The Destiny 2 giant ball in the Tower is one of the game’s oldest Easter eggs. You kick four colored balls — purple, green, black, and blue — to specific spots around the Tower Courtyard. Each delivery sets off fireworks, and after the fourth, a massive Traveler-shaped ball spawns for everyone in the instance to kick around. In 2026, completing this also unlocks the Traveler’s Manifestation Triumph.
- All four balls spawn on a pile of wooden pallets above the Tower Courtyard, left of the Postmaster stairs
- Each ball must be kicked to a different location — fireworks confirm each success
- The sequence is: purple → green → black → blue
- If any ball falls off the Tower, it respawns in its current color — you don’t restart from the beginning
- After all four deliveries, the giant Traveler ball spawns at the ball’s original location
- Completing this puzzle in 2026 unlocks the Traveler’s Manifestation Triumph
- Other players in your Tower instance can interfere — the ball is very bouncy and hard to control
Where to Find the Ball in the Destiny 2 Tower
When you spawn into the Tower, you land in the Courtyard. From your spawn point, look for the stairs to the left of the Postmaster. Go up those stairs to reach the upper area of the Courtyard.
Look for a pile of wooden pallets. A purple ball sits on top of them. This is your starting point for the entire puzzle. All four balls spawn here in sequence — you return to this same spot after each delivery.
How to Spawn the Giant Traveler Ball — Step by Step
Step 1: Purple Ball — Kick It to the Circle on the Second Floor
Pick up the purple ball by walking into it and start kicking it along the upper balcony. Head to the second floor in the top-right area of the Courtyard. You’re looking for the large circle drawn on the floor — this is the same balcony where Lord Saladin stands during Iron Banner events.
Kick the purple ball into the circle. Fireworks will go off to confirm you’ve done it right. The ball disappears.
Return to the wooden pallets where you started. A green ball has appeared in place of the purple one.
Step 2: Green Ball — Kick It Down the Stairs Near Eververse

The green ball needs to travel down to the main floor of the Courtyard. Kick it off the upper level and follow it down.
Your target is the small stairwell to the left of the Eververse Store, just behind it facing toward the Cayde-6 monument. Kick the green ball down into that stairwell. A lone guard stands on the landing below — use them as a landmark. Fireworks will confirm success.
This is one of the trickier deliveries. The ball is bouncy and the stairwell is narrow. Take your time. If it falls off the Tower entirely, it respawns as a green ball at the pallet location.
Return to the pallets. A black ball is now waiting.
Step 3: Black Ball — Kick It Up to the Red Flag Platform

The black ball needs to go up, not down. Kick it toward the back-left area above where Guardians spawn in. You’re heading for the gantry platform above the starting area — look for the large red flag and two white chevron markings on the floor.
Get the ball to the end of the gantry, past the chevrons, and kick it over the railing at the far edge. Fireworks confirm you’ve done it correctly.
This step catches most players out. The target isn’t the platform itself — you need to kick the ball over the railing at the end of the gantry. The fireworks won’t fire until the ball goes over that edge.
Head back to the pallets. The blue ball is waiting.
Step 4: Blue Ball — Kick It Between the Tenet Podiums

The blue ball is the final step. Kick it off the upper level down to the main Courtyard floor.
Your target is the center of the Courtyard, specifically between the Tenet podiums — the four vendor stands where you spend Legendary Marks. Kick the blue ball into the open space in the middle of those podiums.
Fireworks will light up the sky over the entire Tower. A server-wide message announces that the giant ball has arrived. The Traveler’s Manifestation Triumph unlocks.
Where the Giant Traveler Ball Spawns
After the final fireworks, head back to the wooden pallets above the Courtyard — the same spot where the puzzle started. Look up. The giant ball materializes in the air above that location and floats slowly downward.
It’s much larger than the other balls and significantly lighter. It moves very slowly and floats for a long time when kicked. Every Guardian in the Tower instance can now interact with it.
The ball looks like a miniature version of the Traveler — gray and painted with the same pattern. That’s the Easter egg.
Destiny 2 Traveler’s Manifestation Triumph
In 2026, completing this puzzle unlocks the Traveler’s Manifestation Triumph. This was updated as part of Monument of Triumph to tie into the broader Triumph system. Completing it contributes toward Monument of Triumph progression.
There’s no separate step required. Kicking the blue ball between the Tenet podiums triggers the Triumph automatically along with the giant ball spawn.
Tips for the Destiny 2 Tower Ball Puzzle
The ball respawns if it falls. If any ball goes off the edge of the Tower, it respawns at the pallet location in whatever color it currently is. You don’t reset to purple. Keep this in mind — don’t panic if it falls during a tricky section.
Other players will interfere. Everyone in your Tower instance can see and kick the balls. Some players will accidentally or deliberately knock them off course. There’s no way to prevent this. If you’re struggling, try loading into the Tower at a quieter time or changing instances.
The balls are bouncier than they look. Light kicks work better than running full speed into the ball. A gentle nudge gives you more control than a full sprint.
The green ball step is the hardest. The stairwell near Eververse is tight. Get the ball to the edge of the upper level and let it fall naturally toward the stairwell entrance rather than trying to precision-kick it in.
The black ball gantry step is easy to miss. Players often stop at the platform thinking the chevrons are the target. Keep going to the end of the gantry and kick it over the railing. That’s where the trigger is.
Don’t kick the giant Traveler ball off the Tower. Once it spawns, it’s gone for good if it goes over the edge. You’ll need to repeat the entire puzzle to bring it back. It’s extremely floaty and easy to send flying.
Does the Giant Ball Do Anything Else
No. The giant Traveler ball has no gameplay function beyond the Triumph. It’s a pure Easter egg. It’s been in the game since 2017 when Destiny 2 launched. The ball puzzle and the Traveler ball itself have been a Tower tradition ever since.
It’s one of those things that brings random Guardians together in the social space. Someone will start kicking it, others join in, and eventually someone knocks it off the edge and everyone disperses. Classic Tower behavior.
