Stonewalker Antiquum is not a boss you can just muscle through with good gear. It’s a puzzle fight wrapped in a combat encounter. The boss is covered in ancient rock armor that shrugs off almost every attack. Regular sword swings, bow shots, elemental hits — none of it matters until you trigger the core mechanic. Once you know what you’re doing though, this becomes one of the more satisfying fights in the game.

Where Is Stonewalker Antiquum — Gate of Truth Location
Stonewalker Antiquum guards the Gate of Truth in the Demeniss region. This encounter is part of the “Pillar of Light atop the Mountain” quest, which falls under the overarching “Secrets of the Ancient Ruins” storyline and the Guardian of the Ancient Ruins faction quests.
You can’t just walk up to this boss. There are steps to unlock it first.
How to Unlock the Gate of Truth
Before you can reach this fight, you need to do some groundwork:
Step 1 — Get the Constellation Helmet. You need to obtain the Constellation Helmet from the Scholastone Institute. This helmet is required to access the Tariv Sorcerers Faction Quests in Demeniss.
Step 2 — Complete the Tariv Sorcerers Faction Quests. Once you have the helmet, you can interact with the Tariv Sorcerers in Demeniss. These quests have you observe the constellations of the Stones of Time and Sheltering Rocks. Completing this constellation work is what opens the Gate of Truth.
Step 3 — Follow the “Pillar of Light atop the Mountain” quest marker. After the seal breaks, a massive pillar of light erupts from the summit of the Kingshield Mountains. Head toward the Gate of Truth at the top and you’ll find Stonewalker Antiquum waiting.
Make sure your inventory has plenty of recovery items and Palmar Pills before going in. You’ll want your Spirit topped up for this fight since Axiom Force is the key mechanic.
Understanding Why Normal Attacks Don’t Work
A lot of players bounce off this boss because they go in swinging and barely see any health drop. That’s by design. Stonewalker Antiquum’s body is classed as fortified stone armor — slashing and piercing attacks do almost nothing against it. The boss is functionally invulnerable to standard combat unless you break through its defenses the right way.
The only weak point is the glowing red eye. That’s your entire target throughout this fight. Everything else is just window dressing.
Phase 1 — How to Beat Stonewalker Antiquum
Dodge the Lasers First
When the fight starts, Stonewalker Antiquum keeps its distance and fires laser beams at you. Watch for the red light charging up in the boss’s eye area. When you hear a high-pitched mechanical whine, that’s your cue to roll.
Important: don’t roll too early. The laser tracks your movement. Wait for the sound cue, then dodge. This timing takes a little practice but becomes very readable once you’ve seen it a couple of times.
Pull the Eye with Axiom Force
When Stonewalker Antiquum pauses between attacks, that’s your window. Activate Axiom Force (L3) and aim directly at the glowing red eye. Once the etheric chain connects, hold L2 and pull back on the Right Stick to yank the eye out.
The moment you pull the eye free, the boss deactivates. It splits apart into multiple hovering and grounded rock fragments and becomes fully vulnerable. All that stone armor stops mattering.
Deal Damage During the Stun Window
Move to the central core fragment and go in hard. Spam R2 for your heaviest attacks. When your stamina gets down to around 25%, switch to Turning Slash (R1 + R2) to squeeze out extra damage before the boss recovers. Keep hitting until Stonewalker Antiquum starts to reform.
Once it gets back up, reset to dodging lasers and wait for the next eye-pull opportunity. Repeat the cycle.

Phase 2 — The Head Flies Up
This is where a lot of players get caught off guard. Right after you bring Stonewalker Antiquum’s health to zero in Phase 1, the fight isn’t over. The boss’s head detaches and flies upward, making it much harder to reach and hit.
Don’t panic. This phase is shorter than Phase 1 and the mechanic is the same.
Pull the Floating Eye Again
As soon as the head rises, use Axiom Force again and grab the eye from the floating head. Pull it out the same way — L2 + Right Stick. This brings the head crashing down to the ground.
Once it lands, it’s exposed. Walk up and keep attacking it until it’s dead. That’s the end of the fight.
Watch the Arena Gears
The main danger in Phase 2 is not the boss itself — it’s the gears scattered around the arena that periodically shoot lasers. Keep moving between attacks and stay aware of where the gears are pointing. Maintain enough distance to see both the boss head on the ground and the gear fire lines so you’re not caught standing still.
The key is staying calm. Phase 2 feels more frantic visually but the actual gameplay is simpler than Phase 1.
Stonewalker Antiquum Attack List
Laser Beam (Phase 1) — Charges a red light in the eye area then fires a high-velocity beam. Wait for the sound cue before rolling to avoid the tracking.
Ground Slam — If you get too close while the boss is upright, it can slam the ground. Stay at mid-range during Phase 1 to avoid this.
Detached Head Hover (Phase 2) — The head flies up and becomes hard to reach. Use Axiom Force immediately on the eye to bring it down.
Gear Lasers (Phase 2) — The arena gears fire laser beams periodically. Keep moving and don’t stand still after landing attacks.
Tips Before You Go In
Bring Palmar Pills. Axiom Force requires Spirit. If your Spirit bar runs out at the wrong moment, you can’t pull the eye and the fight gets much harder. Stock enough Palmar Pills to keep Spirit up throughout both phases.

Don’t greedy attack after the stun ends. When Stonewalker Antiquum starts reforming, back off. Trying to squeeze in extra hits during the recovery animation will get you hit by the reassembly.
Stonewalker Antiquum Rewards
Beating this boss gives you three things:
Earthsplitter — A greataxe exclusive to Oongka. This is Stonewalker Antiquum’s own weapon, etched with ancient patterns. It has an attack range of 16–43 with 3 upgrade sockets. Solid weapon for Oongka builds.
Abyss Artifact — Use this to upgrade Kliff’s core stats like health, stamina, and spirit. Every major boss drops one.
Power Core — A random Power Core usable for Kuku upgrades at the Kilnden Workshop. Pick it up with Axiom Force after the fight and seal it in your Kuku Pot.
