Racing Guide NTE: Neverness to Everness

Complete racing guide for NTE Neverness to Everness. Learn how to unlock races, beat every team, upgrade your car, earn Annulith, and win in PvP and PvE modes.

TL;DR

  • Racing unlocks at City Tycoon Level 2, which requires 45,500 Fons and completing the New Commission quest.
  • There are three race modes: Challenge (solo PvE), Online Battle (PvP), and Friends (private PvP).
  • Six PvE racing teams exist: Sunday, Coastal Drift, Full Throttle, Meridian, Tempestas, and Uncrowned King.
  • Each team is only available during a specific 12-hour in-game time window.
  • Winning races and completing objectives earns Fons and Annulith through flags and Star Rewards.
  • Always repair your car before a race. Low durability causes a massive speed and handling penalty.
  • Upgrade your engine first — it has the biggest impact on race performance.
  • Follow the colour-coded racing line on the road: blue means go fast, yellow means brake.

Racing in Neverness to Everness is one of the most rewarding Hethereau Hobbies in the game. It is not just a fun side activity. It is one of the best sources of Fons and Annulith available, especially once you get comfortable with the tracks and start clearing side objectives alongside your wins.

This guide covers everything you need to know to get started, win consistently, and squeeze the most out of the racing system in NTE.

How to Unlock Racing in NTE

Racing unlocks at City Tycoon Level 2. To reach this level you need to earn your first 45,500 Fons in total lifetime earnings and complete the New Commission quest. Once both conditions are met, the Garage and Racing features open up automatically. For a full breakdown of the City Tycoon system and how to level it up efficiently, check our NTE City Tycoon guide.

Before you can race you also need to own a qualifying vehicle. You cannot enter most races on the default scooter. Head to one of the three main dealerships in Hethereau to buy a car. The dealerships are TerraX, Novus, and Regalia, and each sells a different vehicle lineup. More expensive cars generally have better top speed and acceleration stats, so invest in a proper car as early as you can. Our guide on how to get a car in NTE covers the full purchase process. For general Fons farming to save up faster, also see our guide on how to get Fons fast in NTE.

Once you own a vehicle and have reached Tycoon Level 2, look for the pink flag icon on your map. This marks the location of the Race Challenge NPC. Interact with them to begin and, if needed, adjust your in-game time to match the available race window for the team you want to face.

Race Modes in NTE

There are three ways to race in Neverness to Everness:

  • Challenge – Solo PvE mode where you race against NPC teams. Six different teams are available, each with their own courses and difficulty level. This is the main mode for earning Fons and Star Rewards.
  • Online Battle – Random PvP matchmaking against up to three other players. Ranked modes here can reward pull currency but reset every 65 days, so be consistent.
  • Friends – Private PvP races organized with friends. No ranking is at stake here, which makes it great for practice or casual sessions.

How the Racing Line Works

NTE’s race tracks have a highlighted route painted on the road that shows you the path to follow. This is not just a direction marker. It is the racing line, the most efficient path through the course that minimizes the distance you travel and reduces how much you need to slow down at corners.

Pay close attention to the colour of the line as you drive:

  • Blue sections – Straightaways and safe zones. Drive at full speed here.
  • Yellow sections – Curves and braking points. Slow down and prepare to turn. Ignoring these and going full speed into corners will send you off track or into a wall.

Following the racing line correctly is more important than raw speed on most tracks. A well-driven slower car will beat a faster car that keeps crashing into barriers. Mastering the line on each course is what separates consistent wins from frustrating losses.

All PvE Racing Teams in NTE (Challenge Mode)

There are six PvE racing teams available in Challenge mode. They are listed below from easiest to hardest. Each team also only races during a specific 12-hour in-game time window, so you may need to adjust the time of day to access the team you want. You can do this by interacting with the Race Challenge NPC.

1. Sunday (Beginner)

Sunday is the entry-level team and is perfect for new players. The courses feature sharp turns, but opponents drive slowly. You can win comfortably by maintaining around 130 km/h and focusing on your corner technique without taking excessive risks. Do not worry about pushing your top speed here. Clean, steady driving is more than enough.

2. Coastal Drift (Easy)

Coastal Drift tracks are winding but still very forgiving. Opponents are not aggressive, and the pace is similar to Sunday. Keep your speed around 130 km/h and brake smoothly into the turns. Course 1 has blind corners, so learning the layout beforehand helps a lot. Course 2 is mostly open straightaways after the first set of turns, which makes it a great track to push your car’s top speed once you have cleared the opening bends.

3. Full Throttle (Intermediate)

Full Throttle is a noticeable step up in difficulty. Opponents are faster and more aggressive. You need a better car or upgraded engine parts to stay competitive here. Start braking earlier than you think you need to, especially on the tighter sections of the track. Crashing and recovering costs far more time than cautious cornering.

4. Meridian (Intermediate-Hard)

Meridian courses push your driving skills harder. Opponents close gaps quickly if you make mistakes. Consistent line discipline and good vehicle maintenance become important at this stage. Make sure your car is fully repaired before entering any Meridian race. A damaged car with low durability cannot keep up here.

5. Tempestas (Hard)

Tempestas is a challenging team. Courses at this stage demand good car performance and very clean driving. Mistakes are punished quickly. Having proper tires equipped for the current weather is important here since rain or snow makes grip noticeably worse. Always check conditions before the race and equip the appropriate tire set at the Garage.

6. Uncrowned King (Hardest)

Uncrowned King is the most difficult PvE team in the game. The roads are extremely narrow, which makes collisions with barriers and opponents highly likely. You need a top-tier car, fully upgraded engine parts, and very precise driving to take first place here. This is end-game racing content. Do not attempt it until you are comfortable with the earlier teams and have invested heavily in your vehicle.

Race Rewards: Fons, Flags, and Annulith

Racing is one of the best activities in NTE for earning both Fons and Annulith. Here is how the reward system works:

  • Base race win: First place in a Team Challenge pays 2,000 to 5,000 Fons depending on the race.
  • Side objectives: Each race has two additional objectives, such as winning by a specific margin, finishing under a time limit, or racing with a certain car. Completing these pays 1,000 to 4,000 Fons each. Finishing all objectives in a race can more than triple your total earnings from a single session.
  • Flags: Every time you complete a Race Goal, you earn flags. Accumulate enough flags to unlock Star Rewards, which include Annulith and Fons. You can earn Star Rewards from every racing team, so it is worth working through all six.
  • Achievements: Defeating the leader of each PvE team and racking up PvP wins both reward Annulith. Team defeat achievements come from Challenge mode. PvP achievements can be farmed in both Online Matches and Friend Matches.

Winning races and completing objectives consume 1 City Stamina per 1,000 Fons earned, so plan your racing sessions around your available City Stamina to stay efficient.

Car Upgrades: What to Prioritize

Buying a new car every time you struggle with harder races is not sustainable. Vehicle prices balloon significantly at the higher end. Instead, focus on upgrading your existing car through the Garage customization system.

  • Engine – The highest-impact upgrade. Directly improves top speed and acceleration. Always prioritize this first.
  • Frame – The second most impactful upgrade after the engine. Improves overall stability and helps on trickier courses.
  • Handling and braking – Useful upgrades for corner-heavy tracks where pure speed matters less.
  • Tires – Special tires are essential for wet weather racing. Rain and snow reduce grip significantly. Equip appropriate tires in the modification menu at any Garage before racing in bad conditions.

For a high-end car recommendation, the Pursuit V8 is one of the strongest options for top-tier racing, though it costs around 3 million Fons without upgrades. Save steadily and invest in engine upgrades on your current car in the meantime.

Vehicle Durability and Repairs

Vehicle durability decreases as you take damage from crashes and collisions. A damaged car suffers a massive penalty to both top speed and handling. If durability hits zero, the car breaks down completely and cannot be used until repaired.

Always repair your car before entering any race. You can do this directly from the race selection screen before a race begins, so there is no excuse to start with a damaged vehicle. Repairs are relatively cheap and should be treated as a mandatory pre-race step. Ignoring durability is one of the most common reasons players underperform in the mid and late-game races.

Weather and Its Effect on Racing

Weather in NTE is dynamic and actually affects how your car handles on track. Rain and snow reduce road grip, which means your car takes longer to respond to steering inputs and is more likely to overshoot corners. If you race in bad conditions without the right tires, you will notice your car sliding much more than usual.

Equip weather-appropriate tires from the modification menu at any Garage before hitting a rain or snow race. You can also use the in-game time and weather controls if you need to adjust conditions before a race. Our guide on how to pass time and control the weather in NTE explains exactly how to do this.

PvP Racing Tips (Online Battle)

Online Battles work the same way as Challenge races in terms of mechanics but add the unpredictability of human opponents. Here are a few extra things to keep in mind for PvP:

  • Human players are more aggressive than NPC opponents, especially in tight sections of the track. Expect more contact and plan your racing line accordingly.
  • Ranked modes reset every 65 days. Push hard during the season while rewards are available, then reassess your standing before the next reset.
  • Avoid unnecessary drifting in competitive races. Drifting looks good but usually costs time. Focus on clean exits out of corners instead.
  • Use the Friends mode for low-pressure practice before jumping into ranked Online Battles.

Character Life Skills and Racing

Playable characters in NTE each have their own Life Skills, some of which directly improve Hethereau Hobby performance including racing. Certain characters can boost rewards from races, improve City Stamina efficiency, or provide other bonuses that make your racing sessions more profitable. When you are building your character roster, it is worth checking which Life Skills are available and whether any of them apply to driving activities. Check our full list of every playable character in NTE and how to unlock them for details on character skills.

Racing as Part of Your Daily Routine in NTE

Racing sits alongside fishing, Swift Travel, and café management as one of the core Hethereau Hobbies that feeds directly into your City Tycoon level. The Fons you earn from races count toward your lifetime earnings total, which is what determines Tycoon Level milestones. Higher Tycoon levels unlock better rewards, including access to more Hobbies and the Hunter Exchange system where Fons can be converted into Annulith.

If you want to unlock fishing as well, that becomes available at Tycoon Level 3. Check our fishing guide for NTE to see how the Sea Angler system works and how to earn even more Fons and Annulith passively. For other City Tycoon content, our Hethereau Hobbies guide covers everything you can unlock and what each activity rewards.

Tips to Win Races in NTE

  • Follow the racing line at all times. The colour-coded path on the road is your most important tool. Blue means full speed, yellow means brake. Do not ignore it.
  • Upgrade your engine before anything else. Speed and acceleration improvements give you the most performance gain per Fon spent.
  • Always repair before racing. Do it from the pre-race screen. Never enter with low durability.
  • Complete both side objectives every race. They can triple your total Fon payout from a single session. Even if they seem difficult, attempt them every time.
  • Equip weather tires when it is raining or snowing. Grip loss in bad conditions is real and will cost you races if you ignore it.
  • Learn each track layout before pushing for speed. Memorizing blind corners and tricky sections is worth more than raw car performance on many stages.
  • Use the time adjustment mechanic at the NPC. Each team races in a specific time window. Use the in-game time controls to access the team you want without waiting.
  • Farm PvP achievements steadily. Both Online Matches and Friend Matches count. Running private sessions with friends is an easy and stress-free way to accumulate PvP wins.
