Acheron
Emanator of Nihility · Galaxy Ranger
S+ TIER DPSThe Sword That Splits the Crimson Shore
Acheron is a 5-star Lightning Nihility character and one of the most devastating DPS units ever released in Honkai: Star Rail. Unlike conventional damage dealers, she has no Energy Gauge—instead she charges her Ultimate via a unique stack mechanic called Slashed Dream. Every debuff inflicted on enemies (by her or her teammates) generates a Slashed Dream stack. At 9 stacks, she unleashes her catastrophic Ultimate: “Slashed Dream Cries in Red.”
Her Ultimate is a spectacle of destruction—three targeted Rainblade strikes (each removing up to 3 Crimson Knot stacks for massive bonus damage), followed by a sweeping Stygian Resurge AoE finisher. Critically, her Talent reduces enemy Toughness regardless of Weakness Type, making her effective against any enemy. She also shreds All-Type RES by 25% during her Ultimate, amplifying the entire team’s output.
Her core Bonus Ability (“The Abyss”) grants 115% DMG increase with one Nihility teammate, or 160% DMG with two—making team composition critical. At E2, the two-Nihility requirement drops to one, dramatically improving team flexibility. As of Version 4.0, Acheron remains a top-tier hypercarry and is also available as a free pick from the 4.0 character gift for eligible players.
Best Light Cones
Along the Passing Shore
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Signature · BISBest-in-Slot by a wide margin. Grants 36% CRIT DMG and applies Mirage Fizzle—a debuff that increases wearer’s DMG by 24% and Ultimate DMG by an additional 24% to the afflicted target. Crucially, Mirage Fizzle counts as a debuff stack for Slashed Dream, accelerating her Ultimate rotation. At S1, it’s a massive damage lead over all alternatives. If you pull Acheron, pulling her signature significantly raises her ceiling.
Boundless Choreo
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4-Star · Strong AltBest available 4-star alternative. Increases DMG dealt to debuffed enemies and provides CRIT DMG. Pairs perfectly with Acheron’s debuff-stacking playstyle. Obtainable through the Stellar Warp and can be superimposed for stronger effect. At S5, it performs significantly better than most other 4-star options.
Good Night and Sleep Well
⭐⭐⭐⭐ F2P AccessibleSolid budget option. Scales DMG based on the number of debuffs on enemies—with Acheron’s team constantly applying debuffs, it achieves strong uptime. Requires S5 to compete effectively. At max superimposition, it performs roughly 13–14% below the signature, making it a reasonable investment for players without the 5-star.
In the Name of the World
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Generalist AltViable 5-star alternative from the Stellar Warp pool. Provides DMG%, CRIT DMG, and effect hit rate buffs when targeting debuffed enemies. Useful if you don’t have her signature and already own this from the general banner. Decent performance, though it lacks the Slashed Dream stack generation of Along the Passing Shore.
Best Relics & Ornaments
🥇 4-Piece: Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters (BiS)
The undisputed best relic set for Acheron. Her debuff-centric team means enemies virtually always carry 2–3 debuffs, keeping all bonuses active. The doubled CRIT DMG after debuff application aligns perfectly with her Skill usage. Farm this set from the Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Holy Hymn.
🥈 4-Piece: Band of Sizzling Thunder (Alt)
A strong alternative if you have exceptional substats on these pieces. The 10% Lightning DMG is always active, and the ATK boost from Skill aligns with her rotation. Slightly behind Pioneer Diver in most scenarios but competitive with great substats.
🌐 Planar Ornaments
📊 Target Stats (Recommended)
Main Stats: Head = HP% | Hands = ATK% | Body = CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG | Boots = ATK% (or SPD) | Sphere = Lightning DMG% (or ATK%) | Rope = ATK%
Note: ATK% Sphere is slightly preferred over Lightning DMG% in high-buff teams due to DMG% saturation in her kit.
Trace Priority
- Ultimate (Slashed Dream Cries in Red): Acheron’s entire damage revolves around her Ultimate. Every level dramatically increases Rainblade and Stygian Resurge multipliers. Max this first, always.
- Talent (Atop Rainleaf Hangs Oneness): Governs the All-Type RES shred during Ultimate and Slashed Dream stack generation from team debuffs. Critical for both speed and damage amplification.
- Skill (Octobolt Flash): Adds 1 Slashed Dream stack and applies Crimson Knot. Upgrade for higher damage multipliers on the skill hit itself. Secondary to Ult and Talent but important for stack building.
- Basic ATK: Lowest priority. Acheron rarely uses Basic ATKs in optimal rotations—she should be Skill-spamming to generate stacks as fast as possible.
⚡ Key Bonus Abilities (Traces)
A2 – Extinguished Afterglow: At the start of her Ultimate, reduces all enemies’ All-Type RES by 25% — this is a massive team-wide DMG amplifier active during her entire ult sequence.
A4 – The Abyss: With 1 Nihility ally → +115% DMG. With 2 Nihility allies → +160% DMG. This is why team building around Nihility is non-negotiable at E0.
A6 – Discordant Escape: After each Rainblade hit removes Crimson Knot, her DMG increases by 30% per stack removed (up to +90%) for 3 turns. Maximizing Crimson Knot stacking before Ult is essential.
Eidolons
E1 – Silenced Sky Spake Sooth ⭐ Strong
Grants +18% CRIT Rate when attacking debuffed enemies. Since debuffs are always active in her teams, this is an effective permanent +18% CRIT Rate boost—dramatically reducing relic pressure and significantly increasing damage. A notable and efficient Eidolon.
E2 – Mute Thunder in Still Tempest 🌟 Game-Changer
Reduces the Nihility requirement for “The Abyss” from 2 to 1. Additionally, Acheron automatically generates 1 Slashed Dream at the start of her turn. This single Eidolon completely transforms her team flexibility—she can now run only one Nihility support alongside any sustain, enabling stronger team compositions. Widely considered her most impactful Eidolon after E0.
E4 – Shrouded in Tempest Twilight
When Acheron uses her Ultimate and at least one enemy has been affected by Crimson Knot, Acheron’s DMG increases by 8% for every Crimson Knot removed, lasting 3 turns. Further amplifies her already explosive damage ceiling during Ultimate sequences.
E6 – Apocalypse, the Blooming Nemesis
Acheron’s Skill no longer costs Skill Points, and each Rainblade hit during her Ultimate now deals an additional Lightning instance equal to 50% of her ATK. A substantial endgame boost, though E2 is the major power spike most players target.
💡 Eidolon Pull Priority
E0 is already excellent. If you’re investing further, E1 is a strong quality-of-life and damage improvement. E2 is the most transformative—it’s practically a different character in terms of team building freedom. Beyond E2, returns diminish unless you’re a committed whale.
Best Team Compositions
⚡ Premium Nihility Hypercarry (E0)
The current best-in-slot team for Acheron at E0. Jiaoqiu applies vulnerability debuffs and generates Slashed Dream stacks every time an enemy acts while his Ultimate field is active—accelerating Acheron’s ult to near-every-other-turn frequency. Cipher is the newest premier Nihility support who generates additional stacks and amplifies debuff synergies. Aventurine provides defensive coverage via shields that also count as debuffs (via Trend ornament). This team consistently 2-cycles Memory of Chaos bosses and is the competitive benchmark.
🗡️ Jiaoqiu + Pela (Accessible Premium)
Extremely strong and accessible. Jiaoqiu remains the premier Nihility debuffer. Pela is a free-to-play 4-star who applies DEF reduction and constantly refreshes debuffs for Slashed Dream generation—she’s SP-positive and incredibly efficient. Gallagher sustains the team while his burn debuff provides an additional stack. This team reliably hits over 1.5–2 million damage per Ultimate and is achievable for most players.
🌑 Black Swan + Kafka DoT Hybrid
A unique hybrid team where both Black Swan and Kafka are Nihility units—automatically satisfying Acheron’s 2-Nihility requirement for the full 160% DMG bonus. Both characters apply numerous DoT debuffs that constantly feed Acheron’s Slashed Dream stacks, enabling extremely fast Ultimate rotations. Black Swan’s AoE DoT and Kafka’s shock application make this team exceptional in multi-enemy content like Pure Fiction as well as standard endgame.
🎯 Silver Wolf + Pela (Budget F2P)
A powerful budget composition. Silver Wolf implants Lightning Weakness on any enemy (making Acheron’s toughness break more impactful), reduces DEF, and applies debuffs efficiently. Combined with Pela‘s consistent DEF shred, this duo can reach near-100% DEF reduction on single targets—amplifying Acheron’s damage enormously. Both are F2P-friendly 4-stars. This is an excellent team for players without premium Nihility options.
Gameplay Tips & Rotation
Core Rotation
Acheron’s optimal rotation is simple but important to execute correctly:
- Use Skill on the priority target to apply Crimson Knot and gain 1 Slashed Dream.
- Let teammates debuff enemies to build remaining Slashed Dream stacks (each debuff = 1 stack).
- Before using Ultimate, ensure the main target has maximum Crimson Knot stacks (9) for peak damage.
- Activate Ultimate → assign all 3 Rainblades to the boss target → Stygian Resurge AoE finisher.
- Repeat—aim for an Ultimate every 2–3 turns with proper team support.
💡 Acheron Pro Tips
Crimson Knot stacking: When an enemy dies, its Crimson Knot transfers to another—use this to keep stacks consolidated on the main boss target in multi-enemy fights.
Debuff sustains: Gallagher equipping Trend of the Universal Market planar set applies burn on any heal, passively generating Slashed Dream stacks while keeping the team alive.
Technique: Acheron’s Technique instantly kills lower-ranked enemies before combat—great for saving skills at the start of stages.
SPD tuning: Prioritize getting Jiaoqiu or debuff supports to act before Acheron so stacks are built before her turn, enabling a faster first Ultimate.
Acheron vs Other DPS
vs Firefly (Fire Break DPS)
Firefly dominates Break-centric teams and excels in Super Break compositions with Ruan Mei. Acheron excels in debuff-heavy Nihility teams and performs better against non-breakable or high-HP bosses. Acheron has broader sustain flexibility and deals competitive damage without needing Break mechanics. Different niches—both are top-tier picks depending on team investment.
vs Feixiao (Wind Follow-Up DPS)
Feixiao is the premier Follow-Up Attack hypercarry, excelling in FuA compositions with Robin and Aventurine. Acheron excels in burst damage per rotation through her Ultimate. Acheron has a slight advantage in single-target boss scenarios; Feixiao has superior AoE FuA throughput. Both occupy S+ tier but cater to different team styles.
vs The Herta (Ice AoE Erudition)
The Herta dominates multi-target and Pure Fiction thanks to her stacking AoE mechanics. Acheron excels in single-target and boss scenarios with her concentrated burst. The Herta requires specific Erudition support teams; Acheron’s Nihility requirement is more readily met. Both are current meta-defining DPS units—the choice depends on available supports and content type.
Should You Pull Acheron?
✅ Absolutely Pull Her if:
- You want a top-tier Lightning DPS who ignores Weakness requirements
- You have Jiaoqiu or Black Swan to pair with her
- You’re available as a 4.0 free character gift recipient—claim her immediately
- You want a character with one of the highest damage ceilings in the game
- You enjoy flashy, high-impact Ultimate gameplay
⚠️ Consider Carefully if:
- You lack Nihility teammates (at E0, 2 Nihility units are needed for max buff)
- You don’t plan to pull her signature Light Cone (performance gap is real)
- You already have strong DPS options and limited resources
Final Verdict: Acheron is an S+ tier hypercarry who has remained meta-defining since Version 1.6 and continues to dominate in Version 4.0. Her unique stackless Ultimate, team-wide RES shred, and extraordinary damage ceiling make her one of the most rewarding characters to build. If you receive her from the 4.0 gift, she is an exceptional value. For players who enjoy high-octane burst DPS gameplay, Acheron is one of the best long-term investments in Honkai: Star Rail.
