the wild gathering locations on your map, and it unlocks the Reachwood Ruins dispatch mission. It costs just 9 Silver and takes 6 in-game hours, but it pauses at 50% progress.

When the research halts at 50%, you will get a notification saying it has stopped with no other explanation. To resume it:

  • Open your Journal and go to Faction Quests.
  • Open the Pororin Forest Guardians section under the Hernand category.
  • Find the Palmar Leaf Research Halted mission and set it as active.
  • Follow the marker to the Pororin Research Assistant under the large tree.
  • He needs one Palmar Leaf. Give it to him, and the research resumes for the remaining 6 hours.

After completion, the gathering areas are permanently marked on your map and the dispatch mission becomes available. Full steps in our Palmar Leaf Research Halted guide.

Tips for Farming Palmar Leaf Efficiently

  • Rotate all three wild locations on the same 7-day cycle. Mountain of Frozen Souls waterfall → Hernandian Ruins → Pororin tree (once unlocked). Doing all three per cycle maximises your leaf count without any camp material cost.
  • Palmar Beetles spawn alongside Palmar Leaves at every location. Bring an Insect Gather’s Pack or clear the beetles manually — you need both for Palmar Pills so there is no reason to leave them behind.
  • Complete the Palmar Leaf Research early. It only costs 9 Silver and permanently marks farming locations on your map. Do it as soon as you access Pororin.
  • Do not sell raw Palmar Leaves. Each leaf is worth 400 Silver raw but far more value as a crafted consumable.
  • Stock up before tough boss fights. Refined Palmar Pills revive you at full health — having 5 to 10 before a difficult encounter is the difference between clearing it and restarting. For a boss fight that requires serious preparation, check our guide on getting Electrical Components — the Delesyia region where you farm them also has late-game boss encounters that will drain your healing items.
  • Bring a pet companion to help auto-loot nearby drops while you focus on gathering. See our how to get a pet guide if you do not have one yet.
  • Advance time at a cooking pot if you need leaves faster and the nodes have just refreshed. Sleeping forward 7 in-game days resets all wild spawns.
