TL;DR
- T’rukan is fought in the True Strength quest (Quest 129), Chapter 9, in Serpent Marsh, South Demeniss
- He has one HP bar but hits so hard he can one-shot you without enough Damage Reduction
- You need at minimum Health Skill Level 6 (750 HP) and refinement level 6 gear before this fight
- Sleep Arrows are the easiest cheese — one arrow collapses him for free damage, two can end the fight
- When a spectral figure appears behind him, dodge three times in a row — those hits come in bursts of three
- When T’rukan crouches low, he’s about to sweep kick — dodge immediately
- Reward: Wooden Mask of Lost Justice (Head Armor) + Wanderer of Faith + blue artifact from the arena gate

Where to Find T’rukan the Ascended
T’rukan the Ascended is a main story boss in Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert (sub-chapter: Six Pensive Statues and the Evil Spirit). The quest is called “True Strength” (Quest 129).
You’ll find him in Serpent Marsh, South Demeniss. The fight triggers automatically with a cutscene when you return to the location of the first pensive statue after completing the Path of the Disciple quest.
He wears a leopard mask and fights entirely with his bare hands and feet. One HP bar, but don’t let that fool you — he hits fast enough to kill you mid-combo before you can react.

How to Prepare for T’rukan the Ascended
Health — Level 6 minimum (750 HP). T’rukan can one-shot you without adequate Damage Reduction. 750 HP is the floor for surviving his heavier attacks. If you’re dying in a single hit, your Health is too low. Check our guide on how to get max health in Crimson Desert.
Gear — Refinement Level 6 or higher. Damage Reduction is the most important stat for this fight, more so than raw Health. Upgrade your armor before entering. Use the Anvil and Grindstone for additional stat bonuses on top of refinement. See our guide on how to reinforce equipment in Crimson Desert.
Weapon — Use the Tauria Curved Sword. This weapon dropped by Crowcaller in Chapter 5. Its heavy attacks deal high stagger per hit, which is how you create openings against T’rukan. Pair it with the Nature’s Echo skill for doubled damage output on heavy attacks.
Stamina — Level 5 or higher. You need to dodge constantly in this fight. Make sure your Stamina pool can handle at least three consecutive dodges without running dry. See our max stamina guide.
Food — bring 100-200 healing items. Standard Grilled Meat (140 HP, 1 raw meat) works well. For this fight specifically, Chewy Rice Cakes from Ronnie’s shop at Greymane Camp are recommended — buy them daily before the fight. Hearty Soups are also great as they restore both Health and Spirit simultaneously. T’rukan hits so hard you’ll sometimes need 2-3 meals between his attack windows. See our best healing food guide.
Palmar Pills — bring several. This fight will likely kill you at least once. A Palmar Pill lets you revive on the spot and continue. See how to get and use Palmar Pills.
Sleep Arrow Cheese — Easiest Way to Beat T’rukan
Before anything else, know this: T’rukan is extremely susceptible to Sleep Arrows.
One Sleep Arrow will cause him to collapse completely to the ground, leaving him vulnerable to free damage. Two well-placed Sleep Arrows can end the entire fight without engaging in conventional combat at all.
If you’re struggling with the standard fight, stock up on Sleep Arrows before the quest and use them as soon as you enter the arena. This is a fully legitimate strategy and many players use it.

Attack Pattern to Use Against T’rukan
If you’re fighting T’rukan conventionally, patience is everything. He punishes aggression and greed harder than almost any boss in the game.
Core loop:
- Lock on and maintain a safe mid-range distance — close enough that he won’t throw explosives, but far enough to dodge his fists.
- Wait for T’rukan to finish an attack sequence. Don’t interrupt mid-combo.
- After his attack ends, hit him with 1-2 strikes only — Heavy Attack (R2 / RT) or a Force Palm — then immediately back off.
- Repeat. Do not go for full combos. His follow-ups come fast enough to kill you mid-string.
- Use Blinding Flash (L1+R1 / LB+RB / Ctrl+Left Click) to stun him and then follow with a Blinding Flash Finisher (hold R2 after entering Blinding Flash). This is your safest source of consistent damage.
- Use Forward Slash combos (R1+R2 / RB+RT) when he’s stunned.
- Use Focus (L3+R3 / LS+RS) to slow time and watch for his attacks more clearly, regenerating Spirit in the process.
- Never block. T’rukan’s attacks break through stamina and go through shields. Dodge is your only defensive option.
- Dodge sideways, never backward. He has good tracking on retreating targets.
T’rukan Attack Patterns — Full Breakdown and How to Counter Them
Reading His Body Language
T’rukan crouching low = he’s about to unleash a wide, long-distance sweeping kick. Dodge immediately when you see this animation. Do not wait.
A large spectral figure appearing behind T’rukan = his next attacks will be exceptionally hard-hitting and will come in a burst of three consecutive strikes. You must dodge three times in a row to avoid all of them. Do not try to block any of these — they go straight through your shield.
Full Move List
Purple Bolt Combo — T’rukan fires two purple energy bolts from his hand with weak tracking. Dodge these sideways as they appear. He follows immediately with either a lock-on kick or a palm strike — dodge that too.
Ground Explosive — If you’re too far away, T’rukan plants an explosive under your feet. Stay at a medium distance to avoid triggering this. Don’t run away from him.
Unarmed Flurry — T’rukan unleashes a rapid chain of punches and kicks. Dodge each hit — don’t try to block. Back off and wait for the chain to end before counterattacking.
Spectral Burst Barrage — When the spectral figure appears behind him, T’rukan fires hard-hitting blasts. Dodge three times consecutively, left or right — not backward. After the third hit, you have a brief counter window.
30% Health — More Erratic Attacks — When T’rukan drops below 30% HP, his attack patterns become slightly less predictable. Stay disciplined, keep dodging, and don’t get greedy with hits just because the fight is almost over.
What Do You Get for Beating T’rukan?
Defeating T’rukan completes the True Strength quest and rewards:
- Wooden Mask of Lost Justice — Head Armor
- Wanderer of Faith — item reward
- Blue artifact — walk to the gate in the boss arena after the fight to collect it
After the fight, head to the top of the mountain to the Jijeong Temple Pagoda. Enter the Abyss Gate inside, go to the upper floor, and approach the platform. Kliff will meditate, completing the Six Pensive Statues and the Evil Spirit sub-chapter of Chapter 9.
