All Icemoor Castle Ruins Treasure Chests in Crimson Desert

TL;DR

  • Icemoor Castle Ruins is in western Hernand — visit as part of the House Serkis “Lord Amidst the Ruins” questline
  • Bring Level 5 Ice Resistance before entering — the cold severely slows stamina regeneration without it
  • There are four lootable items hidden in the ruins plus the Staglord’s Shield boss reward
  • Chest 1 (upper room): Leather Cloak of the Fallen Kingdom — behind the Stag Lord’s throne, up stairs, right across the bridge, crawl through hole in wall, Force Palm the planks
  • Bonus: Fallen Kingdom’s Rapier (Damiane only) is in the same hidden room, leaning against a barrel
  • Chest 2 (wall weapons): Tommaso Guard’s Dagger-Tipped Spear and Sydmon Spear — up the first stairs from the center, turn 180 degrees to find them embedded in the wall
  • Boss reward: Staglord’s Shield — awarded after defeating Saigord the Staglord

Icemoor Castle Ruins is one of the most loot-dense locations in Hernand and most players leave it with only the boss reward. The hidden chests require crouching through a hole in the wall, breaking boards with Force Palm, and knowing exactly which unremarkable wall to turn around and inspect for weapons. None of it is signposted.

This guide covers every item in the ruins — where it is, how to reach it, and what it is worth picking up.

Before You Enter: Ice Resistance Is Essential

Icemoor Castle Ruins is a frozen environment. The cold imposes a severe penalty on stamina regeneration — meaning every dodge, attack, and block costs more than normal and recovers far slower. Without cold protection, every fight inside the ruins becomes significantly harder.

Equip a cold-resistant cloak and eat cold-resistance food to reach at least Level 5 Ice Resistance before entering. At Level 5 the cold’s stamina effect is completely negated and your recovery returns to normal.

How to Get to Icemoor Castle Ruins

Icemoor Castle Ruins is located in western Hernand, north-northwest of Hernand Town. On the map it sits between the “R” and the first “N” in the word “HERNAND”, northwest of Nightstorm Cave.

The ruins become relevant during the House Serkis faction questline — specifically the quest chain called “Lord Amidst the Ruins”, which sends you here to confront Saigord the Staglord. You can enter and explore the ruins before this quest activates, but enemies inside will be active from the start regardless.

Fast travel to the closest Abyss Nexus in western Hernand and ride north. The ruins sit on elevated terrain and are hard to miss once you approach the area.

All Treasure Chests and Loot Locations

Loot 1 & 2: Tommaso Guard’s Dagger-Tipped Spear and Sydmon Spear (Wall-Mounted Weapons)

Location: Upper room, first staircase from the center of the ruins

These two weapons are not in chests — they are mounted on the wall inside a small upper room. Here is how to find them:

tommaso guard s dagger tipped spear 2

  1. From the center of the castle (the main hall where you fight the Stag Lord), head up the stairs
  2. Head up the next set of stairs to enter a small room
  3. Immediately turn around 180 degrees — do not continue forward
  4. You will see a bundle of spears embedded into the wall in front of you
  5. The Tommaso Guard’s Dagger-Tipped Spear is one of them — pull it free
  6. The Sydmon Spear is mounted just to the left of it on the same wall — pull it free too

Both weapons are easy to walk straight past if you do not know to turn around. Most players head through this room looking ahead and never notice what is behind them.

Stats:

The Tommaso Guard’s Dagger-Tipped Spear and Sydmon Spear are mid-tier spears suited for early Hernand content. Both can also drop randomly from Bleed Bandits or appear in treasure chests across Hernand if you miss them here — but picking them up from the wall while you are already in the ruins is the most reliable method.

Loot 3: Leather Cloak of the Fallen Kingdom (Hidden Room Chest)

How to reach it:

treasure 3 leather cloak of the fallen kingdom
  1. From the center of the ruins where you fought the Stag Lord, head north past the Stag Lord’s throne
  2. Take the stairs going up
  3. At the top, turn right and cross the bridge
  4. Follow the path forward — it is largely linear from here
  5. Continue until you reach a dead end with a hole at the bottom of the wall
  6. Crouch (L3 on controller / C on PC) at the hole
  7. Use Force Palm (R3 on controller / mouse wheel on PC) to break through the wooden boards blocking the crawlspace
  8. Crawl inside
  9. Turn left inside the hidden room — the chest is there

Open the chest to collect the Leather Cloak of the Fallen Kingdom.

Stats: Defense 1, Lightning Resistance Level 3

The Lightning Resistance Level 3 makes this cloak genuinely useful for combat in regions with electric enemies and hazards later in the game. It is one of the earliest Lightning Resistance cloaks you can find, and it costs nothing except a short detour through the ruins.

Bonus Loot: Fallen Kingdom’s Rapier (Same Hidden Room)

Location: Same hidden room as the Leather Cloak chest — leaning against the barrel on the left, behind the chest

The Fallen Kingdom’s Rapier is not in the chest. It is a loose weapon sitting on the floor next to a barrel on the left side of the room. It can fall over, so if you do not see it standing upright next to the barrel, look around the floor in the same room.

Important: The Fallen Kingdom’s Rapier is Damiane-exclusive. Kliff cannot equip it. If you are playing as Damiane or plan to, this is one of the best early rapiers available for her and should not be left behind.

Stats: Attack 18, Attack Speed Level 2

At 18 attack it is the strongest base-damage rapier available in the early game. Speed Level 2 keeps Damiane’s attack chains fast and the combination makes it a solid mid-game weapon that holds up well into Demeniss content. For Damiane weapon and build advice, see our Crimson Desert best early build guide.

Boss Reward: Staglord’s Shield

How to get: Defeat Saigord the Staglord as part of the House Serkis “Lord Amidst the Ruins” questline

The Staglord’s Shield is awarded automatically after the closing cutscene following Saigord’s defeat. You do not need to loot it — it goes straight to your inventory.

Stats: Defense 6, Attack Speed Level 2, Fortification I and Aegis I Abyss Gears pre-slotted

Defense 6 is a strong shield value for the Hernand region, and Attack Speed Level 2 makes it one of the better early shields for builds that lean on fast combos. Aegis I reduces guarded damage intake, making it genuinely useful for shield build players.

Tips for Exploring the Ruins

Clear enemies floor by floor before looting. Icemoor Castle has patrolling enemies on multiple levels. Fighting while navigating the upper levels can knock you off broken ledges, which is dangerous given the height difference between floors. Clear each section before moving on.

Get the loot before or after the boss — both work. You can collect all the hidden items before triggering the Staglord fight, which gives you slightly better gear going into the encounter. The hidden room items do not despawn after the boss is defeated, so you can also come back after the fight.

The Rapier can fall over. If you do not see the Fallen Kingdom’s Rapier standing upright beside the barrel, check the floor of the hidden room. It sometimes falls flat and is easy to walk over. Run around the room to find it.

Bring enough healing. The cold environment plus active enemies means you take more sustained damage than in warmer regions. Stock up on Grilled Meat or Hearty Meals before entering. For cooking tips, see our how to cook the best healing food in Crimson Desert guide.
