The Opia Apito Templar Hunt walkthrough in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the most wide-ranging of the four Templar Hunt chains. It spreads across three different islands — Cayman Sound, Grand Cayman, and Pinos Isle — and takes you through a jungle tracking sequence, a naval ship chase, and a final nighttime raid on a Templar camp. Finish all four missions and you earn the fourth and final Templar Key needed to unlock the Templar Armor at your Great Inagua Manor.
- Four missions: The Taino Assassin, Templar Ships, Right-Hand Man, and The Trail of Lucia Marquez.
- Opia Apito is located on Cayman Sound island in the Castillo de Jagua region.
- Unlock condition: complete the main story mission This Old Cove first.
- Mission 1 involves tracking a White Jaguar through jungle terrain — a Sleep Dart makes it trivial.
- Mission 3 includes a full naval chase and boarding sequence against Vargas’ ship.
- The final mission plays out at night on Pinos Isle, with Opia fighting alongside you.
- Reward: the fourth Templar Key — the last one you need for the Templar Armor.
- Approach Cayman Sound carefully — the surrounding waters are patrolled by hostile ships.
Before you can access Opia’s questline, you need to complete This Old Cove in the main story. After that, all four Templar Hunts unlock simultaneously and can be done in any order. For a breakdown of all four hunts together, the full AC Black Flag Resynced Templar Hunts guide covers every chain in one place.
Where to Find Opia Apito in AC Black Flag Resynced
Opia Apito is on Cayman Sound island in the Castillo de Jagua region. One important thing before you sail in: the waters around Cayman Sound are patrolled by hostile ships. Either sink them on approach or jump off the Jackdaw about 200 to 300 meters out and swim the rest of the way. This avoids a messy naval fight before you even land. Once ashore, find Opia and speak to her to begin Mission 1. She is not immediately enthusiastic about working with Edward, so expect to earn her trust first.

Mission 1: The Taino Assassin

After greeting Opia, follow her into the jungle camp and activate Eagle Vision to search for clues. You’re looking for two things: a tree with claw marks and a patch of blood on the ground nearby. Inspect both, then talk to Opia again.
Keep following her until you spot a few dead guards and a trail of white jaguar tracks. Turn Eagle Vision back on and follow the tracks. They lead you directly to the animal.
How to Kill the White Jaguar
The White Jaguar looks intimidating but it’s one of the easier fights in the game if you come prepared. The fastest method is to hit it with a Sleep Dart first. Once it drops, walk up and press the assassinate button to finish it in a single hit. You don’t need to get into a brawl with it at all. If you’re out of Sleep Darts, it’s a manageable fight — just dodge its pounce and counter. Either way, once it’s dead, skin it to complete the mission.
Mission 2: Templar Ships

For this mission, sail east to Grand Cayman island and find Opia waiting on the docks. Speak to her to begin. Your first objective is to gather intelligence on the local Templar presence.
Head to the quest marker and sit on the nearby bench to blend in and eavesdrop on two locals talking about the King of Fishermen. After the conversation, follow your marker west toward the area’s Viewpoint. Activate Eagle Vision once you enter the search zone — the King of Fishermen is highlighted in green.
Tail him carefully through the village. The game will prompt you to pickpocket a Bill of Sale from him while his back is turned. Stay behind him and lift it cleanly. If he catches you mid-lift, he turns hostile and you’ll need to fight him to take the item — both approaches work, but the quiet pickpocket is faster.
Once the Bill of Sale is yours, meet Opia east of Grand Cayman near the Viewpoint and hand over what you found. She fills you in on Lucia Marquez’s right-hand man, Vargas, and leads you to his house. This wraps Mission 2 and feeds directly into Mission 3.
Mission 3: Right-Hand Man
Follow Opia to Vargas’ house on Grand Cayman. When she signals, hide in the nearby stack of palm fronds. A cutscene plays. When it ends, Vargas bolts and flees toward the docks. Sprint after him. He escapes onto his ship before you can catch him on foot.
The Naval Chase
Return to the Jackdaw immediately and give chase. Vargas’ ship will drop barrels behind it as it flees — be ready to steer around them or shoot them before they reach you. Keep the pressure on and close the distance. Once you’re in range, open fire to weaken the ship, then initiate a boarding sequence.
During the boarding, your goal is to incapacitate Vargas, not destroy the ship. Fight through his crew and take him down to complete the mission. If you have a Swivel Gun loaded, that can speed things up considerably during the chase phase.
If the Jackdaw takes damage during this chase, the ship upgrade and customisation guide is worth a look before heading to Pinos Isle for the finale. Keeping the Jackdaw in good shape matters for the sailing stretches across this questline.
Mission 4: The Trail of Lucia Marquez
This is the finale. Sail to Pinos Isle and find Opia waiting on the beach near the southwest of the island. Speak to her and sit with her to wait until nightfall. The mission plays out under cover of darkness, which works in your favour for the stealth sections ahead.

Tailing the Guard
After the cutscene, a Spanish soldier heads up the path ahead of you. Tail him down the beach, then up the dirt trail that climbs the hill past the first set of ruins and into a second ruin area. There are plenty of stalking zone bushes along his route — use them. He stops three times during the walk, but staying in the bushes means he won’t spot you. When he enters the second set of ruins, your objectives update and you’re free to eliminate him along with a group of four guards on the lower section of the temple.
Clearing the Ziggurat Ruins
Follow Opia through the Templar camp. You can play this section aggressively or stick to the bushes — both work. Opia will co-assassinate guards alongside you as you progress, so tag-teaming the patrols with her is both faster and cleaner than going loud alone. Sleep Darts are useful here if you want to keep things quiet in the larger open areas.
Once you reach the ziggurat ruins, you need to eliminate all of Lucia Marquez’s men. Opia fights with you here, so focus on crowd control and let her handle flankers. After the first group of guards falls, a second wave arrives. Use any gunpowder kegs scattered around the area to speed things up. Hold your ground alongside Opia until all of them are down. After the second wave, Lucia Marquez reveals herself and runs further into the ruins.
Assassinating Lucia Marquez
Chase her toward the cliffside. She’ll try to put distance between you but doesn’t get far. Once she stops, move in and assassinate her by any method to confirm the kill. After she falls, you receive the fourth Templar Key and the Opia Apito Templar Hunt is complete.
Templar Key Reward and Unlocking the Templar Armor
The key from Opia’s chain is the last of the four Templar Hunt keys. Combined with the key earned automatically by defeating Du Casse during the main story mission A Single Madman, you now have all five. Head to the Manor at Great Inagua in the Gibara region and insert all five keys into the locked gate to complete the Damn Fine Gear side quest and claim the Templar Armor. It’s one of the strongest armor sets available to Edward and the main reward for grinding through all four Templar Hunt chains.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Opia Apito in AC Black Flag Resynced?
Opia Apito is on Cayman Sound island in the Castillo de Jagua region. The surrounding waters are patrolled by hostile ships, so either fight through them on approach or swim in from 200 to 300 meters out. You need to have completed This Old Cove before she becomes available.
What are the four missions in Opia Apito’s Templar Hunt?
The four missions are The Taino Assassin, Templar Ships, Right-Hand Man, and The Trail of Lucia Marquez. Each one unlocks after completing the previous mission.
How do I beat the White Jaguar in Mission 1?
The easiest way is to hit it with a Sleep Dart first. Once it drops, walk up and assassinate it in one button press. No drawn-out fight needed. If you don’t have Sleep Darts, dodge its pounce attacks and counter — it goes down without much trouble.
How do I catch Vargas in Mission 3?
After the cutscene at his house, Vargas flees to his ship at the docks. Sprint after him, then return to the Jackdaw and give chase by sea. Weaken his ship with cannon fire, then board it and incapacitate him during the boarding sequence. Watch out for barrels he drops behind during the chase.
Do I have to be stealthy in the final mission on Pinos Isle?
No. The Trail of Lucia Marquez can be played aggressively throughout. Opia fights alongside you the whole way, and the bushes along the route are there if you prefer a quieter approach. Either way, use any gunpowder kegs near the ziggurat to help deal with the second wave of guards quickly.
What do I get for completing Opia Apito’s Templar Hunt?
You earn the fourth and final Templar Key from the Templar Hunts. Combined with the fifth key from the main story, all five together unlock the Templar Armor at the locked gate in your Manor on Great Inagua.
