Kafka Version 3.4 Buff – What Changed

Basic ATK – Midnight Tumult

Deals Lightning DMG to a single enemy. Low priority in her rotation. Use it only when you are Skill Point negative and need to generate resources before using her Skill again.

Skill – Caressing Moonlight

Kafka’s Skill is her primary damage action. It deals Lightning DMG in a Blast pattern — the center target takes full damage and immediately triggers all active DoT effects on them for their full damage. Adjacent targets also take damage and have their DoTs detonated at a lower multiplier. After the 3.4 rework, all three targets hit by the Blast now benefit from full DoT detonation. This costs 1 Skill Point per use.

The key mechanic here is DoT detonation. Instead of waiting for DoTs to tick at the start of the enemy’s turn, Kafka forces them to deal their full damage immediately. This is why DoT teams are actually burst teams — they front-load all their damage inside Kafka’s turns rather than spreading it across the enemy’s action cycle.

Ultimate – Twilight Trill

Deals Lightning DMG to all enemies, applies Shock to all of them, and immediately triggers all active DoT effects — Burn, Bleed, Wind Shear, and Shock — across the entire enemy lineup. This is a full team-wide DoT detonation. The Shock Kafka applies through her Ultimate has a 290% ATK multiplier and ticks for 2 turns. After Version 3.4, the detonation is no longer limited to Shock alone, meaning Kafka’s Ultimate amplifies every DoT source from every teammate on the field simultaneously.

Talent – Gentle but Deadly

Whenever any ally (except Kafka) uses an attack, Kafka fires a follow-up attack that deals Lightning DMG, detonates all DoTs on the target, and has a high base chance to apply Shock. This follow-up has up to 3 charges (with the Thorns bonus trace unlocked). After the 3.4 rework, this triggers on every type of ally attack — Skill, Ultimate, follow-up — not just Basic ATKs. Technique – Mercy Is Not Forgiveness

2. Patience Is All You Need (5-Star Signature)

Kafka’s original signature light cone remains a strong option. It boosts all DMG dealt, increases her SPD by up to 24% (stacking 3 times after each attack), and has a 100% base chance to apply Erode — a DoT that counts as Shock — to enemies not yet afflicted. The SPD stacking lets Kafka act more frequently, which means more follow-up detonations. A solid choice if you already have it, but Before the Tutorial Mission Starts actually edges it out in most current team setups due to the Energy return enabling more Ultimate detonations.

3. Good Night and Sleep Well (4-Star – Flex Option)

Gives DMG dealt boosts based on how many debuffs the enemy has. Since Kafka’s teams stack multiple DoT types, this cone often hits its full bonus. A reliable budget pick before you have access to Before the Tutorial Mission Starts.

4. Eyes of the Prey (4-Star – EHR Option)

Gives substantial Effect Hit Rate and DoT DMG. Works well if you are struggling to hit the 75% EHR threshold for Kafka’s A2 ATK buff. Not optimal for the Energy rotation that Before the Tutorial Mission Starts enables, but a solid stat stick for consistent DoT application.

Best Relics for Kafka in HSR 4.3

Best 4-Piece Set: Eagle of Twilight Line

This is the recommended best-in-slot set for Kafka in StarGuide and Icy Veins’s current meta analysis. The 2-piece gives 10% Wind DMG bonus (not ideal but acceptable). The critical 4-piece effect grants Kafka a 25% Action Advance after she uses her Ultimate — effectively giving her 33% more turns per cycle when her Ultimate is cycling every turn. More turns means more Skill uses, more DoT detonations, and more follow-up triggers. Combined with Before the Tutorial Mission Starts’s Energy restoration, Kafka can loop her Ultimate consistently enough for the 4-piece to fire almost every cycle.

Alternative: Prisoner in Deep Confinement (4-Piece)

The best set for a personal DPS-focused Kafka build. The 2-piece gives 12% ATK. The 4-piece ignores up to 18% of enemy DEF for every DoT type currently active on them, stacking 3 times. In a team with Hysilens, Black Swan, and Kafka all applying different DoT types, the 3-stack cap is easy to maintain. This set is the better pick when you want to maximize Kafka’s own damage contribution in premium DoT teams.

Best Planar Ornaments: Lushaka, the Sunken Seas

StarGuide’s top recommendation for Kafka. The 2-piece gives Energy Regeneration Rate and, if Kafka is not the first character in the lineup, buffs the first character’s ATK by 12%. This is a free passive ATK boost for your primary DoT carry. Position Kafka second or later in the team lineup to activate this bonus.

Alternative Planar Ornament: Firmament Frontline: Glamoth

Boosts ATK and gives further ATK% when Kafka’s SPD hits 135 or 160. Works well in high-speed builds where you push Kafka to 160+ SPD for maximum follow-up and detonation frequency.

Best Teams for Kafka in HSR 4.3

Team 1: Hysilens Hypercarry (Best Team in Patch 4.3)

Kafka and Hysilens are the core of the strongest DoT team in the current meta. Hysilens’s Talent stacks all four DoT types automatically, her Zone fires up to 8 bonus Physical DoT hits per cycle, and Kafka detonates every single one of those DoTs instantly through her Skill and follow-ups. Prydwen describes this pairing as essentially non-negotiable — Hysilens without Kafka loses so much that the pair is effectively a single unit. Add Black Swan for Arcana stacking and a healer like Huohuo or Gallagher for sustain.

Team 2: Kafka + Black Swan

The classic DoT core from the Penacony era still works very well. Black Swan stacks Arcana on enemies through her own attacks and passive, which counts as an additional DoT for Prisoner relic stacking and Hysilens Zone feeds. Black Swan also reduces Wind RES on all enemies. Fill slots three and four with a Harmony buffer like Ruan Mei and a healer or shielder.

Team 3: Kafka + Jiaoqiu

Jiaoqiu stacks Ashen Roast debuffs that amplify all DoT damage taken by enemies. His Skill and Ultimate apply Fire DMG vulnerability on top of his own Burn. Paired with Kafka’s full detonation toolkit, this team is especially strong in single-target Memory of Chaos stages. Add Gallagher as the healer — Gallagher naturally applies Burn DoT with his Basic ATK, which feeds Kafka’s Zone triggers and Prisoner relic stacks for free.

Team 4: Kafka + Acheron (Sub-DPS Role)

Kafka works in Acheron teams as a reliable debuff applicator. This team clears all standard content reliably and is a great starting point while saving for Hysilens or Black Swan.

Kafka Eidolons – Are They Worth It?

Kafka’s eidolons are all obtainable through the limited gacha banner. They are strong but not all equally impactful.

• E1 – Da Capo: After any Kafka attack, there is a 100% base chance to apply a debuff that increases the DoT damage enemies take by 30% for 2 turns. After the 3.4 rework, this now triggers on every attack, not just follow-ups — making it near-permanent in normal combat. This is a 30% DoT DMG amplifier for the entire team on every enemy every cycle. It is one of the strongest E1s in the game and the first stopping point for Kafka investment.
• E2 – Fortississimo: While Kafka is on the field, all allies’ DoT damage is increased by 33%. A massive passive team buff. This is widely considered her best overall eidolon for team DPS but requires two copies of a limited 5-star character.
• E4 – Recitativo: Kafka regenerates 2 Energy every time an enemy takes damage from her Shock DoTs. Useful in Pure Fiction with many enemies and helps maintain consistent Ultimate cycling. Less impactful in single-target content.
• E6 – Fermata: Kafka’s Shock from her Talent, Ultimate, and follow-up attacks deals significantly more damage and lasts 3 turns instead of 2. A strong personal DPS spike for dedicated Kafka investment.

The recommended stopping point for most players is E1. The value jump from E0 to E1 is enormous and much more accessible than chasing E2.

Yes — without question. Kafka is a T0 character in Memory of Chaos in patch 4.3. She is the single best partner for Hysilens, the current top DoT carry, and the two of them together form the strongest DoT core in the game’s history. After her Version 3.4 rework, Kafka is no longer just a legacy character — she is genuinely premier by modern standards. If you are building a DoT team or already have Hysilens, Kafka is a must-pull.
