Best Weapons for Vodyanitsa in Genshin Impact

Best Weapons for Vodyanitsa in Genshin Impact

    TL;DR

    • Vodyanitsa is a 5-star Hydro support whose kit scales entirely off Max HP.
    • Hymn of the Maelstrom is her signature weapon and best-in-slot choice.
    • Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers at R5 is her best free option and stays competitive even against her signature.
    • Jadefall’s Splendor and Everlasting Moonglow are solid 5-star alternatives if you already have them.
    • Prototype Amber is the best craftable 4-star pick, especially if you want to use her Burst.
    • Ash-Graven Drinking Horn is a decent free event weapon with an HP stat.
    • Any Catalyst with an HP% secondary stat works well on her — avoid ATK%, CRIT, or Elemental Mastery weapons entirely.

Vodyanitsa is one of the strongest supports introduced in Genshin Impact Version 7.1. She heals, shreds resistance, and buffs the team — all from a single Elemental Skill press. Because her kit scales entirely off Max HP, weapon choice is simple: the higher the HP stat, the better. This guide covers every weapon worth considering for Vodyanitsa, from her premium signature down to free options any player can get.

Best Weapon for Vodyanitsa — Hymn of the Maelstrom

Hymn of the Maelstrom is Vodyanitsa’s signature 5-star Catalyst and her strongest weapon. At Level 90, it has a base ATK of 542 and a secondary stat of 66.2% HP — one of the highest HP secondary stats on any weapon in the game. That alone makes reaching the 65,000 HP target much easier without needing to rely heavily on substat rolls.

Its passive is called Rondo of Slumber. It does three things:

    • Increases Healing Bonus by 4% at R1 (up to 8% at R5).
    • Each time Vodyanitsa heals, she gains a stack that converts her Max HP above 40,000 into an ATK bonus for the active character, up to 8% ATK at R1 and 16% at R5, with a maximum of 3 stacks.
    • The ATK buff is boosted by 75% when the team triggers a Frozen or Stellar Swirl reaction.
    • All effects remain active even when Vodyanitsa is off the field.

The off-field nature of the passive is what makes this weapon so clean on her. Vodyanitsa presses her Skill, swaps out, and the weapon keeps buffing the active character automatically through every healing tick. The Frozen and Stellar Swirl boost makes it especially valuable in the exact teams Vodyanitsa is built for.

Moving from Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers at R5 to Hymn of the Maelstrom at R1 raises Vodyanitsa’s Max HP from around 59,000 to 64,000, increases her ATK from about 903 to 1,067, and adds the Healing Bonus on top. It is a clear improvement in raw stats and rotational comfort.

Hymn of the Maelstrom is available on the limited Epitome Invocation weapon banner. Pull for it if Vodyanitsa is a core part of your main teams and you want the most complete version of her support kit.

Best F2P Weapon — Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers is a 3-star Catalyst that is remarkably close in practical performance to Hymn of the Maelstrom for Vodyanitsa — and it costs nothing to obtain or max refine. You can pull multiple copies from the standard wish pool and quickly push it to Refinement 5, where it performs best.

Its secondary stat is 35.2% HP, which is lower than the signature weapon but still useful for pushing toward the 65,000 HP target. Its passive provides an ATK buff of 48% at R5 to the next character you swap into after holding the weapon for at least 1 second.

The key rule with TTDS is swap order. Vodyanitsa must be the last character you swap before your main DPS takes the field. This ensures the 48% ATK buff lands on the right character. In teams where you run multiple supports before swapping to the DPS, this is easy to manage — just make Vodyanitsa your final setup character every rotation.

One limitation of TTDS is that the buff only lasts 10 seconds with a 20-second cooldown. This means it fires every other rotation, not every one. Hymn of the Maelstrom provides a permanent off-field buff with no such restriction. Still, for a free 3-star weapon, TTDS delivers incredible value and keeps Vodyanitsa competitive in all endgame content.

    Best 5-Star Alternative — Jadefall’s Splendor

If you already own Jadefall’s Splendor from a previous banner, it is Vodyanitsa’s best non-signature 5-star option. It has a base ATK of 608 and an HP secondary stat of 49.6%, which helps comfortably approach the 65,000 HP threshold.

Its passive, Primordial Jade Regalia, restores Energy for the equipping character and grants an Elemental DMG Bonus after using an Elemental Burst. While neither of these effects are as directly impactful on Vodyanitsa as her signature’s healing and ATK buff passives, the high HP stat does its job well. Jadefall also keeps its passive active while Vodyanitsa is off-field, which maintains some utility throughout the rotation.

If you have Jadefall’s Splendor sitting unused, put it on Vodyanitsa without hesitation.

Second 5-Star Alternative — Everlasting Moonglow

Everlasting Moonglow is another solid 5-star pick for Vodyanitsa. It has a base ATK of 608 and an HP secondary stat of 49.6%, matching Jadefall’s Splendor in those numbers. Its passive, Byakuya Kougetsu, increases Healing Bonus by 10% at R1 and adds Normal Attack DMG based on a percentage of the wielder’s Max HP.

The Healing Bonus increase is genuinely useful for Vodyanitsa since more healing means more Furina Fanfare stacks and more survivability for the team. The Normal Attack DMG conversion is mostly irrelevant since Vodyanitsa rarely uses Normal Attacks in her rotation, but the Healing Bonus alone makes this a respectable secondary option.

Everlasting Moonglow and Jadefall’s Splendor sit at roughly the same level for Vodyanitsa. Which is better depends slightly on your team — Jadefall’s Energy restore can help if you want to use her Burst more consistently, while Everlasting Moonglow’s Healing Bonus can slightly improve sustain output in longer fights.

Best Craftable Weapon — Prototype Amber

Prototype Amber is a 4-star craftable Catalyst that is easy to obtain by forging at the blacksmith. It has an HP secondary stat, which aligns with what Vodyanitsa wants. Its passive restores Energy for the equipping character and heals all party members when they use an Elemental Burst.

This weapon is worth using specifically if you plan to include Vodyanitsa’s Burst in her rotation. The Energy Recharge from the passive helps her Burst come up more reliably, and the healing on Burst use adds a small amount of extra sustain. In teams where you want Vodyanitsa to use her Burst every rotation, Prototype Amber can close the Energy gap without needing to stack ER on artifact substats.

Prototype Amber does not compete with Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers in most team setups, but it is a useful alternative if you want more rotational flexibility with her Burst.

Free Event Weapon — Ash-Graven Drinking Horn

Ash-Graven Drinking Horn is a 4-star Catalyst that was available as a free event weapon. It has a base ATK of 510 and an HP secondary stat of 41.3%. Its passive deals extra AoE damage based on 40% of the wielder’s Max HP every 15 seconds.

The HP secondary stat is the main reason to use this on Vodyanitsa. It is not as strong as TTDS in terms of team value, but if you do not have TTDS at high refinement, Ash-Graven Drinking Horn is a decent placeholder that still points in the right direction with its HP stat. Think of it as a stepping stone while you farm more TTDS copies.

    Weapons to Avoid on Vodyanitsa

Vodyanitsa’s scaling is entirely HP-based, so certain weapon types provide very little value for her:

    • ATK% secondary stat weapons: She does not deal meaningful personal damage and gains nothing from raw ATK scaling on the weapon itself.
    • CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG weapons: Her personal CRIT stats are irrelevant. She is not a DPS character.
    • Elemental Mastery weapons: She does not trigger reactions herself in most teams, so EM on the weapon does nothing for her support output.
    • Energy Recharge weapons with no HP stat: Energy Recharge is only useful if you want to use her Burst every rotation, and even then only in small amounts. A weapon that gives only ER with no HP wastes her primary scaling.

    Vodyanitsa Weapon Priority Summary

    • S Tier: Hymn of the Maelstrom — pull if Vodyanitsa is central to your main team.
    • A Tier: Jadefall’s Splendor — excellent if you already own it.
    • A Tier: Everlasting Moonglow — strong Healing Bonus option if you have it.
    • B Tier: Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers (R5) — best free weapon, highly competitive.
    • B Tier: Prototype Amber — best crafted choice, especially for Burst-focused builds.
    • C Tier: Ash-Graven Drinking Horn — decent filler if nothing else is available.

Does Vodyanitsa Need Her Signature Weapon?

She does not. Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers at R5 lands within a few percent of Hymn of the Maelstrom in most real-world team scenarios. Vodyanitsa’s full support package — healing, RES shred for three elements, interruption resistance, and HP-based flat damage bonuses — is available at C0 with any HP weapon.

The signature weapon mainly makes the ATK buff permanent and off-field instead of requiring a precise swap order, raises her Max HP closer to the cap with less artifact investment, and adds a Healing Bonus that improves sustain output slightly. These are comfort upgrades, not power thresholds.

If you are choosing between Vodyanitsa’s weapon and her C2 constellation, the constellation gives the stronger return — it adds a 50% Hydro and Cryo CRIT DMG buff to the active character which directly amplifies your carry’s damage. Prioritize C2 before the signature if you are investing heavily in her.
