- There are 7 Radio Towers (Lieutenant Hunt Towers) spread across the Hajin Exclusion Zone.
- Only 5 of the 7 towers are active in any given deployment — the selection rotates each match.
- Active Radio Towers reveal a Lieutenant’s location on your Tac-Map and trigger a Side Op.
- Radio Towers are also used for the Triangulation DMZ Order — you need to climb two and place transmitters at the top.
- UAV Towers are a completely separate type of tower — they reveal enemy player and AI positions on your minimap when activated.
Radio Towers in MW4 DMZ serve two distinct purposes — and the fact that there are also UAV Towers on the map causes a lot of confusion. This guide covers both tower types, all 7 Radio Tower locations across Hajin, how each one works, and how to complete the Triangulation Order that sends you climbing them.
What Are Radio Towers in MW4 DMZ?
Radio Towers in MW4 DMZ are tall lattice pylons — the kind that carry high-voltage power lines — scattered across the Hajin Exclusion Zone. They go by two names in the community: Radio Towers and Lieutenant Hunt Towers. Both refer to the same structure.
Here’s what they do:
- When active, approaching a Radio Tower starts a Side Op to locate a Lieutenant. The tower tags the nearest living Lieutenant on your Tac-Map, giving you their position without having to spend DMZ Cash on Intel.
- For the Triangulation Order, you need to climb two of them and place a transmitter at the top of each. This is part of the Underground chapter in your DMZ Orders.
Not all 7 towers are active every deployment. Only 5 are randomly live per match, and the selection changes each time. Any active tower works for both the Lieutenant hunt and the Triangulation Order — there’s no need to chase a specific one.
All 7 Radio Tower Locations in MW4 DMZ
All 7 towers are spread across different regions of the Hajin map. Here’s every location:
- Tong-il Village — coordinates x: 1705, y: 1685. Located in the Tong-il Village area in the central-west section of Hajin.
- Deadtown — coordinates x: 1117, y: 2834. Sits in the Deadtown district, a high-density urban area with strong AI presence.
- Wolves Stadium — coordinates x: 2258, y: 2677. Found on a hill in the southern part of the map. Reach it by following a dirt path uphill to the fenced tower compound.
- Hajin River Heights — coordinates x: 2782, y: 2921. Positioned near the river in the southeast section of Hajin.
- South Korean Border Zone (East) — on the eastern edge of the South Korean border crossing area.
- South Korean Border Zone (West) — on the western side of the border zone, generally easier to access than the East tower.
- South Island (North) and South Island (South) — two separate towers on the southern island portion of the map.
On your Tac-Map, active Radio Towers appear as an orange globe icon from a distance. As you close in, it shifts to a proper tower marker. Only the orange-lit towers are live for that deployment — inactive towers won’t trigger a Side Op or allow transmitter placement.

How to Use a Radio Tower in MW4 DMZ
For Lieutenant Hunting
Walk up to any active (orange-marked) Radio Tower. A Side Op automatically begins, and the tower pings the nearest living Lieutenant on your Tac-Map. This saves you the cost of buying Intel at the FOB or from a vendor. For all Lieutenant and DMZ Boss locations, it’s worth activating a tower on every deployment if you’re hunting them for XP and loot.
For the Triangulation DMZ Order
The Triangulation Order is Order 03 in the Underground chapter of DMZ Orders. It has three steps: place a transmitter on top of two Radio Towers, then place a third transmitter on top of La Grande Vie in Songdo Wharf.
Here’s how to climb a Radio Tower and place a transmitter:
- Head to any active Radio Tower on your Tac-Map.
- Find the base of the tower and locate the ladder. Start climbing from the bottom.
- The tower has multiple platforms and sets of bars to scale. Keep climbing past each level — do not stop at the first platform.
- At the very top, look for the dish antenna side of the tower structure.
- Interact with the prompt to Place Radio Transmitter.
- Repeat this on a second active tower anywhere on the map.
Both transmitters can be placed in a single deployment. Any two of the five active towers work — there’s no requirement to hit specific ones. If you’re unsure which towers are active, check your Tac-Map before you move. Our full guide on how to place transmitters on Radio Towers in MW4 DMZ covers the Triangulation Order in more detail.
La Grande Vie: The Third Transmitter Location
After placing transmitters on two Radio Towers, the Triangulation Order sends you to La Grande Vie — a tall luxury apartment tower at the north end of Songdo Wharf. Songdo Wharf is on the eastern side of the Hajin map and is a relatively low-threat waterfront area.
La Grande Vie is easy to spot — it’s the tallest building in the area, clearly visible above everything else around it. It sits next to a parking garage with a SAM Turret on top. Enter the building, find the staircase inside, and keep climbing to the rooftop. Interact with the radio mast at the top to place the final transmitter and complete the Triangulation Order.
UAV Towers vs Radio Towers — What’s the Difference?
This is where a lot of players get confused. There are two completely separate tower types in MW4 DMZ, and they do different things:
- Radio Towers (Lieutenant Hunt Towers) — the tall lattice pylons described throughout this guide. They reveal Lieutenant positions and are used for the Triangulation Order. There are 7 on the map, 5 active per deployment.
- UAV Towers — shorter, antenna-style structures found at various Points of Interest across Hajin. They work like a deployable UAV — activating one reveals nearby enemy players and AI positions on your minimap for a short duration.
To activate a UAV Tower, approach it and interact with the laptop at its base. It takes a moment to activate, and once it does, enemy positions nearby start showing up on your minimap. The effect doesn’t last long, so use the window quickly. Nearby players also receive a notification that a UAV Tower has been activated, so expect incoming pressure.
UAV Towers are marked differently on your Tac-Map from Radio Towers — look for the legend in the map UI to tell them apart. Neither tower type replaces the other, and experienced players use both when available to gain as much information as possible before pushing an objective.
Tips for Using Radio Towers Effectively
- Check the map before you move. Only active (orange) towers work for the Triangulation Order or Lieutenant pings. Don’t waste time approaching a dark tower.
- Clear the area first. Radio Towers are tall, exposed structures. AI soldiers patrol nearby, and player squads know exactly where the tower is. Clear the ground before you start climbing or you’ll get shot mid-ladder.
- Use a Rare Backpack with a Secure Slot. If you’re also carrying keys or valuable loot heading into the tower area, protect them first. See the DMZ Deployment Bonus guide for how to start runs with better backpacks.
- Combine the Lieutenant ping with a hunt run. If you activate a Radio Tower and it tags a Lieutenant, treat it as a bonus objective during your deployment. Lieutenants drop valuable loot and DMZ XP — check our guide on all DMZ Boss and Lieutenant locations to know what to expect from each one.
- Both Triangulation towers in one run. The two transmitters needed for the Order can be placed in a single deployment. If you have a fast loadout like the M4 or ISO Nightshade, clearing both towers and then rotating to Songdo Wharf for La Grande Vie is very doable.
- Grinding DMZ levels? Combining Radio Tower Side Ops with Lieutenant kills is one of the more efficient ways to stack DMZ XP per deployment. Check our MW4 max level and all rewards guide to see what you’re unlocking as you climb the DMZ progression track.
