TL;DR

  • Titan is unlocked after completing the Ancient Barrier Faction Quest and the “The Clue for Chaos” quest from the Stjar Clan in Skallcove
  • He has three phases — two standard phases, then Gigantified Titan
  • Core fight cycle: dodge → wait → attack → retreat — never rush him
  • Bring 100+ Grilled Meat, Palmar Pills, and heavy upgraded armor
  • Never parry — Titan’s attacks are unblockable. Dodge only
  • Gigantified Titan: attack exposed skin on his fist, not the armored side
  • If you die during Gigantified Titan, hit Retry — you restart from that phase, not Phase 1
  • Rewards: Reckoning Two-Handed Spear (exceptional) and Lightning Bolt Plate Armor (niche but useful)

You just solved the storm-lashed lightning puzzle on Windsong Peaks. Now comes the reward: fighting an actual god.

Titan is one of the biggest and most demanding boss fights in Pailune. He doesn’t attack fast, but every single hit hurts, and he has three phases — including a Gigantified form that completely changes the fight mechanics.

Here’s how to prepare and how to beat every phase.

How to Unlock the Titan Boss Fight

To reach Titan, you need to complete enough Pailune Faction Quests to unlock “The Jackal’s Scheme” from the Stjar Clan in Skallcove. After that, start “The Clue for Chaos” from the same location, which leads into the Ancient Barrier puzzle quest.

Once you’ve activated the broken ancient lightning device and triggered the cutscene, the path to the Windsong Peaks opens and Titan awaits.

Full details on the puzzle are in our Ancient Barrier walkthrough.

What to Bring Before Fighting Titan

This is a hard, multi-phase fight in a cold environment. Go in prepared.

100+ Grilled Meat / Braised Meat / Meat Skewers — You will take damage in this fight. The goal isn’t to avoid every hit — it’s to outheal the damage. You can eat every two seconds during combat without interrupting your attacks. Stack food and use it constantly.

Palmar Pills — Bring several. If you die during Gigantified Titan specifically, you can hit Retry and start from that phase rather than going all the way back to Phase 1.

Turning Slash (R1+R2) — Your best offensive skill here. You’re immune during the animation and the damage is strong. This is your primary attack throughout all three phases.

Blinding Flash Finisher (L1+R1+R2) — Your secondary damage tool. Pair it with Turning Slash for your full attack window after Titan finishes a combo.

Upgraded heavy armor — Refine your armor to levels 4-7 at the blacksmith before heading up. The defense boost makes a real difference in a fight this long. See our guide on how to reinforce equipment in Crimson Desert.

Stamina investment — Stamina powers everything here: dodging Phase 1 and Phase 2, and both climbing and R2 spam during Gigantified Titan. If your stamina tree is underleveled, invest before this fight.

Note: The Pailune cold environment slows your stamina regen. Landing Perfect Dodges is one of the best ways to recover stamina mid-fight without backing off. See our ice resistance guide for more on managing the climate penalty.

How to Beat Titan — Phase 1

Titan is a monster boss. Never try to parry him — his attacks are unblockable. Dodge everything.

Your core combat cycle for the entire fight is: dodge → wait → attack → retreat. Titan punishes aggression hard. Don’t try to overwhelm him. Hit him in his openings and back off.

When to attack: Only strike when Titan is charging up a slow attack or resting between his own combos. Two or three hits, then get out.

Attacks to watch for:

  • Foot stomps — happens if you stay too close for too long. Roll away.
  • Spear lightning attacks — dodge roll to evade. He winds up before releasing them so you have time to react.

Your attack loop: Turning Slash → Focus to recover Spirit → Blinding Flash Finisher → repeat. Keep up this cycle until his blue health bar drains.

One important note: don’t heal during a combo. Titan’s attacks will interrupt your healing animation if he’s mid-string. Wait for him to finish swinging, then eat while he pauses.

Watch out for fake openings too. Titan sometimes uses slow wind-up animations that look like a break but are actually the start of another attack. Wait a beat before committing to an attack window.

How to Beat Titan — Phase 2

The attack pattern stays the same: Turning Slash, Blinding Flash Finisher, Focus, repeat. Titan’s combos are still slow and readable.

New attacks in Phase 2:

  • Arena-wide lightning strike — This is his big dangerous move. Titan becomes temporarily invulnerable. Blue glowing zones appear on the ground showing where lightning will land. Spam dodge and avoid every glowing blue area. Spam healing at the same time to recover any hits you take. Don’t try to attack during this — just survive it.

Titan’s general patterns are still manageable if you stick to the dodge-and-punish cycle from Phase 1. Don’t change your approach, just adapt to the new lightning move.

How to Beat Gigantified Titan

This is the surprise third phase. Despite appearing to be a two-phase fight, Titan transforms into a massive Gigantified form after Phase 2.

If you die here, hit Retry. You’ll restart directly from Gigantified Titan — not from Phase 1. Use your Palmar Pills to revive on the spot if you go down close to a kill.

There are two ways to beat this phase:

Method 1 — Attack His Exposed Fist (Recommended)

This is the safer and more reliable method, especially on the day-one build.

  • Dodge Gigantified Titan’s spear attacks until he slams his fist on the floor
  • Move around the armored side of his fist to the side with exposed skin
  • Attack the exposed skin — this is the only way to deal damage in this phase
  • Use R2 attacks and Turning Slash — both deal strong damage and will eventually stun him
  • Once stunned, land a few more free hits before he recovers
  • Repeat until he’s dead

Do not waste time attacking the armored side of his fist. It takes no damage.

Method 2 — Climb to His Neck Weakspot (Advanced, Buggy)

This method is faster if it works, but the climbing mechanic is unreliable on the day-one build.

  • When Gigantified Titan slams his fist on the floor, climb his gauntlet and hold on with R2
  • Once his arm stabilizes in the air, move to his left arm and grip it
  • Use Jump + Triple Force Palm and Flight to reach his back
  • On the back of his neck, there is a weakspot covered in chains
  • Break the chains and stab the weakspot — this ends the fight immediately

If the climbing bugs out on you, fall back to Method 1 and attack his exposed fist instead. The result is the same; it just takes longer.

Titan Rewards

Defeating Titan gives you two items:

Reckoning Two-Handed Spear — This is the standout reward. It’s a Level 3 Two-Handed Weapon with excellent damage and attack speed. It has 5 Abyss Gear Slots and comes with Lightning God’s Affliction — a passive that calls down lightning on any enemy you successfully parry with L1. Exceptional weapon well worth using.

Lightning Bolt Plate Armor — The weaker reward. It has a base Defense of 14, cannot be upgraded, and has no Abyss Gear slots. However, it comes with Lightning Resistance Level 7, which makes it the best-in-slot armor specifically for fighting lightning-based enemies. Keep it for those encounters but don’t rely on it as your main armor.
