Cryogenic Coolant in Palworld is one of the most important mid-game crafting materials you will come across. It shows up in dozens of recipes — from cold-resistant armor to weapons, saddles, and base structures. The good news is it only takes two ingredients to make. The tricky part is setting up the right crafting station and farming those ingredients efficiently. This guide covers everything you need to know.
TL;DR
- Cryogenic Coolant requires 1x Aquatic Pal Fluids + 1x Ice Organ per unit.
- Unlock the recipe at Technology Level 31 for 2 Technology Points.
- You must craft it at a Production Assembly Line — regular workbenches cannot make it.
- The Assembly Line requires electricity, so you need a Power Generator and an Electric-type Pal.
- Farm Aquatic Pal Fluids from Celaray, Pengullet, and Kelpsea along coastlines.
- Farm Ice Organs from Pengullet in the Penking Alpha dungeon or the frozen north.
- You can also buy Ice Organs from the Wandering Merchant in Duneshelter for 100 Gold each.
What Is Cryogenic Coolant in Palworld?
Cryogenic Coolant is described in-game as a high-efficiency cooling medium made from components derived from Pals. It is used to regulate temperature in high-output devices. That might sound like flavour text, but it directly explains why you need it — it unlocks most of the advanced manufacturing and cold-weather gear in the game.
You cannot find Cryogenic Coolant lying around the world or looted from enemies. It is strictly a crafted item. No Pal drops it and no supply crate contains it. You have to produce it yourself.
While you are building up your base, it helps to know how to keep your Pals working properly. Check our guide on how to assign Pals to work in Palworld to make sure your production lines are staffed correctly.
Cryogenic Coolant Recipe in Palworld

The recipe is simple and stays the same every time:
- 1x Aquatic Pal Fluids
- 1x Ice Organ
- = 1x Cryogenic Coolant
It is a one-to-one craft. No hidden third ingredient. Just one fluid and one organ per unit of coolant. The catch is the station you need to make it — more on that below.
How to Unlock the Cryogenic Coolant Recipe
The Cryogenic Coolant recipe becomes available in your Technology Menu at character Level 31. It costs 2 Technology Points to unlock. Once unlocked, it stays in your crafting menu permanently — you only need to buy it once.
You will also need to have the Production Assembly Line unlocked, which sits at Technology Level 29 and costs more points to unlock. It is worth doing both as soon as you hit the right level, since Cryogenic Coolant starts showing up in recipes constantly from this point onwards.
For tips on spending your early points wisely, see our guide on Palworld 1.0 best stats to level up first.
How to Build the Production Assembly Line
You cannot craft Cryogenic Coolant at a Primitive Workbench or a High-Quality Workbench. You need a Production Assembly Line, which is a more advanced crafting station. Here is what it takes to build one:
- 100x Ingots
- 10x Cement
- 5x Wooden Boards
- 20x Nails
The Ingots are the big grind here — 100 is a significant amount. Make sure your base Pals are smelting continuously before you set this as a goal. Wooden Boards and Nails are unlocked early, but Cement arrives at Technology Level 19 if you haven’t built it yet.
For help getting the boards sorted, see our guide on how to get Wooden Boards in Palworld.
How to Power the Production Assembly Line
The Production Assembly Line needs electricity to function. Just building it and placing a Pal nearby is not enough. You need to set up three things:
- An Electrical Generator — builds at your base and provides the power supply.
- An Electric-type Pal — must be assigned to the generator to actually produce electricity. It will not run on its own.
- A Pal assigned to the Assembly Line — a Pal with Handiwork work suitability must be specifically assigned to the line to process recipes. Just having it roam your base is not enough.
Once all three are in place, select Cryogenic Coolant from the Assembly Line’s crafting menu, load your Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs into the inventory, and your assigned Pal will start production automatically. If the crafting refuses to start, it is almost always either a power issue or missing ingredients.

How to Farm Aquatic Pal Fluids for Cryogenic Coolant
Aquatic Pal Fluids drop from Water-type Pals when you defeat or capture them. The best early and mid-game options are Celaray, Pengullet, Kelpsea, Gobfin, Teafant, and Fuack. They die fast, spawn in large numbers, and you will already be running into them naturally.
Best Locations to Farm Aquatic Pal Fluids
- Sea Breeze Archipelago Castaway Beach (coords: -99, -711) — This is the top active farming spot. It has a Fast Travel Point right there, making it easy to warp back to base and return quickly. Celaray and Pengullet spawn here in good numbers, and Celaray drops 1–3 Aquatic Pal Fluids per kill.
- Gobfin’s Turf (coords: 149, -205) — Large groups of Gobfin spawn here. Great for bulk farming if you want to clear a single dense area.
- Penking Alpha Dungeon (coords: 113, -351) — The Pengullet minions inside drop both Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs. You can exit and re-enter to reset the spawns. Important: do not kill the Penking boss or the dungeon goes on cooldown for roughly an hour.
Passive Farming – Kelpsea Ranch Method
If you want a hands-off approach, catch a Kelpsea and assign it to a Ranch at your base. It will passively produce Aquatic Pal Fluids over time. It is slower than active farming, but it keeps a steady trickle going while you are doing other things.
Bring Electric-type Pals when actively farming — they deal bonus damage against Water Pals, so you clear faster and waste less time.
We have a dedicated guide on how to farm Aquatic Pal Fluids in Palworld for more detail on this.
How to Farm Ice Organs for Cryogenic Coolant
Ice Organs drop from Ice-type Pals when defeated or captured. Unlike Aquatic Pal Fluids, there is no passive Ranch method for most Ice Pals — you will need to actively hunt them. Foxcicle is the exception and can be assigned to a Ranch to produce Ice Organs passively.

Best Locations to Farm Ice Organs
- Penking Alpha Dungeon (coords: 113, -351) — The Pengullet minions drop both Ice Organs and Aquatic Pal Fluids, making this the single most efficient early-game farming spot for Cryogenic Coolant ingredients. Exit, re-enter, repeat. The fast travel point Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings is right nearby. Again, do not kill Penking or you will be locked out for an hour.
- Free Pal Alliance Tower area (snowy region) — Once you are around Level 30+, this area is packed with Reindrix and other Ice-type Pals. High spawn density means fast farming. You will need cold-resistant armor to survive here.
- Frozen north island — The large ice island in the northern part of the map has very high Ice Pal spawn rates and is one of the best mid-to-late game farming zones.
Buying Ice Organs from Merchants
If you hate grinding for Ice Organs, you can buy them from the Wandering Merchant in Duneshelter for 100 Gold each. It is not cheap at scale, but it is a useful option when you need a top-up and do not want to run a dungeon loop.
The merchant in the Small Settlement does not sell Ice Organs, so make sure you are heading specifically to Duneshelter.
If you’re heading into new regions for the first time, see our guide on how to get Soralite and Soralite Ingot in Palworld for more endgame materials you will want to stock up on.
What Is Cryogenic Coolant Used For in Palworld?
Cryogenic Coolant is used across a wide range of crafting recipes. Once you hit Technology Level 31, it starts appearing in nearly everything mid-to-late game. Here is a full breakdown:
Armor
- Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor
- Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor
- Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor
- Cold Resistant Hexolite Armor
- Cold Resistant Ancient Armor
Weapons
- Combat SMG
- Overheat Rifle
- Plasma Multicutter
- Powerful Fishing Magnet
Saddles
- Jormuntide Saddle
- Quivern Saddle
- Quivern Botan Saddle
- Ghangler Saddle
The cold-resistant armor line is likely the first thing most players need it for. You cannot survive the frozen regions of the map without it, and those regions are home to some of the best endgame materials and Pals.

Tips to Make Cryogenic Coolant Faster
- Assign a high Handiwork Pal to the Assembly Line. The higher the Handiwork level, the faster it processes each craft. Pals like Anubis (Handiwork Lv 4) are top picks for production stations.
- Batch your runs. Ingredients stack, so you can farm a large pile of Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs in one session, then queue up a big batch at the Assembly Line and let it run while you do other things.
- Use the Penking dungeon for both ingredients at once. Pengullet drops both Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs. One farming run covers both ingredients simultaneously.
- Set up a Kelpsea Ranch early. Even a slow passive trickle of Aquatic Pal Fluids adds up over time, which means less active grinding later.
- Keep a Foxcicle in a Ranch for passive Ice Organs. It is not the fastest method, but it is completely hands-free and a great supplement to active runs.
