Daffodil Overview – Who Is She in NTE?
Daffodil is an S-Rank Chaos DPS in Neverness to Everness. She is the bodyguard of the Eibon Antique Shop – quiet, expressionless, and deadly. Her kaleidoscope eyes see through everything. Behind that cold exterior is a character with real depth, and her combat kit reflects that same precision and efficiency.
At launch, Daffodil is the only Chaos Break specialist in the entire game. No other character fills her role. She is specifically designed to destroy enemy Break gauges faster than anyone else, stagger bosses repeatedly, and create massive damage windows for her teammates to exploit.
She is not a traditional stand-in-field DPS. She plays in quick-swap rotations – spending most of her time off-field while allies stack their Support Skills to power her up, then swapping in at exactly the right moment to land a devastating parry counter. If you like precise, timing-based gameplay with massive burst payoffs, Daffodil is your character.

Daffodil Skills Explained – Phantom Step and Insight
Before building Daffodil, you need to understand her two core mechanics: Phantom Step and Insight. Everything in her kit feeds into these two systems.
What Is Phantom Step?
Phantom Step is Daffodil’s swap-in parry mechanic. When you switch to Daffodil from another character during battle while enemies are present, she automatically executes Phantom Step – a high-speed counter strike. If this auto-parry successfully intercepts an enemy attack, it:
- Deals heavy Chaos DMG and Break damage to the target.
- Instantly fully charges her Ultimate gauge – Finale (Witness This Finale) becomes available immediately.
This is her most powerful mechanic. A successful Phantom Step parry lets you skip all normal Ultimate buildup and go straight into her burst phase. It takes timing and game knowledge to land consistently, but it is what separates a good Daffodil player from a great one.
If Phantom Step fails to land a parry, it still deals damage and reduces Break – just without the Ultimate charge bonus. The A3 Awakening (March of Machines) removes this penalty entirely by fully charging the Ultimate even on a failed parry, making her significantly easier to play.
What Is Insight?
Insight is a special debuff Daffodil places on enemies through her Ultimate. Here is what it does:
- While an enemy has Insight, any damage they take to their Break gauge is amplified.
- If the enemy enters the Break state while Insight is active, bonus Break Damage is dealt – a large hit that takes a significant chunk of HP.
- Insight is removed once the enemy enters Break. Each stack of Insight consumed adds one extra instance of Break Damage (with the right Awakenings).
The Insight + Break combination is Daffodil’s main burst payoff window. Activate her Ultimate to apply Insight, then push the enemy into Break to trigger the explosion.
Basic Attack – Still Waters
Daffodil performs up to 5 consecutive Chaos DMG hits with her twin blades. Clean, consistent ground combo. Holding Basic Attack during Still Waters triggers a whirlwind dash forward that deals AoE Chaos DMG and leaves behind marks. She also has an aerial plunge variant that deals AoE Chaos DMG on landing.
Redirect Skill – Resonance / Echoes
This is Daffodil’s core power-building tool. Here is how it works:
- Using the Redirect Skill activates Resonance, granting stacks that increase damage.
- Every time a teammate casts a Support Skill while Daffodil is off-field, Resonance DMG increases by 100% and Break increases by 250% per stack, up to 2 stacks.
- When Resonance reaches 2 stacks (maximum), it upgrades into Echoes – enhanced Redirect Skill that deals much heavier Chaos and Break damage.
This is why Daffodil stays off-field. Every Support Skill cast by a teammate while she is waiting makes her next Redirect Skill substantially more powerful. The longer she charges from the back, the harder she hits on entry.
Ultimate – Witness This Finale (Finale)
Daffodil casts Finale, dealing AoE Chaos DMG. It does two important things:
- Unseals her left eye – increases her damage for the duration.
- Applies Insight to nearby enemies.
- Unlocks Phantom Step for 2 charges. Casting Finale resets Phantom Step charges back to 2.
After Finale, you have two chances to use Phantom Step for extra Break and Chaos DMG. Use them immediately to maximise the Insight window before the enemy breaks.
Passive – Blade Draw
This passive triggers whenever Daffodil participates in a Discord reaction:
- Reduces the target’s Break cap by 10% for 30 seconds.
- When characters swap during combat, the Break cap is reduced by an additional 30%.
- This effect stacks up to 20% maximum total cap reduction on the initial Discord trigger, making enemies easier to Break on every subsequent rotation.
In practical terms: Daffodil in a Discord team breaks enemies faster and faster as the fight progresses. This is what makes her uniquely powerful in high-difficulty endgame content.
Passive – Cicada Shell
Increases Daffodil’s DEF by 50% for 5 seconds every time she casts Phantom Step. This makes her briefly very durable during her swap-in window, protecting her from counter-attacks while she executes her burst combo.
Best Arc (Weapon) for Daffodil in NTE
1. Youthful Fantasy (Best in Slot)
Youthful Fantasy is Daffodil’s signature Arc and her clear best option. Here is what it does:
- Increases Break Intensity by 60 – a substantial direct investment in her most important combat stat.
- The Black Tome passive activates once two chains are unsealed. Each chain is unleashed every time any character on the team casts a Support Skill. When the Black Tome is active for 20 seconds, it designates an enemy every 5 seconds and:
- Increases Daffodil’s Chaos DMG to designated enemies by 20%.
- Deals Chaos DMG equal to 200% of ATK to designated enemies whenever they take Break Damage.
The synergy is perfect. Allies cast Support Skills to build Daffodil’s Resonance stacks. Those same Support Skill casts also unseal the Black Tome chains. Both mechanics power up simultaneously from the same team action. It is a self-reinforcing loop that rewards the exact playstyle Daffodil is built for.
As a standard character, you can also obtain Youthful Fantasy through overworld progression later in the game.
2. Fluff of Fleetness (Strong Alternative)
Fluff of Fleetness increases ATK by 5% every second while Daffodil is the active character, stacking up to 5 times for a total of 25% ATK. It resets when she leaves the field. Since Daffodil’s on-field windows are short and burst-focused, she can ramp these stacks quickly during her swap-in rotation. It amplifies her mobility and Break throughput effectively when Youthful Fantasy is not available.
3. Shiny Days (F2P / A-Rank Alternative)
A strong A-Rank option. Shiny Days provides an ATK% bonus and Break Intensity – exactly the two stats Daffodil values most. It also increases damage against Broken enemies, which Daffodil triggers frequently. At higher refinement levels (Mixing Level 5), its Break Intensity can actually exceed a low-refinement Youthful Fantasy. A reliable budget pick that gets the job done.
4. Mind Royale (Ultimate Energy Focus)
Grants 10 Ultimate Energy when Daffodil casts her Redirect Skill (once per 20 seconds). It has solid Break Intensity and a high base ATK for an A-Rank Arc. The energy effect helps when you cannot reliably trigger Phantom Step parries but lack ATK% bonuses compared to better options. Use this as a temporary weapon while farming for Youthful Fantasy.
Best Cartridge (Console Build) for Daffodil in NTE
Diabolos (Best Choice)
Diabolos is Daffodil’s best Cartridge and the clear recommendation for every player. Here is the full breakdown:
- 2-piece (Epic) bonus: Chaos DMG +10%.
- 4-piece (Legendary) bonus: Ignores 12% of enemies’ Chaos RES permanently. After Daffodil participates in a Nova or Scorch reaction, this increases to 24% Chaos RES ignore for 20 seconds.
Since Daffodil is built into reaction teams (Discord requires Chaos + Psyche + Incantation, which always triggers Scorch or Nova along the way), the 24% Chaos RES ignore is almost always active. Run the full 4-piece set. A 2-piece setup gives higher raw Chaos DMG (+70% with maximum Type III Modules) but loses the RES ignore, which generally results in lower overall damage in reaction teams. The 4-piece is the better real-world choice.
Console Bonus
Daffodil’s Console grants a 10% Chaos DMG bonus per Type III Module equipped. Stack Type III Modules for maximum Chaos damage, then fill remaining slots with Type II Modules for supplementary stats.
Module Stats to Aim For
- Main stats: Break Intensity > Chaos DMG Bonus > CRIT Rate
- Substats: Break Intensity > Universal DMG Bonus > CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK%
Break Intensity is Daffodil’s most important stat. It directly powers her core mechanic. After obtaining 2 Awakenings (A3 and A5), Break Intensity increases in value even further to the point where it outperforms almost all other substat options. Prioritise it heavily.
Daffodil Skill Upgrade Priority
Upgrade Daffodil’s skills in this order:
- Redirect Skill (Resonance) first – This is her main damage and Break tool. Every level directly improves her Resonance/Echoes output and Break contribution.
- Ultimate (Finale) second – Powers up her Phantom Step window and Insight application. Higher level means more damage inside her burst phase.
- Basic Attack (Still Waters) third – Steady improvement to her consistent Chaos DMG.
- Support Skill last – Contributes additional Chaos output but lowest priority relative to the first three.
Daffodil Awakening Guide
Daffodil’s Awakenings significantly change how strong she is. Here is the recommended unlock order and what each one does.
A5 – Perfect Truth (Get This First)
Converts each stack of Insight into an additional instance of Break Damage when the enemy enters Break while under Insight. This is her best early Awakening. More Break Damage instances means significantly more burst damage at the exact moment enemies are staggered. The damage gain shows up immediately and scales well into later content. Take this first.
A4 – In Concealment
Increases Daffodil’s Break DMG by 15% for each stack of Insight on the enemy when they enter Break. This pairs directly with A5 – together, they create a “Break explosion” that is far greater than either Awakening alone. With both active, Insight stacks multiply both the number of Break DMG instances (A5) and the strength of each hit (A4). Take this second.
A3 – Assembly of Creations (March of Machines)
Prevents Insight from being removed once applied and allows it to stack up to 3 stacks. It also fully charges the Ultimate gauge even when Phantom Step fails to land a parry. This is a massive quality-of-life Awakening. It means you can fire your Ultimate simply by swapping in and using Phantom Step – no longer dependent on timing a perfect parry. Dramatically lowers operational difficulty and makes her much more consistent in all content.
A2 – Pupil
Enhances Daffodil’s Redirect Skill further. Each time a teammate casts a Support Skill, Resonance DMG increases by an additional 100% and Break by an additional 250%. This doubles the core charging mechanic from the base kit, making every off-field Support Skill cast twice as powerful for powering up her Resonance stacks. A strong damage Awakening for teams that use frequent Support Skills.
A1 – Yo, Captain! (Creator’s Congregation)
Strengthens and allows stacking of Insight effects. Its value grows in high-difficulty late-game encounters where maximising Insight stacks matters more. Take this after the earlier priorities are secured.
Best Team Comps for Daffodil in NTE
Daffodil’s element is Chaos. Her best reactions are Discord (Chaos + Psyche + Incantation triple-cycle) and Nova (Chaos + Psyche). Her Blade Draw passive specifically triggers on Discord, reducing the enemy Break cap over time for faster and faster Break cycles.
You want at least one Psyche and one Incantation character alongside her to build Discord. Daffodil handles the Chaos element and Break pressure while her teammates deal burst damage inside the Break windows she opens.
Best Team: Discord Break Core
- Daffodil – Break specialist. Phantom Step parry, Insight application, Break cap reduction via Blade Draw.
- Baicang – Main DPS. Deals peak burst damage inside Daffodil’s Break windows. His execute threshold instakills enemies below 10% HP during Judgment of Autumn. Baicang’s Scorch opener and Daffodil’s Break setup synergise perfectly.
- Sakiri – Buffer and crowd control. Her Ultimate pins enemies and applies a team-wide ATK buff. Her passive increases DoT damage taken by 25% per active DoT, stacking with Scorch to massively boost Baicang’s damage inside Break.
- Haniel – ATK buffer and Support Skill caster. Haniel’s frequent Support Skill usage charges both Daffodil’s Resonance stacks and the Black Tome chains on Youthful Fantasy simultaneously. Free character, making this team very accessible.
This is the most recommended team. Daffodil handles Break, Baicang handles burst damage, Sakiri amplifies DoT, and Haniel powers up the whole rotation. Together they trigger Discord for the Blade Draw Break cap reduction loop.
Alternative Team: Discord with Adler
- Daffodil – Break DPS.
- Baicang – Main DPS.
- Fadia – Tank. Absorbs 50% of damage taken by allies, keeping the team alive in difficult content. Also amplifies Nova reactions.
- Adler – Shielder and Incantation DoT. Triggers Discord alongside Daffodil and Baicang while providing shields to handle Baicang’s HP drain.
This team swaps Sakiri and Haniel for a more defensive setup. Fadia and Adler provide survivability for both Daffodil and Baicang, making it better for beginners or players still learning Daffodil’s parry timing.
Alternative Team: Nova Reaction Core
- Daffodil – Break DPS and Nova trigger.
- Haniel – Off-field Psyche buffer. Fires follow-up Psyche hits on Nova detonation.
- Aurelia – Psyche DPS. Her Harmonics passive fires 3 additional Psyche hits after Nova ends. Teams with Daffodil for the Nova reaction.
- Adler – Shield and Incantation support to complete the Discord triple-cycle.
A Nova-focused team that uses Daffodil’s Chaos element alongside Aurelia and Haniel’s Psyche to trigger Nova repeatedly. Daffodil handles Break while Aurelia deals sustained Psyche DPS.
Budget F2P Team
- Daffodil – Break DPS.
- Haniel – ATK buffer and Resonance stacker.
- Adler – Shield and Incantation DoT for Discord.
- Esper Zero – Cosmos DPS and energy support. Instantly triggers Esper Cycle with a single Redirect Skill use, providing Break pressure and healing support.
A fully free-to-play friendly team that does not require any limited S-Rank characters. Haniel and Adler are free story characters. Zero is the game’s protagonist. This combination still enables Discord reactions and Daffodil’s core Break loop.
Daffodil Combat Rotation
Daffodil’s rotation is built around one goal: charge up off-field, swap in at the right moment, parry an enemy attack, and unleash her burst inside the Insight + Break window. Here is the step-by-step loop:
- Keep Daffodil off-field while your active character runs their rotation. Every Support Skill cast by a teammate while she is in reserve builds her Resonance stacks and unseals Youthful Fantasy chains.
- Watch for enemy attacks that can be parried. When a strong, parryable attack is incoming, swap to Daffodil to trigger Phantom Step automatically.
- If Phantom Step lands a successful parry, her Ultimate (Finale) instantly charges to full. Immediately activate Finale.
- Finale applies Insight to nearby enemies and unlocks 2 Phantom Step charges. Use your Redirect Skill (Echoes if fully stacked) to deal heavy Chaos and Break damage.
- With Insight active, push the enemy into Break using Phantom Step charges and your Redirect Skill. When Break triggers, the Insight explosion fires – dealing massive bonus Break Damage instances.
- Use the Break window for your highest-damage teammates (like Baicang) to deal free burst damage against the staggered enemy.
- Swap Daffodil back out as soon as her on-field burst is done. Let teammates charge her Resonance stacks again while she is in reserve.
- Repeat the swap-in loop on the next parry opportunity.
Key tip: With the A3 Awakening (March of Machines), a failed Phantom Step parry still fully charges your Ultimate. This removes the hardest part of Daffodil’s kit. Once you have this Awakening, the rotation becomes much more consistent and forgiving for all skill levels.
Daffodil Pros and Cons
Pros
- Only Chaos Break specialist at launch – no other character fills her role in the current roster.
- Unique ability to reduce enemy Break cap over time through Blade Draw in Discord teams.
- Extremely efficient on-field time – needs only brief windows to do massive work, freeing up field time for other DPS.
- Scales well with Awakenings – each unlock meaningfully improves her damage output.
- A successful Phantom Step parry instantly charges her Ultimate, enabling rapid burst rotations.
- Strong in virtually every team that uses Incantation or Psyche characters due to Discord potential.
- Built-in DEF buff (Cicada Shell) during Phantom Step keeps her safe during swap-in windows.
Cons
- Timing-dependent – optimal play requires recognising parryable enemy attacks, which takes game knowledge.
- Damage windows are strict. Her burst is massive but short. Mistime it and you lose significant output.
- Insight is removed when the enemy enters Break, so Insight stacking (without A3) has a limited window.
- Less effective against enemies that do not have parryable attacks or highly mobile targets.
- Without A3 Awakening, failed parries mean no Ultimate charge – a significant inconsistency penalty in early progression.
Is Daffodil Worth Pulling in NTE?
Yes, and here is the honest case for her. Daffodil is the only character in the game who does Break-focused Chaos DPS at launch. If you want a Discord team, she is not just good – she is mandatory. There is no substitute for her kit at this stage of NTE’s roster.
She is worth pulling if:
- You want to run Discord reaction teams with Baicang, Sakiri, or Incantation/Psyche DPS.
- You enjoy timing-based, quick-swap gameplay that rewards read and reaction.
- You want a character who creates large free-damage windows for your whole team, not just herself.
- You are playing endgame content where fast Break cycles are crucial for clearing difficult encounters.
She is also a standard S-Rank character, available in the permanent pool. You can also select her through the 50-pull Standard Board selector. This means there is no limited banner pressure – you can pull for her whenever you are ready.

Final Thoughts on Daffodil NTE Build
Daffodil is one of the most unique characters in all of Neverness to Everness. She does not compete with traditional DPS characters – she plays an entirely different role. Her job is to shatter enemy shields, apply Insight, and create massive damage windows for her whole team. When she does her job well, the entire fight accelerates.
Use Youthful Fantasy as her Arc. Run Diabolos for the Cartridge. Get A5 (Perfect Truth) as your first Awakening, then A4 and A3 to complete her core kit. Pair her with Baicang and Sakiri for the strongest Discord team in the game right now.
She is not the easiest character to play at maximum efficiency. But once you learn her parry timing, her swap-in bursts feel genuinely satisfying – sharp, precise, and completely decisive. That is exactly who Daffodil is.
