Vodyanitsa Best Teams in Genshin Impact

    By Eva Roberts · October 18, 2026 · 10 min read
    Vodyanitsa Genshin Impact 2

    TL;DR

    • Vodyanitsa is a 5-star Hydro support who excels in Stellar Swirl and Freeze teams.
    • Her best team is Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Vodyanitsa for Stellar Swirl.
    • Skirk + Furina + Escoffier + Vodyanitsa is her top Freeze team.
    • She also fits into Mizuki, Sandrone, Varka, Ayaka, and Neuvillette lineups.
    • Her rotation is simple — use her Elemental Skill and immediately swap to the main DPS.
    • She shreds Hydro, Cryo, and Anemo RES all from a single Skill cast.
    • Avoid stacking too much extra Hydro in Stellar Swirl teams as it can remove the Cryo aura Vesna needs.

Vodyanitsa is one of the most flexible supports in Genshin Impact Version 7.1. She packs healing, interruption resistance, and resistance shred for three elements into a single Elemental Skill press. Her support package makes her valuable in multiple team archetypes — but she truly shines in Stellar Swirl and Freeze compositions where her Hydro and Cryo RES shred hits the hardest.

This guide covers every major team Vodyanitsa can slot into, why each pairing works, and how to run her rotation. For a full look at her build, see our Vodyanitsa Best Build guide. To start farming her materials now, check the Vodyanitsa Ascension and Talent Materials guide.

How Vodyanitsa Works in a Team

Vodyanitsa requires almost no field time. Her entire job happens in two steps — press Elemental Skill, then swap out. Once her Skill is active, the Horn of Spring’s Call attacks off-field every 3 seconds, applying Hydro, healing the active character, and reducing enemy Hydro and Cryo RES. Her Anemo RES shred passive activates automatically when a Stellar Vortex is generated while she is in the party.

Her support output scales entirely with Max HP, so all of her healing, flat damage bonuses, and buffs improve the more HP she has. Aim for around 65,000 HP for maximum output. Because she spends so little time on-field, she is one of the most resin-efficient supports to build — you invest in HP and let her kit do the rest.

One important note: in Stellar Swirl teams, be careful not to stack too much extra Hydro application. Vodyanitsa’s Hydro already applies regularly, and adding a second Hydro character can sometimes override the Cryo aura that Vesna needs to trigger Stellar Swirl. This is why most Vesna teams run Vodyanitsa as the only Hydro unit.

Team 1 — Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Vodyanitsa (Best Stellar Swirl Team)

This is Vodyanitsa’s flagship team and the main reason to pull her in Version 7.1. It is also Vesna’s strongest overall lineup. Every character in this team has a specific role that locks together cleanly.

    • Vesna — On-field Anemo main DPS. Triggers Stellar Swirl using her Elemental Skill and infused attacks.
    • Odette — Off-field Cryo applicator. Her Skill converts Cryo Swirl into Stellar Swirl and buffs Stellar Glimmer damage.
    • Cryo Traveler — Additional Cryo application and Stellar Swirl conversion support.
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro applicator, and RES shredder. Reduces Hydro, Cryo, and Anemo RES. Provides interruption resistance to keep Vesna on-field safely.

The rotation is straightforward. Use Odette’s Skill twice to set up Cryo off-field, then use Cryo Traveler’s abilities, then use Vodyanitsa’s Skill and swap out immediately to Vesna. Vesna then spends the rest of the rotation on-field dealing damage while all three supports work from the backline. Vodyanitsa keeps her healed throughout.

This team puts up some of the highest damage in the current meta. If you want to learn more about running Vesna at full strength, check our Vesna Best Teams guide and the best weapons for Vesna.

    Team 2 — Vesna + Odette + Faruzan (C6) + Vodyanitsa

This is a strong alternative to the Cryo Traveler version if you have Faruzan at C6. Faruzan at C6 provides powerful Anemo damage buffs and RES shred on top of what Vodyanitsa already contributes. The trade-off is that you lose one source of Cryo application, which can slightly reduce Stellar Swirl consistency. However, Faruzan’s damage amplification for Vesna often makes up for it.

    • Vesna — On-field Anemo DPS
    • Odette — Off-field Cryo conversion and Stellar Glimmer buff
    • Faruzan (C6) — Anemo RES shred and Anemo damage bonus
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro application, Hydro/Cryo/Anemo RES shred

Run Odette’s Skill, then Faruzan’s abilities, then Vodyanitsa’s Skill and swap immediately to Vesna. If using Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers on Vodyanitsa, she should be the last character you swap before Vesna takes the field to land the 48% ATK buff.

Team 3 — Skirk + Furina + Escoffier + Vodyanitsa (Best Freeze Team)

This is Vodyanitsa’s best Freeze team and one of the strongest Freeze compositions in the game overall. Skirk’s kit strongly favors teams made entirely of Cryo and Hydro characters, and Vodyanitsa fits that requirement perfectly.

    • Skirk — On-field Cryo main DPS. Benefits from the full Cryo-only team restriction for maximum damage.
    • Furina — Massive DMG% amplification through Fanfare. Also applies Hydro off-field and heaps of HP drain that Vodyanitsa compensates for.
    • Escoffier — Off-field Cryo damage and additional Cryo and Hydro RES shred. Her passive stacks on top of Vodyanitsa’s.
    • Vodyanitsa — Primary healer, keeps the team alive through Furina’s HP drain, applies Hydro for Freeze, reduces Hydro and Cryo RES.

Tests show this lineup produces around 152,000 team DPS, which is roughly 12% higher than using C1 Shenhe in the same slot. The rotation involves cycling Escoffier, Furina, and Vodyanitsa’s abilities before handing the field to Skirk for her damage window. Vodyanitsa’s healing also keeps Furina’s Fanfare stacks building by keeping the team’s HP topped up after each drain.

If you use Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers on Vodyanitsa, she must be the last character you swap before Skirk. This ensures Skirk receives the 48% ATK buff the moment she takes the field.

    Team 4 — Mizuki + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Vodyanitsa

Vodyanitsa also fits into Yumemizuki Mizuki’s Stellar Swirl team as a support. Mizuki functions as an alternative Anemo on-field DPS for players who do not have Vesna. The team structure is nearly identical to the Vesna lineup, with Mizuki taking the carry role instead.

    • Mizuki — On-field Anemo DPS focused on Stellar Swirl
    • Odette — Off-field Cryo conversion and damage buff
    • Cryo Traveler — Cryo application and Stellar Swirl trigger support
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro application, RES shred

One thing to keep in mind is that Mizuki generates fewer Stellar Vortex instances than Vesna, which means Vodyanitsa’s Anemo RES shred passive activates less often. The team still works well but does not hit the same peaks as Vesna’s version. This is a good F2P-friendly choice for players who picked up the Cryo Traveler as a free Cryo applicator.

    Team 5 — Sandrone + Odette + Sucrose + Vodyanitsa

Sandrone can also be played as a Stellar Swirl carry, and Vodyanitsa slips into her team naturally. In this lineup, Sucrose handles grouping and Anemo support, Odette provides Cryo conversion for Stellar Swirl, and Vodyanitsa brings the healing and RES shred. Sandrone deals the primary damage through her Stella Fortuna and Stellar Swirl reactions.

    • Sandrone — Stellar Swirl carry
    • Odette — Off-field Cryo and Stellar Swirl conversion
    • Sucrose — Grouping, Elemental Mastery share, Anemo support
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro application, ATK buff through Tenacity of the Millelith

This team tested at around 247,000 team DPS in early community testing, making it one of the higher-output teams for Vodyanitsa. It is especially strong if you have Tenacity of the Millelith on Vodyanitsa, since Sucrose and Sandrone both benefit from the ATK buff she provides.

    Team 6 — Varka + Prune + Furina + Vodyanitsa

For players who want to use Vodyanitsa outside of Stellar Swirl and Freeze, a Varka Hydro team is a solid option. Varka is a powerful Anemo DPS, Prune provides Anemo support, and Furina adds damage amplification and Hydro. Vodyanitsa fills the healer and buffer role, keeping everyone healthy and boosting the team through Tenacity of the Millelith and TTDS.

    • Varka — On-field Anemo main DPS
    • Prune — Anemo support
    • Furina — Hydro sub-DPS and Fanfare DMG amplification
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro application, buffer

This is not Vodyanitsa’s strongest team in terms of raw damage, but it is a functional and enjoyable lineup if you already have Varka and want a sustainable healer slot.

    Team 7 — Ayaka + Vodyanitsa + Furina + Shenhe (Permafreeze)

Kamisato Ayaka remains a strong Freeze carry even in Version 7.1, and Vodyanitsa is a capable Hydro applicator for her permafreeze compositions. She provides the consistent off-field Hydro Ayaka needs to maintain Freeze on targets, while her Cryo RES shred amplifies Ayaka’s hits directly.

    • Kamisato Ayaka — On-field Cryo DPS
    • Furina — Hydro sub-DPS and Fanfare stacking
    • Shenhe — Cryo DMG buff and RES shred
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro application, Cryo RES shred

This team does not use Vodyanitsa at her ceiling — she contributes less here than in a Skirk team because Ayaka does not benefit from the Anemo RES shred passive. Still, it is a comfortable and familiar team for veteran players who have run Ayaka for a long time. See our Ayaka character page for more on her kit.

    Team 8 — Neuvillette + Vodyanitsa + Cryo Support + Flex

Neuvillette is one of the strongest Hydro DPS characters in the game, and Vodyanitsa can slot into his teams as a healer and buffer. In Neuvillette compositions, Vodyanitsa’s Hydro application does not interfere since Neuvillette already carries the Hydro element himself. Her Cryo RES shred and the ATK buff from Tenacity of the Millelith both add value for the team’s sub-DPS characters.

    • Neuvillette — On-field Hydro main DPS
    • Vodyanitsa — Healer, Hydro/Cryo RES shred, buffer
    • Cryo support — A Cryo character to enable reactions
    • Flex slot — Additional support based on your roster

Vodyanitsa’s contribution is smaller here since neither the Anemo RES passive nor the Stellar Swirl flat damage bonuses apply. But she is still a fully functional healer and support in this archetype. See our Neuvillette character page for team ideas that match him.

    Vodyanitsa General Rotation

Vodyanitsa’s rotation is the same in almost every team. The key rule is that she always goes early in the rotation — she sets up her off-field support and then hands the field to the main DPS immediately.

    • Use off-field support character abilities (Odette Skill, Escoffier Skill, Faruzan Burst, etc.)
    • Use Vodyanitsa’s Elemental Skill
    • If using Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers, Vodyanitsa swaps to the main DPS last before they take the field to land the ATK buff
    • Swap to the main DPS and deal damage for the rest of the rotation
    • Use Vodyanitsa’s Burst optionally if you have the Energy and it fits the rotation timing

She almost never needs to stay on-field longer than a second or two per rotation. Keep her swap clean and fast so the main DPS gets maximum field time.

Who Should You Pair Vodyanitsa With?

Vodyanitsa works best with carries that deal Hydro, Cryo, or Anemo damage. Her resistance shred only applies to those elements, so she gives less to Pyro or Electro carries. Characters who are already using Stellar Swirl get the most out of her since all three of her RES shreds apply simultaneously in those teams.

She is also a natural fit for any team that uses Furina, since her healing compensates for the HP drain Furina applies to the party, keeping Fanfare stacks high without risking team members dropping too low.
