Who Is Hotori in NTE?
Hotori is an S-Rank limited character in Neverness to Everness. She is the boss of the Eibon Antique Shop and belongs to the Cosmos element. She became available in the second half of the 1.0 update.
Hotori is not your typical DPS. She plays as a burst sub-DPS who records ally skills and then unleashes them all at once during her Time Stop Ultimate. Her playstyle rewards patience, smart rotations, and good team planning.
She has a unique energy mechanic called the Non-Closed Timepiece. This bar fills passively at 6 energy per second and caps at 120. Once it reaches 60, she can use her Redirect Skill. Once full at 120, she can cast her Ultimate.

Hotori Skills Explained
Understanding how Hotori’s kit works is the key to building her correctly. Here is a quick breakdown of each skill.
Basic Attack – Misty Moon Style
Hotori attacks with a decorated umbrella. This is a smooth 5-hit Cosmos combo. It also includes a hold variant called Rippling Waves which does a 4-hit AoE dash. Basic attacks help build her Non-Closed Timepiece energy passively.
Redirect Skill – Present Replay
This skill costs 60 energy. Hotori deals 7 hits of Cosmos damage and enters an observation state for 5 seconds. During this window, she can record up to 3 Support or Redirect Skills from different allies. Each character can only be recorded once per use. Recorded skills are replayed during her Ultimate.
Ultimate – World’s Tide
This requires 120 energy. When activated, time stops around Hotori for 10 seconds. All recorded ally skills are replayed at once. She then draws a katana from her umbrella and switches to a different attack mode with a strong damage combo. This is where most of her damage happens.
Support Skill
This is the lowest priority skill to upgrade, but it still contributes to team synergy and Esper Cycle generation.
Best Arc for Hotori in NTE
Marching Beyond Time (Best in Slot)
This is Hotori’s signature Arc and her clear best option. It increases her ATK by 16% and gives her the Wastelab and Wastetime mechanic. Each time an ally uses a Redirect or Support Skill, you gain one Wastetime stack, up to 3. When Hotori uses her Ultimate with all 3 stacks, her Ultimate CRIT DMG goes up by 48% and she gains an extra 12% DEF ignore for 3 seconds.
To unlock its full bonus, always record 3 different ally skills before casting her Ultimate. This fits perfectly with her normal rotation.
Fluff of Fearlessness (Best F2P Alternative)
This is an S-Rank Arc available from the Battle Pass. It gives her an ATK boost and raises CRIT Rate after she uses her Ultimate. While it is not as strong as her signature, it is a solid second option for players who did not pull Marching Beyond Time.
Rain That Shook the World
Another viable S-Rank option. It increases ATK by 15% as a base stat. Using both a Redirect Skill and an Ultimate within 15 seconds also adds a 10% Boss DMG bonus. This fits her standard rotation well.
Day Off (Free S-Rank)

The Forgotten (A-Rank Option)
This is the best A-Rank Arc you can use on Hotori. It gives HP% as the main stat and provides an ATK boost while Hotori stays above 50% HP. The HP main stat does not help her scaling, so only use this early on when better options are not ready yet.
Best Cartridge for Hotori in NTE
Lost Radiance (4-Piece) – Best in Slot
Lost Radiance is Hotori’s best Cartridge set with no close competition. Here is what it does:
- 2-piece bonus: Cosmos DMG +10%
- 4-piece bonus (Legendary): Ignores 25% of enemy DEF for 20 seconds after using her Ultimate
Since all of Hotori’s big damage happens right after she casts her Ultimate, this DEF ignore kicks in at exactly the right moment. It also stacks with her Marching Beyond Time Arc, which adds another 12% DEF ignore. If you have her A6 Awakening, you get a further 30% on top of that, bringing total DEF ignore to around 79%.

Best Module Stats for Hotori
Modules are how you fine-tune Hotori’s stats. Since almost all her damage comes from her Ultimate during Time Stop, you want to push ATK, Cosmos DMG, and CRIT as high as possible.

Hotori is a Cosmos Esper. She works best with Anima teammates because Cosmos and Anima together trigger the Blossom Cycle Reaction. This reaction deals extra AoE damage and adds another layer of burst on top of her Ultimate window.

Hotori Rotation Guide
Hotori’s rotation is the most important thing to understand. Getting it right can almost double the damage you deal compared to pressing skills randomly.
Here is the basic rotation step by step:
- Enter combat. Let the Non-Closed Timepiece fill to 60 passively (10 seconds from zero).
- Use Basic Attacks and Rippling Waves to fill energy faster.
- Activate Present Replay (costs 60 energy) to enter recording mode.
- Switch to each ally and use their strongest Support or Redirect Skill (record 3 total).
- Wait for energy to reach 120.
- Cast World’s Tide — time stops for 10 seconds.
- All recorded skills replay automatically. Attack with her katana combo during the window.
- Return to step 1 and repeat.
With A3 Awakening, you get an energy refund after Present Replay, which speeds up the cycle. Always try to record 3 skills before every Ultimate to get the full Marching Beyond Time bonus.
Hotori Awakening Priority
Awakenings are unlocked using duplicate copies of Hotori. You do not need to unlock them in order. Here is the recommended unlock sequence based on which Awakenings give the biggest gains:
- A6 – First priority. Grants 30% DEF ignore during Time Stop. This is the biggest damage spike by far and stacks with her Arc and Cartridge.
- A2 – Second. Provides a notable damage increase tied to her support skill loop.
- A1 – Third. Increases damage during Time Stop by 12% for each recorded skill (up to 3 stacks). This is a direct burst damage boost.
- A5 – Fourth. Useful for energy efficiency and rotation smoothness.
- A3 – Fifth. Gives energy refund after Present Replay, reducing time between Ultimate casts.
- A4 – Last. The weakest Awakening in her kit.
At A6 combined with Marching Beyond Time and Lost Radiance, Hotori can hit close to 79% total DEF ignore — making her one of the hardest-hitting burst characters in the current roster.
Hotori Skill Upgrade Priority
Upgrade her skills in this order:
- Ultimate first — this is where the majority of her damage comes from
- Redirect Skill second — this controls recording and builds into the Ultimate
- Basic Attack third — contributes damage during Time Stop combos
- Support Skill last — least impactful on her overall output
Is Hotori Worth Pulling?
Yes, Hotori is absolutely worth pulling if you enjoy burst playstyles. She brings something no other character in NTE currently does — a 10-second Time Stop window where your whole team’s skills fire at once. That kind of synchronized burst is one of the highest damage ceilings in the 1.0 roster.
However, she is not the right pick for everyone. If you want a simple DPS who deals damage constantly without setup, she may feel frustrating to learn. But if you enjoy managing rotations and are willing to practice the Present Replay timing, she pays off in a big way.
