TL;DR
- The map in NTE starts covered in fog of war. You must unlock it district by district.
- Activate all 5 Wertheimer Towers — one in each district — to fully reveal the map.
- Unlock ReroRero Phone Booths for fast travel across all areas of Hethereau.
- Towers also act as fast travel points and HP restore stations.
- Unlocking all 5 towers earns you the Free Pass trophy/achievement.
- Get a proper vehicle before trying to unlock all areas — the starting scooter is too slow.
How the Map Works in NTE
When you first start playing Neverness to Everness, the city of Hethereau is almost completely covered in fog of war. Only a few key markers are visible and the roads are mostly hidden. You cannot see side quests, shops, anomaly commissions, or points of interest in areas you have not revealed yet.
The city is split into five main districts. Each district has its own Wertheimer Tower. Activating a tower removes the fog from that district and opens up the full map for that area. To see the entire map, you need to find and activate all five towers.
There are two types of map unlock points in NTE:
- Wertheimer Towers — One per district. Reveals the fog of war for the entire district. Also works as a fast travel point and HP restore station.
- ReroRero Phone Booths — Scattered across every district. These are your main fast travel anchors. You must physically visit each one to activate it. There are 114 fast travel points total across the whole map.
How to Activate a Wertheimer Tower
Wertheimer Towers are tall structures with a red glowing top. They are hard to miss. Even while a district is still fogged, the tower icon will appear on your map as a white spire inside a circle. You can track it directly from the map and follow the blue line to reach it.

Here is how to activate one:
- Walk to the base of the tower and face the front wall.
- Look for a golden triangle inside white concentric circles at the base.
- Stand directly in front of it and press F on PC (or the interact button on console/mobile) to Sync.
- A short animation plays, the fog clears across the district, and the tower becomes a fast travel point.
If the interact prompt does not appear, you are likely not standing close enough to the front of the tower. The interaction zone is tied to the symbol on the front wall, not the sides or back. Reposition and try again.
Once activated, the tower also restores your team’s HP. You can return to it any time to heal up for free.

All 5 Wertheimer Tower Locations in NTE
There is one Wertheimer Tower in each of the five districts of Hethereau. Here is a breakdown of where to find each one:

1. Bridge Crossings Wertheimer Tower
This is the first district most players explore. The Wertheimer Tower here is introduced during the Prologue 2 quest called Good Business, Better Treasure, when you arrive in the city with Mint. The synchronization mechanic is taught here, so you will likely activate this one as part of the story without even trying.
Bridge Crossings is a historic and quieter district with 2 ReroRero Phone Booths, 10 Anomaly Commissions, and 37 Oracle Stones to collect.
2. Unheard Shores Wertheimer Tower
Unheard Shores is the coastal district of Hethereau. It is a scenic area along the ocean, away from the city bustle. The Wertheimer Tower here is easy to spot near the shoreline. Head here after Bridge Crossings to open up the ocean-side parts of the map.
Notable landmark: The Tikal Bridge in Unheard Shores closely resembles the real-life Golden Gate Bridge.
3. Illusion Town Wertheimer Tower
Illusion Town is one of the most lively and mysterious districts in Hethereau. It is home to Tamamochi Market Street and Nacupeda Park. The Wertheimer Tower here is a central reference point for exploring the area. Several Anomaly Commissions and side stories branch out from near this tower.
4. New Herland District Wertheimer Tower
New Herland is the city’s business and entertainment hub. It is busy, bright, and packed with things to do. The Wertheimer Tower here is easy to reach via the main road. Once activated, teleport here to get to the Midas Tower ReroRero Phone Booth — one of the most rewarding and challenging fast travel unlocks in the game. Head north from the New Herland Tower to reach the famous Kino Avenue crossing, which resembles Tokyo’s Shibuya Crossing.
5. Miguel District Wertheimer Tower
Miguel District is the scenic, mountain-adjacent area in Hethereau. It houses the Skytower, Caltrop Lake, and the Noetic Bridge shopping district. The tower here is located east of Caltrop Lake. Nearby you will also find a train station to the north and several hidden collectibles just a short walk away.
Once you activate all five towers, you will earn the Free Pass trophy/achievement and the full map of Hethereau will be revealed.
How to Unlock ReroRero Phone Booths
ReroRero Phone Booths are your main fast travel system in NTE. There are 114 of them spread across all six regions of the map. Unlike Wertheimer Towers, they do not reveal any fog of war — they just give you a fast travel point for that specific location.
To unlock a Phone Booth:
- Walk up to the phone booth and interact with it.
- That is it. It is now an active fast travel point you can use from anywhere on the map.
Phone Booths are typically found at major intersections, near landmarks, and along busy streets. They appear as small icons on the mini-map. Once a Wertheimer Tower reveals the district, nearby Phone Booth icons become visible so you can track them down.
Each Phone Booth you activate adds Footprint Points to that district, helping you work toward 100% district completion.
The Hardest Phone Booth to Unlock: Midas Tower
The Midas Tower ReroRero Phone Booth in New Herland District is one of the most challenging fast travel points to unlock. It sits at the very top of one of the tallest buildings in Hethereau. Simply climbing the outside of the tower is very slow because you have to conserve stamina the entire way up.
The better method is to enter through the main gate at the base of Midas Tower, track the Phone Booth icon from your map, and follow the blue line inside. There is a platforming section using floating debris near the top. Climb through it, and activate the Phone Booth at the summit. You will earn the 365 Miles Achievement and +25 Footprint Points for New Herland District as a reward.
What Is Footprint Points and Why It Matters
Each district in Hethereau has a Footprint Points percentage that tracks how much of that area you have explored and completed. It goes up when you:
- Activate Wertheimer Towers
- Unlock ReroRero Phone Booths
- Collect Oracle Stones
- Complete Anomaly Commissions
- Open Gifts from 21 (treasure chests)
- Complete Side Quests in that district
Working toward 100% in each district gives you extra rewards and helps you stay on top of all the content Hethereau has to offer. You can check your current Footprint Points for each district by opening the map and checking the region info.
Tips for Unlocking the Full Map Fast
Here are a few tips to make the process faster and smoother:
- Get a proper vehicle first. The default scooter you start with is too slow for covering all five districts efficiently. Get a faster car before you go on your tower run. Check our guide on how to get a car in NTE if you have not done this yet.
- Follow the map icons through the fog. Even in fogged areas, Wertheimer Tower icons are visible on the map. You can set them as a destination and follow the blue navigation line directly to them.
- Unlock Phone Booths along the way. Every time you pass a Phone Booth while traveling to a tower, stop and interact with it. This saves you from having to backtrack later.
- Use towers to heal for free. Wertheimer Towers restore your HP when you interact with them. Use them as free heal points whenever you are exploring nearby.
- Check your Footprint Points often. Open the map and look at district completion percentages to see which areas still need exploration work.
- Side quests unlock after fog clears. Blue exclamation mark icons for side quests only appear on the map after you activate the Wertheimer Tower in that district. Clear the fog first, then come back to do quests.
What Unlocks After You Reveal the Full Map
Once you activate all five Wertheimer Towers and start filling in Phone Booths across districts, a lot of content opens up:
- All 21 Side Quests appear as blue exclamation marks on the map
- Anomaly Commission locations become visible across every district
- Oracle Stone locations are easier to spot and track
- Gifts from 21 treasure chests and other collectibles show up on the map
- Fast traveling becomes much more efficient with a full network of Phone Booths
It is one of the best early investments of your time in NTE. Doing this before anything else makes every other part of the game significantly easier.
