How Team Building Works in NTE

Before looking at specific teams, you need to understand what makes a team good in Neverness to Everness. The game is built around the Esper Cycle — a six-element ring where only adjacent elements can react with each other.

The six elements in order are: Cosmos → Anima → Incantation → Chaos → Psyche → Lakshana → Cosmos. When two adjacent-element characters chain their actions on the Esper Cycle Meter, a reaction fires. These reactions are what separate good teams from great ones.

There are six duo reactions and two more powerful trio reactions that trigger when two matching duo reactions land on the same target at once. Every character also has a passive that boosts a specific reaction — and the key thing is this passive works even when the character is sitting off-field. That means you can stack reaction buffs across your whole squad simply by having the right characters on your team, whether they are actively fighting or not.

All Esper Cycle Reactions at a Glance

Here is a quick summary of every reaction so you can understand why each team works the way it does:

Blossom (Cosmos + Anima): Spawns a Vita Bud turret that fires homing projectiles at enemies every 2 seconds. Up to 3 Vita Buds can exist at once. Best AoE sustained damage reaction in the game.
Remora (Lakshana + Cosmos): Slows enemy movement and attack speed for 5 seconds. Also the setup piece for the Charge trio reaction.
Hexed (Anima + Incantation): Records all Anima and Incantation damage dealt in the past 12 seconds and fires it all back as a burst hit. Rewards multi-hit characters.
Nova (Chaos + Psyche): Sticks a mark on the enemy that explodes 5 seconds later for big Mental damage. Setup piece for the Discord trio reaction.
Scorch (Incantation + Chaos): Applies a damage-over-time burn that lasts 15 seconds. The longest-lasting reaction in the game. Also needed to trigger Discord.
Stain (Psyche + Lakshana): Enemies take 50% more Psyche and Lakshana damage for 12 seconds. A flat multiplier for compatible DPS characters.
Charge (Trio – Cosmos + Anima + Lakshana): Triggers when Blossom and Remora are both active on the same target. Every Vita Pistil hit on a Remora-marked enemy gives 10 Ultimate Energy. Massive energy generation for the whole team.
Discord (Trio – Chaos + Psyche + Incantation): Triggers when Nova and Scorch are active simultaneously. Chips down the enemy’s Break bar on every tick. Best boss-stagger setup in the current meta.

Best Teams in NTE

1. Hotori Blossom Team (Best Overall)

Characters: Hotori, Nanally, Zero, Mint

Reactions: Blossom, Remora

This is widely considered the strongest team in NTE right now. It centers on Hotori’s Time Stop Ultimate, which records ally skills and replays them all at once during a frozen 10-second burst window.

Hotori — Records ally skills with Present Replay, then releases them all during Time Stop. Her Blossom enhancement also prevents Vita Buds from pausing during the time freeze, letting them keep firing during her burst.
Nanally — Main DPS and Blossom amplifier. Her passive doubles Vita Bud fire rate (1 Pistil per second instead of 2), dramatically increasing sustained damage output. She also fires follow-up hits on every attack the team lands via her Underboss summon.
Zero — Charges the Esper Cycle Meter at high speed with Instantaneous Chain Reaction, letting the team cycle reactions faster and trigger Blossom more often. Also provides light healing on energy gain.
Mint — Off-field support who widens the AoE of Vita Pistil explosions. Her buffs remain active even when she is not on the field.

The rotation works by building Hotori’s Non-Closed Timepiece energy, using Present Replay to record Zero, Nanally, and Mint skills, then unleashing World’s Tide. All recorded skills replay inside the time stop while Vita Buds continue attacking frozen enemies. This can produce some of the highest single-window damage numbers available in 1.0.

2. Triple Blossom Team (AoE Monster)

Characters: Hotori, Nanally, Jiuyuan, Zero

Reactions: Blossom, Remora

This team stacks all three major Blossom amplifiers onto the same squad. The result is a Vita Bud output that absolutely floods the field with projectiles.

Jiuyuan — Adds a 4th Vita Bud and raises the field cap to 6. His high AoE damage output is also strong when recorded by Hotori’s Present Replay.
Hotori — Keeps Vita Buds firing during Time Stop. Records Jiuyuan’s AoE skills for replay during the burst window.
Nanally — Doubles Vita Bud fire speed to 1 Pistil per second, massively increasing Blossom tick rate.
Zero — Reaction support and Esper Cycle enabler.

3. Discord Boss Team (Best for Stagger)

Characters: Daffodil, Adler, Haniel, Nanally

Reactions: Discord, Nova, Scorch, Hexed

This is the premier boss-killing composition in NTE. It runs three reactions simultaneously — Nova, Scorch, and Discord — to shred through enemy Break bars at extraordinary speed.

Daffodil — The only Chaos character in 1.0 and required for this team to function. She is a specialist boss-breaker who decimates the white stagger bar. Her Discord enhancement further reduces the enemy’s Break cap, making staggers happen even faster. When the boss breaks, your whole team unloads maximum damage.
Adler — Provides team-wide shields and enhances Scorch DoT damage. His kit gives both durability and damage with zero setup required.
Haniel — Nova amplifier who also boosts the team’s ATK% whenever Nova is triggered. Gives the team two buffs at once — reaction damage and a flat ATK increase.
Nanally — Contributes Anima damage and follow-up hits without disrupting the Incantation/Chaos/Psyche Discord chain. Her Underboss fires on every team hit in the background.

The rotation cycles Scorch first, then overlaps Nova while the burn is still ticking. Discord activates automatically on top of both, chipping the Break bar down on every tick. Once the boss staggers, the whole team dumps their Ultimates into the window. Combined with Adler’s shields and Fadia’s damage redirection in alternate builds, this team is nearly unkillable while also outputting massive numbers.

4. Chiz Charge Team (Single-Target Specialist)

Characters: Chiz, Jiuyuan, Hathor, Zero

Reactions: Charge (Trio), Blossom, Remora

This team is built to fuel Chiz’s Ultimate as often as possible. Chiz needs her Ultimate to perform at her best — her Grain Market mechanic rewards timed skill use during the Ultimate state for maximum damage output.

Chiz — Main DPS and Grain economy manager. Her Grain system builds on Basic Attacks and Skills, and her Ultimate activates the Grain Market state where hitting at peak Grain prices deals the most damage.
Jiuyuan — Triggers Blossom with Hathor for the Charge trio reaction setup. Also contributes AoE sub-DPS.
Hathor — Triggers Remora and adds time to the Remora debuff duration, giving Chiz more time to fire up her Ultimate cycle. Also a Blossom amplifier through her passives.
Zero — Speeds up Esper Cycle meter, giving Chiz faster access to her Ultimate.

5. Stain Skia Team (Easy and Consistent)

Characters: Skia, Zero, Sakiri, Fadia

Reactions: Stain, Remora

This is one of the most beginner-friendly teams in NTE. There is no complex rotation to manage, no tight timing windows, and no risky mechanics. It is straightforward and delivers consistent damage from the start.

Skia — Main DPS. A reliable on-field damage dealer who puts out steady numbers as long as he is active. His shadows add an extra damage layer in the background.
Zero — Triggers Remora with Skia (Lakshana + Cosmos) and fills the Esper Cycle meter fast. The Stain reaction is already baked in to this lane — enemies automatically take 50% more Psyche and Lakshana damage for 12 seconds without any special setup.
Sakiri — Keeps enemies grouped, contributes ATK buffs after her Ultimate, and synergizes well with Skia’s close-range playstyle. Her teamwide ATK boost scales with investment, so the better your DPS gear becomes, the more value she adds.
Fadia — Damage redirection support who makes the team nearly unkillable. Can replace Sakiri if you want more survivability in harder content without breaking the elemental lane.

6. Best F2P Team (No Limited Characters Needed)

Characters: Chiz, Esper Zero, Skia, Adler

Reactions: Remora, Stain

This team is built entirely from characters you can unlock without spending on limited banners. Chiz is a free S-Rank character obtained through story progression and comes with all her Awakening copies as well, making her the best free unit in the game by a large margin.

Chiz — Free S-Rank main DPS with high skill ceiling. Her Grain system rewards precise play and her ultimate delivers strong burst windows.
Esper Zero — Free sub-DPS and Esper Cycle enabler. Charges the meter quickly and triggers Remora with adjacent elements.
Skia — Reliable on-field DPS. Pairs with Zero for Remora and contributes steady damage.
Adler — Free shielder who provides team-wide protection and Scorch DoT. Works as the defensive anchor for any content where survival matters.

Team Building Tips for NTE

Always Build Around a Reaction First

Pick one or two reactions you want to focus on before you pick characters. Then choose the adjacent-element characters needed to trigger those reactions. Fill remaining slots with characters whose passives amplify the same reaction. A team with three passives boosting Blossom will consistently out-damage a mixed roster that triggers Blossom by accident.

Bench Passives Matter as Much as Active Damage

Characters do not have to be on the field to provide value. Every character’s reaction passive works from the bench. This means even if Nanally is not the one triggering Blossom, she is still doubling Vita Bud fire rate simply by being in your squad. Always check what reaction passives each character brings before building your lineup.

Aim for Trio Reactions When Possible

Charge and Discord are the two strongest reactions in the game right now. Charge supercharges Ultimate Energy generation and lets the whole team cycle their Ultimates much faster. Discord destroys boss Break bars at a speed nothing else can match. If you can build toward either of these, do it.

Keep a Balanced Role Distribution

Most top teams follow a pattern of one main DPS, one or two sub-DPS, and one support or shielder. You do not always need a dedicated healer since characters like Adler and Fadia cover defense through shields and damage redirection. Knowing how to heal in NTE can also help you decide when a healer is actually necessary.

Team building in Neverness to Everness rewards players who understand the Esper Cycle. Once you stop picking characters based on raw stats and start building around two or three reactions with consistent amplifiers, your damage jumps noticeably and fights feel much cleaner.

The Hotori Blossom team is the current gold standard in 1.0.
