TL;DR
- The Vault of Vengeance is part of the Path of Providence Abyss chain. You access it through the Secret Garden.
- You need Focused Shot (Marksmanship Lv 2 + Focus Lv 2) before entering. Don’t skip this.
- Use Axiom Force to place Power Cores on stone cubes to unlock the first door.
- Shoot yellow panels with arrows to open the vault door. Use Nature’s Grasp to pull it open.
- Use Focused Shot to mark and fire at all 4 wall nodes at once inside the laser room.
- Pick up the Golden Sword, drop down, navigate the laser hallway, slot the battery, and use Force Palm on the glowing panel.
- Climb the wall to collect your Abyss Artifact. The Courtyard of Precision is next.
The Vault of Vengeance is one of the more demanding puzzles in Crimson Desert. Most players get stuck here because they try to use Axiom Force and Force Palm like every other Abyss area — but this one heavily relies on Focused Shot and your Bow instead.
This guide covers every step, including the parts other guides skip. We’ll also tell you where to find the Vault and what comes next on the Path of Providence.
Where to Find the Vault of Vengeance in Crimson Desert
The Vault of Vengeance is part of the Path of Providence Abyss chain. It’s the fourth room in the chain, and you can only reach it by completing the Secret Garden challenge first.
The full Path of Providence order is: Root’s End → Precipice of Truth → Secret Garden → Vault of Vengeance → Courtyard of Precision → Altar of Solitude → Ice Cradle.
To start the chain, you need the Flight ability, which you unlock during the main story. Once you have it, open your map and switch the layer to show Abyss icons. Look for the Ethereal Pathway Abyss Nexus and teleport there.
You’ll also want plenty of arrows before you begin. The Vault, Secret Garden, and Courtyard of Precision all use them. Running out mid-puzzle is frustrating.
What You Need Before You Start
Focused Shot is essential. You cannot complete the laser room section properly without it.
To unlock Focused Shot, you need:
- Marksmanship Level 2
- Focus Level 2
It’s on the green/spirit side of the skill tree. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, check our guide on how to get skill points in Crimson Desert first. Also make sure you understand how to use Axiom Force, as you’ll need it throughout.
A quick tip: yellow always means interactable inside any Abyss area. If you see a yellow node, panel, or target, hit it with an arrow, sword, or Axiom Force. Keep that rule in mind as you go.
How to Complete the Vault of Vengeance Puzzle in Crimson Desert
Step 1 – Place the Power Cores to Open the First Door
The entrance to the Vault is blocked by a locked door.
On both sides of the stone cubes near the door, you’ll find floating Power Cores. Use Axiom Force to pick them up and place them onto the stone cubes. Both cubes activate, and the door opens.
Step 2 – Shoot the Yellow Panels to Enter the Vault
Walk through the entrance. You’ll see two glowing yellow circular panels — one on each side of the locked vault door.
Equip your Bow. Hold L2 to draw, then release to fire. Hit both yellow panels in quick succession. Once both turn blue, walk between them and use Nature’s Grasp (Circle + Triangle on PS5 / B + Y on Xbox) to pull the door open.
Inside, you’ll also find a chest with loot. The drops can vary between playthroughs, so check it before moving on.
Step 3 – Use Focused Shot to Hit All 4 Wall Nodes at Once (Laser Room)
This is the hardest part of the puzzle. The room is full of blue lasers and four yellow target nodes — one on each pillar along the walls.
You need to hit all four nodes almost simultaneously. That’s why Focused Shot is required.
Here’s exactly how:
- Equip your Bow and hold L2 to aim.
- Hold L3 + R3 together to activate Focused Shot. Time slows down slightly.
- Aim at each yellow node and press R1 to mark it red.
- Mark all four, then release your buttons.
All four arrows fire at once. Every node turns blue and the lasers deactivate.
Walk to the center of the room and pick up the Golden Sword. It has 16 attack and level 1 attack speed — decent stats on paper, but it has no Abyss Gear mods. It’s effectively vendor trash. Step 4 – Drop Down and Cross the Laser Hallway
Picking up the Golden Sword lowers the platform beneath you. Drop down.
You’ll enter a hallway with moving laser traps. There are two ways through:
Option 1 – Time it. Watch the lasers sweep back and forth. When a gap opens, sprint and slide through. Be patient.
Option 2 – Triple jump skip. Use Aerial Force mid-air twice to perform a triple jump. This lets you reach the upper platforms completely, bypassing the lasers. It’s faster and avoids damage entirely if you pull it off.

At the end of the hallway, you’ll find a battery and a gear mechanism.
Step 5 – Slot the Battery and Use Force Palm
Use Axiom Force to grab the battery. Use Force Palm to push it into its slot on the wall.
A teleporter activates. Stand on it. You’ll spawn in the final section of the puzzle.
Here, move the second battery into its wall slot using Axiom Force, then hit the glowing wall panel with Force Palm. The main cog powers up.
Climb up onto the gear. While hanging on it, use Force Palm on the center of the gear to fully complete the puzzle.
Step 6 – Collect Your Abyss Artifact
Climb the wall above the gear. At the top you’ll find:
- An Abyss Artifact — one of seven available in the Path of Providence chain
- An Abyss Gate leading to the Courtyard of Precision

What Comes Next – Courtyard of Precision and Lightning Surge
The Courtyard of Precision is directly connected to the Vault of Vengeance via the Abyss Gate you just unlocked.
The Courtyard uses the same Focused Shot mechanic — but harder. There are multiple sets of yellow bullseye targets, some of which you need to hit while floating in mid-air on air currents. Ignore any blue targets. Only mark and shoot the yellow ones.
Completing the Courtyard of Precision earns you the Lightning Surge ability. This is an electric field that damages nearby enemies and anyone who steps into its radius. Tips for the Vault of Vengeance
Upgrade your bow’s draw speed. A faster draw makes the two-panel shot at the door much easier without Focused Shot activated.
Bring plenty of arrows. Three Abyss rooms in a row — Secret Garden, Vault, and Courtyard — all use bow mechanics. Stock up before entering the chain.
Yellow = interactable. Anywhere in the Abyss, if a node or panel glows yellow, interact with it. This applies throughout all of Crimson Desert’s Abyss content.
