TL;DR
- The Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor blueprint comes from cleansing the Sanctum of Deliverance as part of the Witch of Kindness quest.
- Four materials are needed: Scorchflame Plate Armor, Core of Absolution, Power Core (Casket of Illusions), and Enhanced Kuku Pot.
- The Scorchflame Plate Armor is hidden behind a rotating wooden door at the Golden Trading Post in Demeniss — no boss fight required.
- All crafting is done at Grimnir’s Kuku Shop in the Kilnden Workshop south of Hernand.
- The finished armor has Fire Resistance Lv 10, Critical Rate Lv 2 (upgradable to Lv 3), and absorbs fire damage to trigger an explosive counterattack when fully charged.
Fire damage in Crimson Desert can ruin a run fast. It staggers you, stacks debuffs, and certain boss encounters in fire-heavy zones punish unprotected builds repeatedly. The Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor is the answer to all of that.
It combines Fire Resistance Lv 10, the strongest fire protection in the game, with Critical Rate that scales up to Lv 3 at max refinement. That Critical Rate bonus applies globally, meaning it boosts every weapon you have equipped. And on top of the raw stats, the armor absorbs incoming fire damage and stores it. Once fully charged, any hit you receive detonates a fire explosion around you, pushing back and damaging nearby enemies.
Of the three Kuku elemental armors, this is the most accessible. The base armor comes from a chest with no boss fight attached, and the Sanctum involved is one most players clear early. This is usually the first elemental Kuku armor players finish, and for good reason.
Here is everything you need to craft it.

What Is the Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor?
The Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor is a legendary chest piece crafted at Grimnir’s Kuku Shop. In lore, it is Scorchflame Plate Armor reinforced with an Enhanced Kuku Pot. The Core of Absolution fused inside grants it superior heat resistance, preventing it from melting even under the most intense fire attacks. Instead, it absorbs that heat and stores it as power.
Key stats at craft:
- Fire Resistance: Lv 10 — the highest fire protection available in the game
- Critical Rate: Lv 2 — upgrades to Lv 3 at max refinement
- Defense: up to 38 at maximum refinement
- Special Effect: Absorbs fire damage. Once fully charged, any attack received unleashes a fire explosion that pushes back and damages surrounding enemies.
- Abyss Gear: Not compatible. No Abyss Gear slots.
- Cannot be sold.
The Critical Rate is the real reason experienced players target this armor. Since critical rate is a global stat in Crimson Desert, the Lv 3 bonus from this chest piece applies across all four weapon slots simultaneously. Getting the same boost through Abyss Gear alone would consume two crit rate slots per weapon across your full loadout. One armor piece replaces all of that investment cleanly.

Step 1: Get the Blueprint — Sanctum of Deliverance
The blueprint is awarded after cleansing the Sanctum of Deliverance, located north of the “D” in “Hernand” on your map.

To unlock this sanctum, you first need to save the Witch of Kindness in Pailune. This is part of her quest line and must be completed before the Sanctum of Deliverance becomes active.
Once the Witch of Kindness is saved, travel to the Sanctum of Deliverance and cleanse it by completing its puzzle and liberating the area. After the sanctum is cleansed, a cutscene triggers with Bari the Witch, who hands you the Flame-Resistant Armor Blueprint directly.
The blueprint is immediately learned and unlocks the recipe at Grimnir’s shop. See our Sanctum of Deliverance puzzle guide for the full walkthrough. For all sanctum locations at once, see our all sanctum locations guide.

Step 2: Get the Scorchflame Plate Armor — Golden Trading Post, Demeniss
The base material is the Scorchflame Plate Armor, and getting it requires no boss fight whatsoever. It sits in a hidden chest behind a rotating wooden door.
Head to the Golden Trading Post, located north of the “D” in “Demeniss” on your map. Make your way to the west end of the trading post, between two flights of stairs. Look for a wooden door that appears slightly out of place. Two NPCs are sometimes having a conversation nearby.
Crouch and push through the door — it is a hidden rotating panel. On the other side is a treasure chest. Open it to collect the Scorchflame Plate Armor.
Note: watch your step immediately after entering. There is a false floor in front of the chest. Step around it carefully.
If you want the full Scorchflame armor set alongside this chest piece, see our Scorchflame Flame Knight armor set all locations guide.

Step 3: Get the Core of Absolution — Sanctum of Absolution Puzzle
The Core of Absolution comes from the Sanctum of Absolution, located toward the lower end of the Hernand map.
To unlock this sanctum, you first need to find the Witch of Wisdom. Once she is found, the Sanctum of Absolution becomes accessible.
After cleansing the sanctum, a dial mechanism activates at the front of the sanctum. This is an optional but required step for the Core. Here is how the puzzle works:
Use Blinding Flash (L1+R1+L1 on controller) to shine light into the large crystal at the center. A ring of smaller gems around the crystal begins rotating clockwise. Flash the light at each gem as it moves into position. The timing window is forgiving but the delay between your flash and the light reaching the gem catches many players off. Aim slightly ahead of each gem rather than directly at it.
Once every gem is activated successfully for a full rotation, the Core of Absolution drops from the mechanism. Use Axiom Force to grab it, then seal it into your Kuku Pot.
You must have a Kuku Pot in your inventory before attempting this. See our Sanctum of Absolution puzzle solution guide for the detailed walkthrough, and our how to use Blinding Flash guide and how to use Axiom Force guide if you need help with those abilities.

Step 4: Get the Power Core (Casket of Illusions)
The Power Core — Casket of Illusions comes from two sources. Check your inventory first because you may already have one from earlier in the game if you have been fighting Abyss creatures.
Source 1 — Broken-down House near Hernand Farmhouse: Head south of Hernand City to the Hernand Farmhouse area. Look for a mostly collapsed building. Inside the building, a glowing cube sits in the open. With a Kuku Pot in your inventory, use Axiom Force to pull the cube free from its resting spot, then press the Seal button to place it into your Kuku Pot. The Power Core is then added to your inventory.
Source 2 — Stone Worms and Abyss Creatures: The Power Core also drops from Stone Worms and other Abyss enemies across the world. A reliable farming spot is the Greenfield Highlands in Grace Estate, south of Hernand. The drop is not guaranteed. If it does not drop, save your game and reload to try again. Keep trying until the Casket of Illusions variant drops specifically — the type of Power Core matters, so confirm the name before sealing.
For more on farming Power Cores efficiently, see our where to get Power Cores guide.
Step 5: Craft the Enhanced Kuku Pot
You need an Enhanced Kuku Pot, not a regular Kuku Pot, for the final craft. If you already have one from a previous Kuku project, skip ahead.
The Enhanced Kuku Pot blueprint comes from cleansing the Sanctum of Absolution — the same sanctum where you got the Core of Absolution in Step 3. So if you have done that sanctum, the blueprint should already be in your recipe list.
To craft the Enhanced Kuku Pot at Grimnir, you need:
- x1 Kuku Pot
- x1 Abyss Cell
The Kuku Pot itself is crafted at Grimnir from x5 Iron Ore and x5 Timber. Iron Ore comes from mining cliff faces and rock walls around Hernand. Timber comes from chopping trees with a Logging Axe, available at any Provisioner’s Shop.
For Abyss Cell locations, see our how to get Abyss Cells guide. For Iron Ore, see our how to get Iron Ore guide.
Step 6: Craft the Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor at Grimnir
With all four materials collected, head to Grimnir’s Kuku Shop at the Kilnden Workshop, located south of Hernand City. Grimnir’s workshop unlocks after completing the Mysterious Pot main quest in Chapter 4.
The full crafting recipe is:
- x1 Scorchflame Plate Armor (hidden chest at Golden Trading Post, Demeniss)
- x1 Core of Absolution (Sanctum of Absolution puzzle)
- x1 Power Core — Casket of Illusions (Hernand Farmhouse broken house or Abyss creatures)
- x1 Enhanced Kuku Pot (crafted at Grimnir)
Select the Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor from Grimnir’s crafting menu and confirm. The armor is crafted immediately at Tier 5.
Armor Stats, Refinement, and Tips
The armor starts at Tier 5 and can be refined further through the Kuku reinforcement system at the same workshop. At maximum refinement:
- Defense: 38
- Critical Rate: Lv 3
- Fire Resistance: Lv 10 (constant)
The final +10 upgrade requires an Aeserion’s Scale and an Abyss Artifact. For help getting those, see our how to get Aeserion Scales guide.
A few useful tips once you have the armor:
The retaliatory fire explosion is most effective in volcanic Abyss zones and fights against fire-themed bosses. Their attacks charge the armor rapidly, and the explosion then pushes them back and deals heavy AoE damage right in the middle of the fight. You can also stand near environmental fire sources like flamethrower traps and campfires to pre-charge the armor outside of combat before entering a tough encounter.
