Destiny 2 Chronologs are a currency that lets you unlock rewards from old seasonal passes you missed. They were introduced with the Ash and Iron update and continue into Monument of Triumph in 2026. What Are Chronologs in Destiny 2
Chronologs are a dedicated currency for unlocking items from previous season passes. Instead of losing old cosmetics and gear permanently, you can now spend Chronologs at the Monument to Seasons Past in the Tower to claim them.
The archive covers content all the way back to Season of the Undying during Shadowkeep. Every archived season pass includes armor, armor ornaments, Exotic weapons, emotes, shaders, and more. If you missed a season’s pass rewards, this is how you catch up.
Chronologs appear directly in your currency UI as of Monument of Triumph. They no longer take an inventory slot — you can check your balance at a glance on your character screen alongside Glimmer and Silver.
How to Get Chronologs in Destiny 2 — All Sources
Triumphant Rewards Pass (Main Source)
The Triumphant Rewards Pass added with Monument of Triumph is the largest single source of Chronologs. It has no expiry date. It will not be removed. It’s the final rewards pass Bungie will ever make for Destiny 2.
- Free track: significantly fewer Chronologs — roughly half the paid amount
- Paid track (Triumphant Rewards Pass): up to 3,500 Chronologs if you reach Rank 110
Progression on the pass comes from gaining experience across any activity. Play the game and the pass levels up.
Previous passes (Ash and Iron, Lawless) are also on the Monument to Seasons Past as of Update 9.7.0. If you have unclaimed rewards from those passes, check the Wayback Machine first — rewards you earned but never claimed are free. The Monument only costs Chronologs for items you never unlocked.
Seasonal Hub Weekly Rewards (300 Chronologs Per Week)
Open your Director and click the Seasonal Hub in the bottom row. On Rank 19 of the Weekly Rewards track, you can claim 300 Chronologs. This resets every Tuesday at 12 PM EDT.
Reach Rank 19 by completing your Daily Objectives and Weekly Objectives inside the Seasonal Hub. These are straightforward — finish standard activities, complete bounties, play across the Portal. Most active players hit Rank 19 well before the weekly reset.
300 Chronologs per week adds up fast. Over a month that’s 1,200 extra Chronologs just from this source alone, without touching the Rewards Pass.
Vanguard Alerts Playlist (200 Chronologs Per Week)
Inside the Seasonal Hub, click Vanguard Alerts. Select Fireteam Vanguard Alert Quickplay from the top-left. Complete three activities in this playlist per week to earn 200 Chronologs.
This also resets every Tuesday at 12 PM EDT. It stacks on top of the Hub weekly rewards. If you do both sources every week, that’s 500 Chronologs per week from repeatable free play alone.
Archived Pass Bonuses (Silver Required)
Purchasing certain archived passes from the Monument to Seasons Past can grant bonus Chronologs immediately. This costs Silver. It’s worth considering if you’re trying to complete a specific collection quickly, but it’s not required. All Chronologs sources listed above are free to play.
How Many Chronologs Can You Earn Per Season
Here’s a rough breakdown of what’s available from each repeatable source in a typical active season:
- Triumphant Rewards Pass (paid, Rank 110): up to 3,500 Chronologs total
- Seasonal Hub weekly (Rank 19): 300 per week
- Vanguard Alerts weekly (3 activities): 200 per week
- Combined weekly free total: 500 Chronologs per week
Each item in the Monument to Seasons Past costs between 100 and 300 Chronologs depending on its rarity and placement in the original pass. Completing an entire old season’s pass worth of items costs more than 3,000 Chronologs. You cannot buy your way past the cap with real money. Chronologs cannot be purchased directly with Silver or real-world currency.
Spend wisely. You will run out faster than you expect if you’re chasing a full old season.
Where to Spend Chronologs in Destiny 2
Monument to Seasons Past (Tower)
The Monument to Seasons Past sits in the Tower Courtyard in front of Banshee-44, next to the Monument to Lost Lights. Interact with it to browse every archived season pass.
Select a season, find the item you want, and spend Chronologs to claim it. Items you already own will show as free or discounted. Items you never unlocked cost the full amount.
This is the best use of Chronologs. Cosmetics, Exotic weapons, and armor ornaments from old seasons cannot be obtained any other way.
Zavala’s Weekly Arsenal Buyback
As of Monument of Triumph, Zavala’s weekly Arsenal Credit buyback now costs Chronologs instead of Bright Dust. This is a change most guides haven’t covered. If you were spending Bright Dust at Zavala before, that option is gone. Chronologs are the currency now.
This is a decent use if you need specific Vanguard weapons, but don’t prioritize it over old season pass cosmetics you actually want.
Materials Exchange
The Monument also lets you exchange Chronologs for materials. Available options include Ascendant Shards, Deepsight Harmonizers, and similar upgrade resources. Each material type is capped at five purchases per season.
Only spend Chronologs on materials if you have everything you want from old passes. The cap keeps this from being an infinite farm anyway.
What NOT to Spend Chronologs On
Not every Chronolog purchase is worth it. Avoid these:
- Strange Coins: not worth it. Strange Coins drop easily from the Portal. Spending Chronologs on them is a bad exchange rate.
- Exotic Engrams: too random. You have no control over what you get. Better uses exist.
- Enhancement Prisms: available through normal play. Don’t burn Chronologs on something farmable elsewhere.
- Eververse Engrams: hit or miss. Unless you’re specifically chasing an Eververse item you know is in the pool, skip these.
Save Chronologs for the Monument to Seasons Past first. That’s the entire reason the currency exists.
Destiny 2 Chronologs — Tips for Farming Efficiently in 2026
Do your Seasonal Hub objectives every week. Rank 19 for 300 Chronologs is the easiest repeatable source in the game. Don’t skip Tuesday resets.
Run three Vanguard Alerts every week. It’s 200 free Chronologs for about 30 minutes of play. Stack it with the Hub rewards for 500 per week without touching the pass.
Check the Wayback Machine before spending at the Monument. The Wayback Machine lets you claim rewards you earned but never collected — those are free. Only the Monument costs Chronologs. Don’t accidentally pay for something you already earned.
Prioritize old Exotic weapons and ornaments first. These are the hardest items to obtain through any other method. Materials can wait.
Don’t panic-spend. The Triumphant Rewards Pass has no expiry date. Chronologs will keep accumulating as long as you play. There’s no FOMO timer forcing you to rush.
Chronologs and the Seasonal Archive — What Seasons Are Available
The Monument to Seasons Past covers Destiny 2 season passes from Season of the Undying onward. That’s years of archived cosmetics, weapons, and gear. With Monument of Triumph, the Ash and Iron and Lawless passes were added to the monument as well.
The Triumphant Rewards Pass itself is not available at the Monument — because it has no end date, it stays permanently in the Rewards Pass screen instead.
If you’re a returning player who missed multiple seasons, make a list of priority items before you start spending. The archive is deep and the Chronolog cost adds up quickly if you try to buy everything at once.
