Who Is Edgar in Neverness to Everness?
Edgar is a playable A-Rank Cosmos character in Neverness to Everness. He belongs to the Eibon Antique Shop faction and is one of the most accessible healers in the game. If your team keeps dying in harder content, Edgar is your answer.
His role is pure support. He keeps allies alive through steady HP recovery, steps in when HP drops low, does his job, and rotates back out. He does not need to stay on the field constantly, which is actually what makes him so good.

Edgar Skills – NTE
Understanding Edgar’s kit is the first step to playing him well. His skill set is simple but requires smart timing.
Skill Priority: Skill = Ultimate > Support Skill > Basic Attack
Basic Attack – Combat Practice
Edgar performs up to 5 consecutive attacks that deal Cosmos DMG. It uses what he learned in Lamplight Academy’s physical education class. Nothing fancy, but it does the job when you need light pressure.
Basic Attack (Air) – Calculated Landing
Press Basic Attack while airborne to plunge and deal Cosmos DMG to an area on impact. Damage scales with fall height, up to 200%. A nice bonus if you find yourself in the air.
Critical Riposte – Crisis is Opportunity
Triggers after a Critical Dodge during Combat Practice. Edgar charges toward the enemy and uses his backpack to deal Cosmos DMG to an area while also reducing Break. Good for building pressure when you dodge well.
Redirect Skill – Wild Current
This is Edgar’s main healing tool. Hold to enter a channeling state. Edgar keeps firing at the target while continuously healing the teammate with the lowest HP. The longer you hold, the stronger the healing — but the cooldown also grows. Use it when the team genuinely needs healing, not just for damage.
Ultimate – Finnegan’s Wake
Edgar creates a healing zone that lasts 10 seconds and continuously restores HP to the active character. The key mechanic: the zone stays active after you swap characters. Deploy it, switch to your DPS, and let the heals run while you keep dealing damage. This is the core of his off-field value.
Support Skill – Weight of Knowledge
Edgar charges the target and swings his heavy bag, dealing Cosmos DMG to an area. Also builds Keys of Truth for extending Ultimate duration. Use it regularly in your rotation.
Edgar Passives – NTE
Gentle Edge
When a character triggers Charge using a Support Skill, Edgar grants 120 Ultimate Energy instantly. This has a 30-second cooldown. After it triggers, Ultimate Energy from Lebenblumes is disabled when hitting Slowed targets. This passive is great for keeping his Ultimate cycling more often.
Unchanging Warmth
Using Wild Current or his Support Skill gives Edgar a Key of Truth, up to 3 keys. Each key extends the duration of his Ultimate by 1 second. The more you use his kit, the longer Finnegan’s Wake lasts. Simple and rewarding passive.
Edgar Awakening Guide – NTE
Awakening unlocks powerful passive bonuses. Here is the order to prioritize Edgar’s Awakenings.
Awakening Priority: A3 > A5 > A2 > A6 > A1 > A4
| Awakening | Name | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Anomaly-Loving Observer | Grants 1 Key of Truth whenever any teammate uses a Support Skill. |
| A2 | Intern Anomaly Hunter | Caps the max cooldown extension from Wild Current at 3 seconds. |
| A3 | One of the Eibon Detectives | Wild Current healing increases by 15% for allies below 30% HP. Priority unlock. |
| A4 | Skilled Strategist | Wild Current DMG +50%. Low priority since Edgar is built for healing, not damage. |
| A5 | Guardian of the Antique Shop’s Light | Edgar’s Max HP +20%. More HP means stronger heals. Second priority. |
| A6 | Visitor from Planet Curiosity | Grants 15% DEF to all allies inside Finnegan’s Wake zone. Great team utility. |
A3 first because the extra healing for low-HP allies is what saves your team in tough fights. A5 next for more HP and therefore stronger heals. A2 helps you control cooldowns better. A6 adds teamwide DEF when the Ultimate is active, which is solid utility.
Resonance Nodes
- Pursuit of Knowledge: Increases skill level of Wild Current, Finnegan’s Wake, and Weight of Knowledge by 1. Very good value.
- Keen Insight: Converts 3% of any teammate’s Max HP lost into 1 Charge for Finnegan’s Vigil, up to 20 Charges. Resets after casting Finnegan’s Vigil. Strong sustain node.
Best Arc (Weapon) for Edgar – NTE
Call of the Twisted City – Best Overall
This is Edgar’s top pick. It raises his HP, which directly improves how much he heals. It also adds a healing bonus whenever he uses his Redirect Skill. If you want Edgar to be a dedicated medic, this is the Arc to equip. It matches his playstyle perfectly.
Mind Royale – Best Support Option
A good secondary option. It generates Ultimate Energy on a cooldown tied to his Redirect Skill use, letting Edgar access Finnegan’s Wake more often. It also gives some Break Intensity, which adds minor utility when breaking enemy guards. Run this if you need him cycling his Ultimate more aggressively.
Best Cartridge and Modules for Edgar – NTE
Thea’s Night Tavern – Best Cartridge
This is Edgar’s best cartridge and it is not close. The set provides a small HP boost from its 2-piece bonus, and the 4-piece effect gives a 20% healing bonus. That bonus is essential for a medic-focused build. The setup runs mostly on Type III Modules, leaving extra module slots free to push even higher HP totals. With the full console bonus, you can reach up to 60% max HP, which amplifies everything Edgar does.
Module Priority
- Main Stats: HP% on all main module slots.
- Sub Stats: HP%, Healing Bonus, then whatever remaining HP rolls you can get.
- Avoid Attack or Crit stats. Edgar does not need damage output. Every point should go toward keeping his healing ceiling as high as possible.
Best Team Comps for Edgar – NTE
Edgar fits into nearly every team in the game because every team needs a healer at some point. Here are the three main comps he shines in. For a full breakdown of how team reactions work, check out our guides on individual characters like Haniel, Hathor, and Daffodil.
F2P Starting Team
- Esper Zero – Main DPS
- Skia – Flex / Reaction support
- Edgar – Healer
- Haniel – Universal buffer
This is the team to start your journey with. It is reliable, effective, and beginner-friendly. Esper Zero handles damage, Edgar keeps everyone alive, and Haniel makes the whole team hit harder. You can carry this comp deep into mid-game.
Stain Team
This team works around the Stain reaction chain. Edgar keeps the team healthy while the reaction combo does heavy lifting. Swap Edgar in when HP dips, drop his Ultimate, then get back to the damage rotation.
Blossom Team
Blossom teams are aggressive and fast. Edgar gives the team the sustain layer they need so Nanally can stay on the field doing damage without your HP dropping to dangerous levels. He fits here with zero friction.
How to Play Edgar in NTE – Rotation Guide
Edgar’s rotation is one of the simplest in the game. That is a feature, not a flaw. Here is how to run him step by step.
- Step 1: Watch your team’s HP. Edgar does not need to be on the field constantly. Wait until someone is dropping before you swap in.
- Step 2: When HP gets low, swap to Edgar and use Wild Current. Hold it long enough to top off the lowest-HP ally, then release. Do not hold it longer than needed or the cooldown will spike.
- Step 3: If the whole team is struggling, cast Finnegan’s Wake (Ultimate) to create the healing zone. Immediately swap back to your DPS. The zone heals the active character over 10 seconds, so you do not need Edgar on-field for it to work.
- Step 4: Use his Support Skill to build Keys of Truth and generate Ultimate Energy. Each use stacks toward longer Ultimate duration.
- Step 5: Repeat. Edgar’s rotation loops naturally once you get the timing down.
The most common mistake with Edgar is holding Wild Current too long. You get greedy trying to squeeze more healing out of it, but the cooldown punishes you for it. Short, precise holds are better.
Edgar Life Skills – NTE
Edgar’s Life Skills provide passive bonuses that help with the game’s open-world and cafe management systems. They are not battle-focused but are useful for players who enjoy the life simulation aspects of NTE.
| Level | Effect |
|---|---|
| Lv. 1 | Increases traffic by 18. |
| Lv. 2 | Reduces ingredient consumption rate by 1%. |
| Lv. 3 | Customers are more likely to choose the highest-priced dishes in Owner’s Selection. |
| Lv. 4 | Reduces ingredient consumption rate by 1%. |
| Lv. 5 | Increases traffic by 27. |
If you are running a cafe in NTE, Edgar is a great pick for your staff lineup. Check out our cafe ownership guide for tips on how to make the most of these bonuses.
Is Edgar Worth Building in NTE?
Yes. Edgar is one of the best F2P-friendly healers in Neverness to Everness. He is an A-Rank character, which means he is easier to obtain and duplicate compared to S-Rank units. His healing output is reliable, his Ultimate provides passive off-field heals, and he slots into almost every team without needing special setup.
If you are newer to the game, Edgar will carry you through the hardest early content. If you are a veteran, he still holds up as a solid healer even in endgame scenarios. He is not flashy but he is dependable — and in a game where you can die fast, that matters.
