    baicang nte neverness to everness

    TL;DR

    • Baicang is an S-Rank Incantation DPS and the only dedicated Incantation main DPS at NTE launch.
    • His kit revolves around Power Words – generate them with Basic Attacks and skills, then detonate them with his Ultimate.
    • Best Arc: Camellia Society – high ATK, CRIT Rate, and CRIT DMG stacks that sync with his self-HP-drain mechanic.
    • Best Cartridge: Crimson: Twin Butterflies – stacks ATK every time nearby enemies take Incantation DMG.
    • Best team: Baicang + Daffodill + Sakiri + Fadia/Adler for Scorch and Discord reactions.
    • He has a high skill ceiling – rewarding when you master timing, but weaker if you fumble combos.
    • Every Power Word generation costs 3% of current HP – always bring a healer or shielder.
    • Priority Awakenings: A6 (White Aspect) first – 30% CRIT Rate inside Judgment of Autumn is too large to skip.

Baicang Overview – Who Is He in NTE?

Baicang is an S-Rank Incantation DPS in Neverness to Everness. He is the Captain of ETD-4 within the Bureau of Anomaly Control. His teammates call him the “least captain-like captain” – outwardly relaxed and seemingly detached, but absolutely deadly in combat.

At launch, Baicang is the only dedicated Incantation main DPS in the entire NTE roster. This gives him a unique position in the meta. He has the highest single-target damage ceiling in the game when played at a high level, making him a premier boss killer and endgame carry for players who invest the time to learn him.

His entire kit is built around a system of Power Words – special marks he places on enemies through his attacks and skills. When he fires his Ultimate, those Power Words detonate for massive burst damage. Each Power Word he generates costs a portion of his own HP, which gives him a high-risk, high-reward identity unlike any other character in the game.

He is not beginner-friendly. His combos require precise inputs and you need to manage his HP actively. But when played correctly, he rivals the output of top limited S-Rank characters.

Baicang Skills Explained – The Power Word System

Understanding Power Words is essential before building Baicang. Everything in his kit feeds into this one mechanic.

    What Are Power Words?

Power Words are special marks that Baicang places on enemies through his attacks and skills. There are three types:

    • Bless – Generated by Basic Attacks (every 3 hits). When triggered during the Ultimate, it deals single-target damage and restores 5% of Baicang’s Max HP.
    • Silence – Generated by the Redirect Skill after a dodge. When triggered during the Ultimate, it deals heavy single-target Incantation DMG. Best for bosses.
    • Objurgate – Generated by the Redirect Skill after charged Basic Attacks (Formless or Unrestrained Words). When triggered during the Ultimate, it deals AoE Incantation DMG. Best for multiple enemies.

Generating any Power Word outside of the Ultimate consumes 3% of Baicang’s current HP. When his HP drops below 50%, this cost is halved to 1.5%. Up to 3 Power Words can be stacked at once by default (increased to 4 with the right Awakening). Every Power Word generated also boosts Baicang’s ATK by 6%, stacking up to 4 times for a total of 24% ATK.

Basic Attack – Walk the Talk

Baicang performs up to 5 consecutive hits dealing Incantation DMG. Every 3 hits generates one Power Word: Bless on the enemy. He also has two charged Basic Attack variants:

    • Formless Words – Hold Basic Attack after hits 1 or 2. Fires horizontal Incantation commands dealing AoE damage.
    • Unrestrained Words – Hold Basic Attack after hit 3. Fires vertical commands dealing AoE damage.

Both charged variants open up the Redirect Skill’s AoE form (Such Crime / Objurgate). This is how you build for multi-target situations.

Redirect Skill – Generous Guidance (Two Forms)

This is Baicang’s primary Power Word tool. It changes based on how you trigger it:

    • Silenced Thought – Press Redirect Skill after a Critical Dodge. Deals single-target Incantation DMG and places Power Word: Silence on the target. This is your boss-kill setup.
    • Such Crime – Press Redirect Skill after Formless Words or Unrestrained Words. Expands the damage area with AoE Incantation DMG and places Power Word: Objurgate near the target. Use this against groups.
    • Heart of Heaven and Earth – The base version, used when no condition is met. Pulls incantation words from ley lines and deals a standard Incantation hit to a target area.

    Critical Dodge Riposte

After a successful Critical Dodge, pressing Basic Attack triggers a knee strike. It deals AoE Incantation DMG to the target area, reduces their Break gauge, and generates 1 Power Word: Bless on hit. Do this consistently – it is free Bless generation and Break pressure in one input.

    Ultimate – Judgment of Autumn

This is Baicang’s main burst tool and the heart of his damage. Here is exactly what it does:

    • Releases a domain lasting 12 seconds (16 seconds with the right Awakening) that deals Incantation DMG over time to all enemies inside.
    • Triggers all stacked Power Words on entry for burst damage. Silence deals heavy single-target damage. Objurgate deals AoE. Bless heals Baicang for 5% Max HP.
    • Execute threshold: Enemies below 10% HP (bosses below 5% HP) are instantly killed. This is extremely powerful for clearing endgame content fast.
    • Death immunity: During Judgment of Autumn, Baicang can survive one fatal hit. The prevented damage is recorded and applied gradually over 10 seconds after the domain ends. This creates a heal-back window – make sure you have support ready for the aftermath.

The goal in every fight is simple: build three Power Words before using Judgment of Autumn, then detonate them inside the domain for maximum burst damage.

Support Skill – Break Time Over

Adds one additional instance of Incantation DoT. Useful for Scorch reaction teams but the lowest priority skill to upgrade.

Best Arc (Weapon) for Baicang in NTE

    1. Camellia Society (Best in Slot)

Camellia Society is Baicang’s signature Arc and his clear best option. It has one of the highest base ATK values in the game and a CRIT Rate substat. The Arc Effect is what makes it exceptional for him specifically:

    • Increases CRIT DMG by 12% for 5 seconds every time the wearer’s HP is reduced without taking damage – stacking up to 4 times.
    • It also unlocks the Silent Garden passive, which costs 5% of current HP to fire one of two random attacks every 25 seconds: either 5 hits of 24% ATK Incantation DMG (Harsh Rebuke) or 6 hits of 18% ATK Incantation DMG with the final hit dealing double damage (Incessant Nagging).

The CRIT DMG stacking from HP loss synergises directly with Baicang’s Power Word generation, which constantly drains his HP. Every Power Word he places builds his CRIT DMG at the same time. It is a perfect self-reinforcing loop. The one downside: Camellia Society requires you to bring a healer to offset both the HP drain from Power Words and the Arc’s own HP cost passive.

    2. Fluff of Ferocity (Strong Alternative)

Fluff of Ferocity has a lower base ATK than Camellia Society but adds an ATK% substat that Camellia Society lacks. It provides a strong unconditional damage increase and is a reliable choice if you do not have his signature Arc. Good for players who want consistent output without managing the healer requirement as strictly.

    3. A Time Will Come (F2P / Non-Signature Option)

An A-Rank Arc with a high base ATK and a CRIT Rate substat. The passive grants Baicang 10% ATK, 10% DEF, and 10% HP when the team has at least 3 different Esper Types. The HP bonus helps offset his self-damage. The team composition requirement is minor in practice since NTE teams naturally vary by element. A solid budget pick.

    4. Knight’s Candy

Builds up to 10 stacks of CRIT DMG (+4% per stack) every time Baicang lands a critical hit, resetting the duration on each new crit. Baicang’s high attack frequency means he can maintain near-full stacks easily. A strong F2P alternative if neither Camellia Society nor Fluff of Ferocity are available.

Best Cartridge (Console Build) for Baicang in NTE

    Crimson: Twin Butterflies (Best Choice)

Crimson: Twin Butterflies is the best Cartridge for Baicang. Here is the full breakdown:

    • 2-piece (Epic) bonus: Incantation DMG +10%.
    • 4-piece (Legendary) bonus: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 6% every time a nearby enemy takes Incantation DMG from the team, up to 6 stacks. Each stack lasts 10 seconds and stays active even when Baicang is off-field.

The 4-piece effect builds extremely fast in an Incantation-focused team. With Baicang constantly generating Incantation hits through Basic Attacks, Redirect Skills, and domain DoT, he reaches full 6 stacks (36% ATK total) quickly. Run the full 4-piece set for the best results.

    Console Bonus

Baicang’s Console grants an 8% CRIT Rate bonus for every Type III Module equipped. Prioritise Type III Modules to stack CRIT Rate, which reduces the stat budget you need to spend elsewhere on CRIT to hit your cap during Judgment of Autumn.

    Module Stats to Aim For

    • Main stats: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK% > Incantation DMG Bonus
    • Substats: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK% > Universal DMG > HP% (enough to survive self-drain)

Try to build enough HP% on secondary substats to survive the constant Power Word HP cost. Do not sacrifice too many offensive stats for it – the goal is just enough durability to function, not a tank build.

    Baicang Skill Upgrade Priority

Upgrade Baicang’s skills in this exact order:

    • Ultimate (Judgment of Autumn) first – This is everything. It drives burst damage, passive DoT, and amplifies all three Power Word detonations. Every level is a direct damage upgrade to your main window.
    • Redirect Skill (Generous Guidance) second – This is Baicang’s primary Power Word tool. It generates Silence and Objurgate and is the most versatile part of his kit.
    • Basic Attack (Walk the Talk) third – Used constantly in combos for Bless generation, but contributes less per upgrade level than the first two.
    • Support Skill (Break Time Over) last – Adds one additional Incantation DoT instance. Useful for Scorch reaction teams but the lowest upgrade priority overall.

    Baicang Awakening Guide

Baicang’s Awakenings unlock significant boosts to his kit. Here is the priority order and what each one does.

A6 – White Aspect (Priority One – Get This First)

Increases Baicang’s CRIT Rate by 30% during Judgment of Autumn. This is a mandatory first Awakening. A 30% CRIT Rate boost during your entire main damage window is massive. It removes most of the pressure on building CRIT Rate through modules and lets you shift more stat budget toward CRIT DMG and ATK. Do not take any other Awakening before this one.

    A2 – Soul Caller

Every Power Word generated increases Baicang’s ATK by 6%, stacking up to 4 times for a total of 24% ATK. Each stack lasts 10 seconds. This is the core sustained damage Awakening. Since Baicang constantly generates Power Words through his rotation, maintaining full stacks is easy in any extended fight.

A3 – Curses Spoken Into Being

Increases the maximum number of Power Words Baicang can stack from 3 to 4. This allows A2 to reach its full potential (4 stacks instead of 3) and lets you build more Power Words before entering the Ultimate for a bigger detonation burst. Take this after A6 and A2.

A5 – Extends Judgment of Autumn Duration

Extends the duration of Judgment of Autumn to 16 seconds (up from 12). More domain uptime means more damage rotations, more Power Word triggers, and more HP recovery from Bless inside the domain. A big quality-of-life and damage upgrade for extended boss encounters.

    A1 – Yo, Captain!

Triggering Silence during Judgment of Autumn increases Baicang’s next Skill damage by 30% (stackable). Triggering Objurgate reduces Skill cooldown by 4 seconds (stackable). High upside but requires specific Power Word execution to activate consistently. Pick this up after the must-have Awakenings are secured.

    A4 – Or Perhaps Blessings

Restores an additional 5% Max HP whenever any Power Word triggers during Judgment of Autumn. This synergises well if you are running Camellia Society, since it effectively offsets the Arc’s HP drain cost during your burst window. Lowest damage priority but improves survivability meaningfully.

Best Team Comps for Baicang in NTE

Baicang’s element is Incantation. His best reactions are Scorch (Incantation DoT) and Discord (Chaos + Psyche + Incantation triple-cycle). He also receives a 20% ATK bonus from his passive when teamed with specific ETD-4 faction members.

    Best Team: Scorch Discord Core

    • Baicang – Main DPS. Power Word burst and Incantation DoT.
    • Daffodill – Sub-DPS and Break specialist. Triggers Discord reaction alongside Baicang. Reduces the enemy Break cap for longer broken phases during Baicang’s execute window.
    • Sakiri – Buffer and crowd control. Her Ultimate pins enemies and applies a team-wide ATK buff. Increases DoT taken by the enemy by 25% for each active DoT, which massively amplifies Baicang’s Scorch damage in multi-DoT scenarios.
    • Fadia – Tank and survivability anchor. Absorbs 50% of incoming damage for allied characters, making Baicang’s HP management much safer. She also amplifies Nova cycle reactions in mixed teams.

This is the most recommended team. Daffodill procs Discord for amplified stagger while Sakiri’s CC holds enemies in place for Baicang’s domain. Fadia keeps Baicang alive through the self-HP drain and prevents him from triggering his own death immunity unnecessarily.

Alternative Team: ETD-4 Faction Synergy (Boss Killer)

    • Baicang – Main DPS.
    • Lacrimosa – Sub-DPS and Discord reaction trigger. Switching to Baicang while Lacrimosa is in Bat Form also enables a unique super-jump for mobility.
    • Skia – Stealth and quickswap buffs. Consistent buffs that stabilise Baicang’s rotation.
    • Fadia – Tank and emergency HP support.

This is the ETD-4 faction team. Full faction passives make rotations smoother and increase domain uptime. It is the meta boss-killing setup for high-level content.

Alternative Team: Reaction Focus with Haniel

    • Baicang – Main DPS.
    • Daffodill – Break and Discord trigger.
    • Haniel – ATK buffer and off-field support. Also provides the energy backbone to sustain Baicang’s costly Power Word rotations through her buff uptime.
    • Adler – Shield provider and Incantation DoT support. Shields offset Baicang’s constant self-HP drain without requiring a dedicated healer.

A more accessible option that does not require limited characters. Haniel keeps ATK buffs up while Adler handles survivability. Daffodill brings Break utility and the Discord reaction window.

    Budget / F2P Team

    • Baicang – Main DPS.
    • Haniel – ATK buffer.
    • Adler – Shield and Incantation DoT.
    • Edgar – Healing to cover Baicang’s self-HP costs safely.

    Baicang Combat Rotation

Baicang’s rotation is built around one goal: arrive at Judgment of Autumn with a full stack of Power Words, then trigger them inside the domain for maximum burst. Here is the step-by-step loop:

    1. Open with Basic Attacks (Walk the Talk) to start generating Power Word: Bless. Every 3 hits creates one Bless mark.
    2. Use Critical Dodge to trigger your Riposte – it deals AoE Incantation DMG, reduces enemy Break, and generates another Bless for free.
    3. After dodging, immediately press Redirect Skill (Silenced Thought) to place Power Word: Silence on the target for heavy single-target burst. Do this for bosses.
    4. For grouped enemies, use charged Basic Attacks (Formless or Unrestrained Words) then press Redirect Skill (Such Crime) to place Power Word: Objurgate for AoE damage.
    5. Once you have 3 Power Words stacked on the enemy, fire Judgment of Autumn. Inside the domain: trigger Silence for boss damage, Objurgate for mobs, and Bless for self-healing.
    6. Use the execute threshold actively. If an enemy is near 10% HP (5% for bosses), Judgment of Autumn kills them instantly. Save the domain for key enemy phases.
    7. After the domain ends, be mindful of the delayed damage from your death immunity block if it was triggered. Switch to a support character briefly if needed to recover.
    8. Rebuild Power Words and repeat.

Key tip: Intentionally letting Baicang’s HP drop below 50% halves the Power Word generation cost. This is part of his intended playstyle – do not panic when he is at low health during the rotation. Use the domain’s Bless healing and your support’s shields or heals to manage it.

    Baicang Pros and Cons

    Pros

    • Highest single-target damage ceiling among launch S-Rank DPS characters when played correctly.
    • Built-in execute mechanic for instant kills below HP thresholds – exceptional for boss phases.
    • Self-sustaining through Bless healing inside Judgment of Autumn – partially offsets HP drain.
    • Death immunity during Ultimate allows aggressive play in dangerous situations.
    • Flexible Power Words – Silence for bosses, Objurgate for AoE, giving him genuine versatility.
    • Only dedicated Incantation DPS at launch – future Incantation supports will benefit him first.
    • ATK stacking from Power Word generation rewards frequent skill use with compounding damage.

    Cons

    • High skill ceiling – combos require precise inputs and HP management. Noticeably weaker when fumbled.
    • Constant self-HP drain from Power Word generation – always needs a healer or shielder.
    • Moveset can feel clunky compared to smoother S-Rank DPS options like Nanally.
    • Delayed damage after death immunity can kill him post-domain if not managed carefully.
    • At launch, lacks dedicated Incantation support characters to fully unlock his potential.
    • Not beginner-friendly – not recommended as a first main DPS for new players.

Is Baicang Worth Pulling in NTE?

Baicang sits at A-tier in most launch tier lists – not because he is weak, but because the gap between his skill ceiling and ease of play is wide. Other S-Rank carries like Nanally perform at a high level with less execution overhead.

He is worth pulling and building if:

    • You enjoy technical, combo-driven gameplay and want to master a high-skill-ceiling character.
    • You want the best single-target boss damage in the game when properly played.
    • You are investing in Incantation damage long-term and want to be ready when dedicated Incantation supports release.
    • You need a second DPS for your second team and already have a carry for team one.

He is not the best pick if you want simple, forgiving damage output from day one. If you are newer to NTE and want a strong free carry to start with, check out our Chiz build guide – she is a free S-Rank DPS that is much more accessible to play.

How to Get Baicang in NTE

Baicang is a permanent standard S-Rank character. He is available in the standard gacha pool and can also be selected through the 50-pull selector on the Standard Board. This means you do not need to wait for a limited banner to get him. After completing 50 rolls on the Standard Board (at a 20% discount), you can choose him directly.

    Download and play NTE on:

    • Google Play Store (Android)
    • PlayStation Store (PS5)

Before pulling, stock up on free Riftcrystals with the latest NTE redeem codes.

Baicang Life Skill – Shop Management

Outside of combat, Baicang has Life Skills tied to shop management. Assigning him to a shop increases customer traffic and reduces ingredient consumption rate. At Life Skill Level 3, combos during Owner’s Selection do not break even when a customer’s patience runs out or when you hit them with the Hammer. This makes it easier to maintain combos and score higher in timed shop challenges.

Final Thoughts on Baicang NTE Build

Baicang is not for everyone. He demands patience, practice, and a willingness to manage his self-damage carefully. But when you get him right, there is no single-target boss killer in NTE that comes close to matching his ceiling.

Use Camellia Society for the Arc and run Crimson: Twin Butterflies as your Cartridge. Get A6 (White Aspect) as your first Awakening – the 30% CRIT Rate inside Judgment of Autumn is non-negotiable. Always pair him with either a healer or a shielder like Adler to offset his constant HP drain. Build Power Words before your Ultimate every single time.

Master the loop, manage the HP, and he will carry you through even the hardest content NTE has to offer.
