TL;DR
- Path of Serpents is in Snakehead Valley, reached via the Bowsprit Cape Abyss cube in southeast Hernand
- The grid puzzle uses Axiom Force to rotate 6 platforms and route blue power to both wall batteries
- Grab the Abyss Chest near the landing point before starting the puzzle
- After solving, enter the central chamber, climb the cog wall, and use Force Palm while climbing to activate it
- Ride the wind turbine upward with Wings (Square / X / Spacebar) to claim the Abyss Artifact
- After finishing, head east through the triangle force gate for more loot
How to Reach the Path of Serpents in Crimson Desert
The Path of Serpents isn’t accessed by walking — you get there through the Bowsprit Cape Abyss cube in southeast Hernand, south of the Bay of Abundance.
Look for a crashed metallic Abyss structure near the Bowsprit Cape Hollow cave. You need to slot four batteries (three standard ones and one Square Battery floating high above the cube) to power it back up. Once all batteries are slotted and locked in with Force Palm, the cube ascends into the Abyss.
During the flight, a CPU will slide loose mid-ascent. Grab it with Axiom Force, drag it back into its slot, and Force Palm it into place. The cube will then finish climbing and deposit you in Snakehead Valley — the Path of Serpents area.
See our Bowsprit Cape puzzle solution for the full step-by-step on getting here.
Before you touch the grid puzzle, look for a small Abyss Chest near the landing point. Grab it first — it’s easy to miss once you’re focused on the puzzle.

What Is the Path of Serpents Puzzle?
The Path of Serpents is a grid rotation puzzle. The room has a 5×5 grid of platforms, each with a directional light track. A blue power current enters from one point and needs to connect all the way to two batteries — one on the left wall, one on the right wall.
You rotate the relevant platforms using Axiom Force until the blue light forms a continuous path to both batteries. Most platforms are already in the correct position. You only need to adjust six of them.
Controls for rotating platforms:
- Activate Axiom Force: L3 / LS / TAB (PC)
- Rotate clockwise/counter-clockwise: D-Pad or Left Stick

Path of Serpents Puzzle Solution — All 6 Steps
Platforms are referenced by Column (left to right) and Row (top to bottom).
Step 1 — Column 3, Row 1 (Starting Platform) At the starting platform where the blue light originates. Rotate it clockwise until the blue light connects to the pathway on the right.
Step 2 — Column 4, Row 4 Follow the light to where it ends. Rotate this platform counter-clockwise to redirect the light path to the left.
Step 3 — Column 3, Row 2 The platform directly above the starting platform is unlit. Rotate it clockwise until it lights up the remaining platforms on the left side.
Step 4 — Column 1, Row 3 Rotate this platform clockwise until the line connects all the way to the tower on the left wall. This powers up the left battery.
Step 5 — Column 3, Row 5 Rotate this platform clockwise until it lights up two platforms on the right and connects the remaining platforms on the left simultaneously.
Step 6 — Column 5, Row 3 Rotate this platform counter-clockwise until the path leads all the way to the battery on the right wall. This powers up the right battery.
Both batteries are now active.

How to Get the Abyss Artifact
With both wall batteries powered, the central chamber opens. Head inside.
Watch out for the lasers. They run across the floor of the chamber and deal continuous damage if you walk through them. Time your movement carefully to pass between the beams.
Inside the chamber, find the central circular object. Climb the wall at it and use Force Palm (R3 / RS / Right Click) while still climbing to activate it. This powers on a wind turbine below.
Step onto the wind current from the turbine. Press Square / X / Spacebar to open your Wings and ride the current upward.
At the top, grab the Abyss Artifact.
What to Do After the Path of Serpents
Once you have the Abyss Artifact, don’t leave immediately.
Head east and pass through the triangle force gate. Grab the floating device with Axiom Force and use the D-Pad to rotate it until it finds the sweet spot (you’ll hear an audio cue and see it glow). This opens the bridge forward.
Cross the bridge and head downward toward the tree. There’s a chest here containing bismuth ore — worth grabbing before you move on.
Troubleshooting the Path of Serpents Puzzle
- Platform won’t rotate — make sure you’re using Axiom Force (L3 / LS / TAB), not Force Palm. They’re easy to mix up.
- Blue light doesn’t reach a battery — one of the 6 platforms is still slightly off. Go back to Step 1 and recheck each one in order.
- Took damage in the central chamber — that’s the laser floor. Move between beam gaps rather than through them.
- Force Palm on the cog not working — you must be actively climbing the wall when you press Force Palm. Don’t let go of the wall first.
- Fell out of the cube before arriving — the cube resets back to Bowsprit Cape. You’ll need to slot all four batteries again from the start.
