What Is the Cheese Camera in NTE?
The Cheese Camera is a special item in Neverness to Everness that lets you freeze a Wandering Puppet in place. It is part of the Lonely Player Anomaly Commission in Illusion Town, one of the longer and more layered anomaly quests in the game.
Cheese is added to your Important Items when you receive it. It is a one-time-use tool. Once you fire it, it is gone. So you must save it for exactly the right moment — the hallway in front of the Occult Clubroom, where a Wandering Puppet is moving too fast to catch without freezing it first.
To get Cheese, you need to find the Occult Club Student and meet him at three different locations around Clement Academy. Each time you meet him, he asks you a question about Cheese. You must pick the right answer, or you cannot move forward.
How To Enter Clement Academy in NTE
Clement Academy is inside Illusion Town in Hethereau. The school’s main entrance stays locked, so you cannot walk in through the front gate. Instead, go to the back of the school and look for a fence you can jump over. This is the only way to get inside.
Once you are in, head northeast of the Clement Academy logo on your map. You are looking for a building with open doors on both sides. Either door works — walk through whichever is closer to you.
Go to the middle of the building on the first floor. You will see a room with a large purple rug on the floor. That is the Occult Clubroom. You cannot miss it.

Occult Club Student Location 1 – The Occult Clubroom
Walk into the Occult Clubroom and talk to the student standing inside. Choose the dialogue option about Cheese when it appears. He will give you a long explanation about the camera and how special it is.
At this first meeting, he does not ask a question yet. He just tells you to find him around the school to prove you are worthy of borrowing Cheese. After the conversation ends, he will disappear from the room. Your next goal is to track him down.
Occult Club Student Location 2 – The Bleachers (Stands)
Leave the Occult Clubroom and use the eastern door, which leads toward the running track. Walk out and look ahead — you will see the bleachers (stands) in the distance. Go there and find the Occult Club Student sitting in the stands.
Talk to him again. He will tell you a story about Cheese, then ask his first question.

Question: What can Cheese do?
Right Answer: Time Stop
Pick “Time Stop” when it appears in the dialogue choices. This is the ability that makes Cheese useful for freezing fast-moving Wandering Puppets. Picking any other answer will not get you the camera, so make sure you choose this one.
Occult Club Student Location 3 – The Rooftop
After the bleachers conversation, the student moves again. This time, he goes up to the school rooftop. The rooftop is on the northwest side of the Clement Academy building — it is roughly on the opposite side from where you found him at the bleachers.
Head up to the rooftop and find him there. Talk to him again. He asks another question before continuing.
At this stop, he will expand on his story about Cheese and what the camera means to him. Sit through the dialogue or skip through it. Either way, you need to reach the question at the end.
Note: Some guides mention you should advance the in-game clock to around 19:00 (7 PM) to find him on the rooftop. If he is not there when you arrive, try adjusting the time using the in-game clock feature.
Occult Club Student Location 4 – The Basketball Court
After the rooftop, advance the in-game time to the next morning. The student’s final location is the basketball court. It is located east of the Clement Academy icon on your map, just before the running track area.
Go to the basketball court and talk to him. This is where he asks his second and final question before handing over Cheese.

Right Answer: Don’t use it, work harder on our own
This answer shows the student that you understand Cheese should not be misused. It is a tool for specific situations, not a shortcut to win every problem. Picking this answer proves you are responsible enough to borrow it.
After you answer correctly, the student hands over the Cheese Camera. It will appear in your Important Items in your inventory.
How To Use Cheese the Camera in NTE
Once you have Cheese, do not use it right away. Equip it from your inventory but do not press the trigger until you are in the right place.
The correct spot is the hallway in front of the Occult Clubroom. When you approach this hallway as part of the Lonely Player Anomaly Commission, you will see a puppet in the distance. As you walk closer, the puppet crumbles and vanishes, and you will keep getting knocked back by an invisible wind force. This is the Wandering Puppet moving at high speed through the hallway.
When you are at the doorway and can see the puppet or feel the invisible force, use Cheese. The camera will freeze time around the puppet, making it visible and catchable. That is your one and only chance, so do not waste it.
What If You Used Cheese Too Early?
If you accidentally fired the camera before the puppet was on screen, the quest may seem stuck. Do not panic and do not restart the entire commission. Instead, go stand near the school lockers and wait. The puppet will eventually reset and come back. Once it does, you can continue the quest without starting over from the beginning.
Tips for the Lonely Player Anomaly Commission
- Do the Cheese steps early. Get the camera before you try to hunt any Wandering Puppets. You will need it mid-quest.
- Pay attention to the clock. Some steps only trigger at specific times of day. The rooftop meeting is around 7 PM. The basketball court meeting is in the morning.
- Knock on the five Peepy wall cracks first. You need to wake Peepy at five spots in the school before the full quest opens up. Knock three times on each crack. You can read more in the Peepy locations guide.
- Lead the Troubled Student to the Occult Club. You will meet a confused student near the track. Choose “I’ll show you the way” and walk her slowly to the clubroom. She needs to keep pace with you, so do not run.
- Help the Student Who Lost Their Diary. Use Empathy Eye Drops during the recollection sequence and report seeing a doll covering its face when prompted.
- Wandering Puppets appear at night. The puppets are only active between 8 PM and 6 AM. If you can’t find a puppet, check the time first.
