What Is the Rainy Night Tale Quest in NTE?
Rainy Night Tale is a side quest in Neverness to Everness set in the Bridge Crossings district of Hethereau. On the map and in the collectible tracker, it appears as Rainy Night Tale. However, once you accept it, the name changes to Weather Watch in your active quest log. Both names refer to the same quest, so do not be confused if you see it listed differently.
The quest involves a strange Anomaly phenomenon where umbrella-wielding enemies called Rainmen are appearing in a residential neighbourhood during rainy nights. You team up with a Joint Task Force member named Bixing to investigate the source of the disturbance and put a stop to it.
This quest is one of the more atmospheric and story-driven side missions in version 1.0. It covers two separate in-game nights and requires you to talk to residents, examine the environment, and clear out Rainmen in a final warehouse confrontation.
How to Unlock Rainy Night Tale in NTE
Requirement 1: Complete Prologue 2
You must first finish the main story mission Prologue 2: Good Business, Better Treasure. This quest cannot appear on your map before that point. Most players will encounter it naturally as they explore Bridge Crossings after completing the prologue missions.

Requirement 2: Set the Weather to Rainy
This is the part that trips up most players. The quest only appears on the map when it is raining in-game. If you are walking around Bridge Crossings and cannot see the quest marker, you simply need to change the weather.
Open the radial menu and select Time System. From there you can change both the time of day and the weather. Switch the weather to rainy and the quest marker will appear. You also need it to be after 19:00 (7 PM) for the NPC students to be at the laundromat location.
If you are unsure how to change the time and weather in NTE, check our guide on how to pass time and control weather for a full breakdown.
Where to Find the Quest Start Location
Head to the Bridge Crossings district in Old Town, Hethereau. The quest starts in the alley south of the Security Office on Coastal Highway. Look for two students hanging around near the V.i.B Laundromat on White Parrot Street, in the residential blocks between Coastal Highway and White Parrot Street.
The quest icon on the map will show up here once both conditions above are met — Prologue 2 complete and rainy weather active after 7 PM. If you have already unlocked the area by activating the Wertheimer Tower, the blue exclamation mark on the map will guide you directly to the start point.
Rainy Night Tale Full Walkthrough
Step 1: Eavesdrop on the Students’ Conversation
Approach the two students standing near the V.i.B Laundromat on White Parrot Street. Get close enough to eavesdrop on what they are talking about. They are discussing something strange that has been happening in the neighbourhood at night during rainy weather.
Step 2: Take Shelter from the Rain
Follow the students as they head inside the nearby laundromat to get out of the rain. Walk through the entrance and enter the laundromat with them.
Step 3: Talk to Fir
Inside the laundromat, speak to the student named Fir. She is visibly worried and has stayed behind. Talk to her to find out what is going on. She reveals that one of their friends went out into the rain and has not come back.
Step 4: Comfort the Worried Student
Select the dialogue option to comfort Fir. She is anxious about her missing friend. After the conversation, the quest updates and asks you to go out and look for the missing student.
Step 5: Leave the Laundromat and Find the Missing Student
Head back out into the rain and follow the quest marker to search for the student who left. As you investigate the streets, you will run into a JTF (Joint Task Force) member named Bixing at the destination. He is already on the scene investigating the Rainmen Anomaly reports in this area.
Step 6: Follow Bixing and Nullify the Rainmen
Talk to Bixing and then follow him as he moves through the streets. He will lead you to where the Rainmen Anomaly are active. Defeat all the Rainmen that appear in the area. These are straightforward enemies and should not cause much trouble with a properly built team.
After clearing the Rainmen, a dialogue event plays and the first night section of the quest wraps up.
Step 7: Advance Time to the Next Evening
The quest requires you to wait until the next evening to continue. Open the Time System and advance time to the following night. If you have the quest tracked in your log, the game will prompt you to adjust time automatically — just confirm and it moves the clock forward for you.
You need to be in the 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM window for the next steps to trigger.
Step 8: Check What Bixing Is Up To
Follow the quest marker back to the block where the Rainmen have been appearing. Meet up with Bixing again for a conversation. He is continuing his investigation into why the Rainmen keep showing up in this specific area.
Step 9: Investigate the Residential Area
Bixing asks you to help question the nearby residents. Follow the quest marker and talk to the resident named May near the apartment buildings in the area.
After speaking with May, go to the Damp House next to Brown’s Used Electronics and examine the wall. This is an environmental clue that gives you and Bixing more information about where the Rainmen might be coming from.
Once you have examined the wall, speak with a nearby resident named Selwyn. The conversation with Selwyn points you both toward a specific location — an abandoned warehouse nearby.
Step 10: Follow Bixing to the Abandoned Warehouse
Follow Bixing as he leads you to the abandoned warehouse. When you arrive, you will find that the warehouse gate is locked. You cannot enter through the front door.
Step 11: Find Another Entrance (Climb the Wall)
This is the step where many players get stuck. Do not try to force the gate. Instead, look for a climbable wall on the same side as the gate. Climb up the wall to reach the top level of the building.
Once on top, find a door on the second floor and interact with it to open it. This is your way inside the warehouse.
Step 12: Investigate the Abandoned Warehouse
Once inside on the second floor, navigate through the warehouse. Head to the opposite corner of the second floor and take the stairs down to the first floor. A cutscene or dialogue event triggers when you reach the lower level.
After the scene plays out, go around the shelf to the right and approach the Rainmen you find there. The warehouse gate opens and the Rainmen head out into the alley.
Step 13: Nullify the Rainmen (Final Fight)
Exit through the first floor shutter or follow the Rainmen out into the alley. Defeat all 5 Rainmen in the alley outside the warehouse. This is the final combat encounter of the quest.
Once all 5 Rainmen are eliminated, a final dialogue event plays between you and Bixing. After it ends, the quest is complete.

- Hunter Level EXP x200

- Colorless Dye x6

Common Issues and Tips
Quest Not Appearing on Map
If you have finished Prologue 2 but still cannot see the quest marker, the most likely cause is the weather. The quest only shows up during rainy weather. Open the Time System from the radial menu and switch to rain. The marker should appear in Bridge Crossings immediately after the weather changes. You also need to be past 7 PM in-game time.
Stuck at the Warehouse Gate
The front gate of the warehouse cannot be opened directly. You need to climb the wall on the same side as the gate. There is a climbable section that lets you get to the second floor. Once up top, look for the second floor door and go in that way. This is the only entrance to the warehouse for this quest.
Time Not Advancing Correctly
Between the two nights, you need to advance time to the 6 PM to 8 PM window. Tracking the quest in your log makes this easier — the game will offer to auto-adjust the time for you. If you are doing it manually, use the Time System in the radial menu and set the time to early evening on the following day.
